If you have a thing for fancy watches/clocks and need a service or repair, this is your place. It’s on the expensive side of things in terms of price, but it’s certainly worth it. Ambiance ======== The guy who compared this place to the opening ‘clock’ sequence of Back to the Future wasn’t far off. I’m glad he prepared me for the quiet tick-tock awesomeness of the showroom. Basically, it’s like you’re 12 and you just wandered into your crazy(loveable) uncle’s workshop. Service ====== In keeping with the ‘crazy uncle workshop’ theme, don’t be surprised if Cornell(the owner and operator) speaks tersely and directly, like you’re a teenager in his workshop. He comes off as a grumpy old man, but he is VERY good at what he does. He’s kind of like the«soup nazi» of timepieces. Don’t get me wrong — I mean that in the best of ways. In the span of about 15 minutes, he removed a watch band link to size a band to my wrist and also performed a complicated fix of my newly purchased used watch that involved making a CUSTOMPART for my watch band. I was able to watch him(pun intended) the whole time because his workstation is front and center in his store. Compared to certain other watch repair stores in the mall(I’ll let you look them up on Unilocal yourself) that like to ‘take your watch to another room’ — this type of transparency was appreciated. Pricing ====== Like I mentioned earlier, Cornell’s expertise comes with a price. For that watch band resize + repair, I paid a total of $ 55. But he was done in 20 minutes, and did great work. Summary ======== If you have a fancy watch that you don’t want to take to a mall-rat with watch repair tools, Cornell is your guy. The only thing Cornell could work on is is customer service skills, but I’m not going to begrudge him much for that — he sounds like he’s lived a hell of a life and does great work.

I have been to this shop on several occasions for repairs of clocks and watches. The service is excellent and reasonably priced. Repairs are always done in a very timely manner and a fair price is charged. All work is done on premises, so you can rest assured that your piece will not be sent out(small jobs can sometimes even be done while you wait). They have a beautiful selection of both grandfather and cuckoo clocks as well as watches for purchase as well. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality clocks, and trust Cornell’s expertise with any repair presented to him. ‘His knowledge of timepieces is unsurpassed, and he is a miracle worker with repairs and restorations! You will not be disappointed. Before I found this place I took an antique watch to another(very well known) repair shop and was devastated by the results of that experience. Swiss Clock and Watch made it right again and I have been a faithful customer ever since.

Remember the movie Back to the Future… the part with the crazy doctor’s laboratory full of clocks? That’s kind of what this clock shop reminds me of, except most of the clocks are massive grandfather clocks. They have a small space that is completely jammed full of really fancy grandfather clocks. It is an impressive collection. They carry pretty much the full line of Howard Miller clocks, which was the brand we had decided on. The place is run by a husband and wife team. Their website talks about them being from eastern Europe, learning from master Swiss clock makers, escaping from behind the Iron Curtain, blah blah. Sounds very cloak and dagger to me. We dealt mostly with the wife, and she sounds just off the boat from somewhere. She was very friendly and knowledgeable though. The husband was hunched over some dissembled pocket watch with a glass in his eye most of the time. They were not high pressure at all in their sales. We went back a few times before we settled in on the model we wanted. The price was fair but not an incredible deal. The best part was that we got free delivery and setup from the store owners themselves. They came to our home, helped us pick a location, installed, balanced the clock and everything. It was refreshing to get such great service from a retail store. Their store is just off Holcombe Bridge Road. Beware because I think the Unilocal map has it incorrect. They also do watch repair, and sell other timepieces such as wall clocks, cuckoos, pocket watches, etc. Even if you don’t buy anything, it is a neat store to walk around in.
