I have been to Kyma 5 or more times and it just never seems to go without some sort of hitch, despite many excellent meals. On our last visit they kept us waiting nearly 40 minutes to be seated, and it was really more about how they managed the process. I do not like being told it will only be a few minutes over and over again. Once they seated us they could not have been nicer. My go to entrée has always been the excellent swordfish kebabs. On Friday I tried a special, the Sesame Crusted Tuna. This is becoming a common offering at many good restaurants and I have had it at many, but Kyma set the new best. It was excellent. A perfect combination of favors. Another regular for us is the always dependable zucchini chips and also the tomato salad, which is so large it should be shared. They have an active bar scene and a cozy lounge. Their white sangria is another favorite, as is the pineapple infused vodka. I will keep going for the food and hope there are no glitches. If that happens I will upgrade to 4 or 5 stars.

My husband and I came here for Valentines day dinner 2015 after being referred by a friend. We were blown away with all the amazing flavors! We ordered grilled octopus to share, and for entrees; swordfish for him, and branzino for me). All I can say is. .god. no words. Simply perfection. Definitely a great place for delicious Mediterranean food!

I’ve been here twice, once on a Saturday night and on a Monday afternoon, I enjoyed the experience both times. I’ve tried a large part of the menu and everything is very good! Both were memorable meals for not only the great food but also the outstanding servers, they were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Some people may be right about the hostess but she may just lack the ability to move her face, didn’t find her to be rude but also didn’t see a hint of a smile. hence the comment. Nevertheless, i will definitely return!

A great Greek tavern. Authentic cuisine. Loved the Kyma chips. The tomato salad is a must have. Probably the best grilled octopus out there. The service was quick. The only drawback is the super busy bar area. It was very loud and packed. Probably best to go on an off night. Not the cheapest Mediterranean food out there but definitely fresh and delicious.

Kyma is upscale Greek catering to the northern Nassau crowd. As such, it’s correspondingly expensive. But they’re serious about their food. You won’t find anything too out-there one the menu, because the focus is on freshness and solid Mediterranean ingredients, and they deliver on that. Of what we had, I definitely echo what others have said about the Octopus appetizer and the Zucchini & Eggplant chips. Both were excellent. Fish dishes are solid, again realizing that you are just getting a nice piece of fish with some lemon and oil, and paying more for it than I’m sure you would at plenty of cheaper Greek places, but I found no one complaining. Décor is nice, service is professional. Basically, the formula works.

I really enjoyed my experience here. I came with my grandma who came with her walker and they were very accommodating. I ordered the lobster and I will tell you it was one of my best experiences eating lobster. The other time I ate a whole lobster was after catching it right out of the ocean. There’s nothing fresher, but the lobster at this restaurant was pretty fresh. It came with lemon and butter on the side and that was more than enough. It was very simple and I was able to enjoy all the flavors of the lobster. Yum!

Enjoyed a great meal at Kyma. Seemed to work well to have an evening 6pm reservation on a Saturday, was not crowded initially and we were seated right away. The food was delicious. Good appetizers are the grilled octopus, scallops, the Greek salad and oh so delicious Kyma chips. For main the grilled Branzino is great, simply prepared but fresh and quite tasty. The service was attentive, I will definitely be back.

Style over substance. I recently tried Kyma for the first time and would likely not return. I really wanted to like Kyma, from a décor standpoint the place is very nice, white walls, comfortable seating, but the overall experience left me scratching my head. We went on a Saturday night, the place was packed. Our reservation was for 9:30, we arrived early at 8:45 and checked-in. When 9:30 arrived, our table was not ready, and I asked one of the maitre’d how long it would be, and he responded«well, we are still seating people with 9 pm reservations.» Guess what? I don’t care about everybody else, I care about myself when it comes to being seated at a restaurant, so that was a bad answer. When we finally sat, our table was uneven, which was remedied, but our waitress had the warmth of a rikers island prison guard. She could not have seemed less interested, did not tell us about the specials, and when our appetizer was put on another table and we had to wait another 20 minutes, she didn’t even say anything, you know, like… sorry…So she sucked. As for the food, well, it all looks nice, but the flavor(s) were just not there. We have dined all over Greece, and this food was not a great representation. My wife had the branzino, which she said had no taste, I had the lamb shank which was okay(small portion), but the tomato orzo thing underneath it was very watery, and lacked any real flavor. I would likely not return to Kyma. Perhaps the immense crowd is there to «be seen» but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t focus on your customer service and your food.

Can’t pass on the Kyla chips. I need to develop a biggie appetite though as the appetizers alone made me pretty full. Grilled Octopus was very nice but the yellowtail tar tar while large, lacked contrasting flavors and therefore came across quite bland. You need to avoid the tables by the entrance or the kitchen as waiters and patrons will inevitably bump into you or kick your chair. Seemed to have a little bit of a bar scene but food was the focus. Staff were very accommodating but the kicks to my chair legs numbered over the dozen as the night wore on and people were rushing by.

I’m torn because the food here is excellent and the service isn’t. I want to give them five stars but I just can’t because the service is atrocious. I was in a group of five and we were seated right away and I always love that. It was a snowy night but this restaurant is so bright and fresh it was as if we were transported to a different place that was sunny and warm. We ordered a bunch of different apps including Halloumi and that was excellent. I ordered the Moussaka and honestly it was the best I have ever eaten. I feel like the problem started when we were dealing with one waiter and then a second appeared. Some one in the group ordered a drink and then they never received it. Those are the types of things that seemed to go on the whole night. I thought things were looking up when we were given a free drink on the house. Then there was such a horrible mix up with the bill that I became angry. The group decided to just let it go but I was incensed to say the least. It’s a shame that such an excellent place chooses to hire poor quality people to represent there brand. All and all the food was excellent as well as the atmosphere. I will not be returning based upon the low quality service

This is a beautiful restaurant. It has valet parking which I love. The bar area was very crowded when we were waiting for the table. We had excellent attentive service from our waiter. We had a table of six. One of the ladies ordered Kyma chips, they looked delicious. I ordered the greek salad which was very good. I had the red snapper for an entrée. It was moist and flavorful. I would recommend this restaurant but it is very expensive.

I had an OpenTable complimentary voucher for $ 100 and decided to try Kyma. Décor/service — Valet parking, nice décor, plenty of space, fresh fish display. Maitre d’ who checked us in was nice. Waiter was attentive. Food — We started with two glasses of Pinot Grigio. Seemed like a half of glass. My TSIPOURA(porgy) fish was good, nicely grilled, but let me tell you, porgy cost $ 3 a pound in the market and this dish was $ 35. I barely ate the couscous, it was too mushy and had tomatoes. The broccoli rabe was very good. Snapper was A+. Greek Salad was A+. The tomatoes were very sweet and tasted great. Blue point oysters were tiny. Not meaty at all. They did not have mignotte to go with the oysters, only vinegar. Maybe I would return for the pre fixe lunch which is reasonably priced. I’m not keeping up with the Jones’ in Roslyn so people watching was unimportant to me. I came here for the fish. Our bill was $ 160 for two people($ 60 after the OpenTable certificate).

I have wanted to dine at Kyma for a few months and I finally did tonight. This place had it all, beautiful Mediterranean décor, beautiful people, attentive knowledgeable service staff and delicious food. Oh and valet parking. We decided to eat alfresco on the patio and what a perfect night, probably one of the few remaining for the season. We ordered a lovely white wine from Santorini and started with the stuffed calamari and the shrimp saganki. Both delicious. For dinner I had the special grilled pork chops with lemon potato. My husband had the grilled lamb chops with sautéed spinach. We finished our meal with Greek coffee and baklava. Loved Kyma and will be back.

Eighteen members of our dining group dined at Kyma on Friday, 9⁄11. The place was noisy, too dark(does PSEG double bill in Roslyn?) and packed with a too beautiful and affluent crowd. Patrons had to be in the latter category because the prices here are kind of ridiculous. Anyway, we were seated in three groups of six after some needless controversy about whether they were able to honor our group’s reservation which was made on Open Table a month prior. Hint… if you do not overbook perhaps you can honor reservations! Despite the foregoing, the staff handled our reservation issue in a friendly and professional manner. On to the food… it was exceptional and I give Kyma a 5 out of 5 for food and presentation. The server at our table was attentive and efficient tablemates enjoyed grilled octopus, watermelon salad, Greek Egg Lemon Soup, the crabcake, stuffed calimari, grilled red snapper and moussaka. I enjoyed the spreads with hot and fresh bread and the griiled whole pompano. They were terrific!!! Long Island restaurants would benefit greatly by emulating Kyma and cooking whole fished instead of relying upon insipid farmed salmon and branzino like most restaurants on Long Island companions also liked the baklava. Despite the good experience enjoyed at my table, others among the eighteen diners criticized the food and service and I must take their opinions into account in my rating. Therefore, Kyma is far from perfect because of the reasons cited in the last two paragraphs but it is a place that I will definitely return to, especially for their fresh, tasty and spectacular whole fish dishes.

Fancy Place! This place is awesome. Completely love their deco and the service. I arrived there with no reservation and the place was full. The manager was kind enough to find us a good table since we were already there. Hi took care of us and make sure we had a great time. The food was awesome very Greek lol

Kyma is definitely a scene. I went on a random Tuesday night and it was packed. All the ladies were dressed to the nines. It’s rare that a restaurant on Long Island has a more upscale unofficial dress code so i came«under-dressed» in a summer dress and flat sandals. You live, you learn. Anyway, like I said, it was packed. My friend was late but we were seated as soon as she got there. The restaurant has a very Greek style with white, rustic décor. We were served an assortment of breads and hummus. The breads were extremely greasy, but this was a blessing in disguise as I was able to save prime belly space for the real food :) It was a while before our server came to take our drink orders. I HAD to have the Elit Martini(a martini made with Stoli Elit Vodka and a truffle blue cheese olives). It was expensive at $ 24, but worth it considering the pour. Elit is one of my favorite vodkas. It is super smooth. The truffle blue cheese olives were unreal. It was a long time before our food orders were taken also. My friend and I split the Kyma Chips(Paper-thin zucchini & eggplant chips with tzatziki sauce) and the Octopus(Sushi grade mediterranean grilled octopus, onions, capers). The chips were amazing. They were surrounded by little pieces of fried cheese that were just to die for. The octopus was cooked and seasoned perfectly. As my entrée, I had the whole bronzini which was simple but just right. It comes with your choice of sides. I had the lemon potatoes but they were very, very salty so I didn’t have too much of it. We ended our meal with a huge slice of baklava. I wasn’t a fan. It was all nights and barely any phyllo dough. It tasted like a hardened form of cinnamon oatmeal. It was overly sweet, even for me. Service was very slow but overall a nice place for a special occasion.

Kyma, you have a great buzz and did not disappoint. Wife and I returned from a lovely anniversary dinner there this week. Right off the bat, service was great. We had a reservation amd were led to a table by the bar, being that it was a nice night, we asked the hostess for a spot outside. She gladly obliged and led us to a lovely table in the corner of the front yard. Landscaping, umbrellas, tiki torches, and heat lamps all add to the luxe, sexy, aura of this restaurant. This was only enhanced as the sun set upon us. On to the food, tomato salad was outstanding and worth every penny($ 19?), super fresh tomatoes, and a great balance of onion peppers, plenty of feta, and a luscious dressing of evoo and vinegar I believe. Perfectly spiced as well, everything I could ask for from a «Greek salad». On to the fish, cod was prepared beautifully, great char on the outside, virtually all bones removed. Delicate and savory, melt in your mouth fish. On the side we had the Israeli cous cous which was divine, yummy veggies mixed in with perfect tang from the tomatoes, if any complaint, cous cous seemed at bit buttery/heavy. We finished this evening in the shadows of the torches digging into their key lime pie. Great fluffy texture, strong sweet and sour lime flavor, a great way to end this Mediterranean meal. Looking forward to going back.

Let’s cut to the chase: Do Order: — grilled octopus — fried zucchini chips(I don’t even like zucchini and I love this appetizer) — fried Cod — Sole — organic chicken — pretty much any whole fish Avoid: — Sirloin(Tried it twice and both times were disappointing) — sesame fried cheese(it’s their special) — baklava(way too sweet for my taste) Not so consistent: — fried calamari(once it was fantastic, last night was just alright) — Greek Salad(fresh but nothing special IMHO) In general the food is fresh and well prepared. A few misses(I.e. Grilled Sirloin), but overall excellent food. Their service deserves special mention as it was impeccable. Well trained and attentive staff made the evening quite pleasant… even on an incredibly busy Easter evening.

Upon walking in, you are time warped to a sun-drenched island in Greece. Beautifully decorated with white chairs/tables. The intimate place settings and comfortable cushion seating make you feel right at home. The most basic ingredient of Greek cuisine is EVOO and it truly shines though in the classic, yet simple dishes that Kyma has to offer. Must trys: 1. Octopus — freshly, grilled cut up pieces mixed with red onions topped with evoo and dill 2. Tsipoura(whole fish) — ask for it deboned, this light flakey fish topped with capers is sure to satisfying your seafood cravings 3. Couscous — who knew something as simple as pearle couscous could pack such a flavorful punch 4. Lemon potatoes — cooked to perfection, so soft that it breaks right in half The valet parking and complimentary hummus and pita bread are added bonuses
