Bought this for my son for Christmas. It is an online purchase. Went to the store near our home and had them order it cause we were paying cash for it. Explained to the salesperson that we were getting it for our son cause he’s been wanting a computer for so long to play his games and such. Salesperson had every opportunity to discourage us from getting this one, but didn’t. He went over every detail and talked us into getting a 2 year protection plan. It was the only gift our son was getting, because of the cost, but we knew he would be surprised and excited… and he was very excited when he unwrapped the gift and saw it what it was. Come to find out, this computer is unable to download anything. None of the windows based games that he likes to play. We were so upset, but hey, we will return it and get him another one. We found another one on this site that was IN store and the next morning, we went to exchange. The lady in customer service took the computer and told us to go to the computer area and a salesperson would be right there. I explained the situation and we told him that we were interested in this new computer. He says straight up, that if my son wanted it for gaming purposes that he wouldn’t be happy with it, cause it would lag and whatever. He then pointed us to one that would be better.(Why didn’t the salesperson discourage the sale of the original one we bought? This would have saved all the heart ache I am still going through over a week AFTER Christmas) So, my son decides on the one the salesperson recommends, but of course they are out of stock. There are 2 stores a bit further away that have it, so we go up front to get a refund. Now to find out that the store cannot refund us the money cause it was a ‘special order’. Now, they could take my money when we ordered it, but they can’t give me my money back. I’m told to call this number and set up for someone to pick the computer from my home and then told I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for a refund check. I have called numerous times to see if there was any way to get it faster. Last week I was told they would contact the credit department to see what they could do to expedite the process and that I would hear from someone first thing Monday. I waited till almost noon and called them, explaining my situation for like the 5th or 6th time, finally getting the number to the ‘credit dept’, and then was told by the ‘credit dept’ that they would talk to ‘so and so’ to get the process expedited.. I will NEVER step foot in another office depot again! Once I get this check, we will go ANY where else to purchase my son’s computer. His Christmas gift, 2 months late.

I don’t know what it is about their print center but I have found this to be true at the Brainerd Road location in Chattanooga as well as this one. When you leave stuff and they promise you it will be ready three days later. You go back to pick it up and it is still not done. Independent print shops do a much better job at keeping customers happy and getting your jobs done on time and right the first time. Something Office Depot seems to have a problem with. Sometimes its not just about the price but about having the job done on time and right the first time. Office Depot seems to be like most big companies that have a lot of customers — they simple don’t care about the individual customers. And it does little to complain about to their management staff. Their area supervisor simple ignores any emails or phone calls directed to him about customer service issues. Very poor customer service.
