We were really excited to go tubing down the river. Unfortunately, the water level was low and we were told that we couldn’t go tubing. The main suggestion was to use a raft. We were also told about kayaks and canoes, but the girl at the counter let us know the raft would be fun and we would have paddles if we needed them. Turns out: this was a sales pitch. Tubes were $ 26 and the raft was $ 100. The raft was a nightmare. The wind was so strong that instead of a fun relaxing day playing in the river, we spent hours fighting to go against a heavy wind in a light weight raft built for 4. It was pure hell and not fun at all. When we went back into the office to pick up our drivers license and return the equipment, I asked one of the girls to speak to a manager. She said the manager isn’t in at the moment but her name is Bridget and she would be calling me. A few hours later I got a call and spoke with Bridget. She lied and said she was 3 feet behind the girl that sold us the raft idea. She wasn’t. It was the girl at the counter and another sales girl. No management when we initially signed up or when we returned our items. She also explained to me about how it’s not her problem if people have a good time while they are out there… who says that??? What company and their management allows people to have a bad time??? Bridget was a complete cold bitch on the phone and only cared that her sales person at the counter up sold us rather than caring that we struggled the entire time. Don’t waste your time using this company. Go to a used sports equipment store and buy your own stuff and buy your own stuff. The management made it very clear they don’t care about anything but taking your money and don’t care about the well being or safety of their clients.

We rented the paddle boards and had a really good time. Emily, Barbara and the entire staff was friendly. They gave us instructions on how to best use the paddle boards. They shared sun screen with us because we forgot ours by accident. They kept our belongings safe and chit chatted with us on the way out. These folks love what they do and we really enjoyed the experience.

I am SO thankful I found this wonderful company! My first time out on the Chattahoochee I used a company called Urban Currents… worst mistake ever! Shoot The Hooch has the most accommodating and kind staff. I visited their Azalea Park location Labor Day weekend, the place was bursting with customers but somehow their staff gave each customer the one on one attention they deserved. The phones were ringing off the hook and the office staff were doing their very best to answer all the calls. The guys who work outside were drenched in sweat doing their best to accommodate all customers as fast as possible. I admired the work ethic of their staff as well as how much they cared about making our experience an enjoyable one. They guys who pulled us off the water at the end asked how our trip was, that meant the most that they cared. BEST Part was they carried all the equipment for us, such customer service. I will most definitely be back this season and next!

Don’t do it! This has also been on my list of things to do. Just drive to Dahlonega, it will be worth it, I promise. The first problem was getting in while tubing. The launch dock is about 2 feet higher than the river. It was impossible to launch with a group of people at the same time. I seriously almost drowned. If it wasn’t for a tree in the river, our party of four wouldn’t have been able to float together. THEREISNODOCK that makes it easy, its a dock that’s way higher than the river. The second issue is that it took an hour to get the to end point. For a party of four, we paid over $ 100 and they wouldn’t take us back to the drop off point again. We would have had to pay another $ 100 for us to get a ride back to the drop in… I’m torn because I was dreading trying to launch again but it was not worth an hour. Just get your own tubes and two cars and do it yourself. The company is seriously low service and doesn’t care about quality of service. Just don’t do it!!!

At first we thought we were in for a treat. Little did we know what a rip off this was. Current was strong and we did the trip in 1.5 hours, they wouldn’t shuttle us back unless we paid the full price… All over again. $ 128 dollars for four people

I tried to shoot the hooch for the first time with a few friends today, but unfortunately we were not able to do it as planned. We called ahead and the girl on the phone told us we couldn’t tube because it was too cold(despite the fact that it was 85 degrees outside) and that the next cheapest option was to rent a canoe($ 50). We asked her if we’d be able to fit four people and a cooler in one canoe and she said yes. Once we got there, the staff wasn’t particularly helpful and the girl who«helped» us at the desk told us we had to rent two canoes($ 100). When we asked about the rafts she said they were no longer doing trips, since it was now 2:02 and they stopped raft departures at 2:00. None of this information was on the website and each person we spoke to on the phone told us something different than the person we spoke to in person, who was not friendly and didn’t really care about helping us figure out a good option. We were frustrated. We found a much better option and are now doing $ 10 tubing in Duluth( ) where the owner is letting us do a tubing trip past time because she cares about customer service.

Husband finally got me to canoe down the Chattahoochee. The folks at Chattahoochee Outfitters had us in and out of the office, and in the van to the drop off point in no time. Everyone was friendly and efficient. The location is easy to get to. Especially a good choice if you either 1) don’t have a way to tranport rental equipment like a canoe or 2) don’t want to deal with multiple cars. Would use them again.

Shoot the Hooch… lazier than a lazy river! This has been on my list of «things to do» for awhile now and I finally checked it off last weekend. I went into it without any expectations, so my review is pretty unbiased. We met at the headquarters in Azalea Park and it cost $ 27 to rent a tube and get a ride to the drop-off point. You can avoid the cost by bringing your own tube and having one person park at the ending point, and then driving together to the drop-off point. So, we got in the van and five teenage boys drove us to the drop-off point. I’m not sure why it took five of them to drop five of us off, but it was pretty comical. We met the other half of our group at the drop-off point, where we used our life jackets to tie our tubes together. At 11am, it was already really hot outside, but the water was freezing. It took us about four hours to get down the river– I wasn’t kidding when I said that it was lazier than a lazy river! At one point, we were all bored with moving at a snails pace(heat and hunger had something to do with it), but we did have a lot of fun. It was surprisingly relaxing and the water wasn’t as disgusting as I expected it to be. Overall, it was a fun trip for a group to go on– be sure to bring drinks(alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic) and snacks(grapes, oranges, etc) to help you stay cool!
