Tacos El Rey De Oro

This is my absolute favorite restaurant! You can’t go wrong with the steak taco, steak burrito suizo or my favorite, the steak tostada.

Love their tacos. The meat is season well. One of the better mexican places on the area. The service is good and the wait staff is nice. My wife also loves their pomegranate margaritas.

The restuarant has a nice clean atmosphere. We had the chicken torta and the steak borrito. The burito was good. The torta was just to salty. I would not go out of my way to eat there but if i was in neighbirhood and had a taste for mexican i would stop by again. The staff was super friendly and responsive

Of all the Mexican food restaurants in the area this is such a disappointment. We have tried it twice. Atmosphere is nice but servers are ambivalent about customer care and food is blah. Quesadillas, burritos rice, chips, all tried and disappointing.

Very flavorful, delicious Mexican food. If I were going to ding them at all, they’re not cheap. Very high quality though. Hits the spot when you need some hearty Mexican fare. Mmmm.

I had the steak burrito and it was probably one of the better ones I have had in the RL area. The meat was tender and very flavorful and everything tastes fresh.
The inside was nicely decorated however I was thrown off by the front windows, wasn’t expecting it to look the way it did inside.
Overall a very good experience, I will be back very soon!

Went here recently with my husband, and we loved it! I always get tacos de carne asada (steak tacos) at every Mexican restaurant we go to, and these were probably in my top three favorite tacos ever. My husband got steak and chicken fajitas which he said were very tasty. The service was pretty good, water refills were a little slow, and the chips were pretty average, but the salsa had a really good kick. We haven’t tried many places in the area yet to call this our favorite, but we will definitely be back!

Being in RL you’ve got to be able to compete. There are so many Mexican options. I liked the ambiance of this place I everything seemed new and it was well kept. The salsas were flavorful, but the tacos didn’t have a lot of flavor. I’ve had better everywhere else in Round Lake. The deal clincher was the rice and beans-​how can a Mexican restaurant have flavorless rice and beans? I won’t be coming back when there are so many other good choices nearby.

My daughter and I stopped at Tacos El Rey De Oro yesterday for a late lunch/​early dinner. First have to say… we enjoyed the atmosphere. Comfortable booths, nice lighting, and loved the floors and walls. Also, very clean. The only thing I thought was unfortunate was the front window. We were concerned since there were hand written specials taped up all over the windows and door as well as a tacky sidewalk sign. If we weren’t brave… and read the previous reviews… we probably would have left. I think they are too good and beautiful inside to have their windows and door covered in tacky papers.
Anyway…we really enjoyed the food. I had the steak fajitas with a side of ranchero sauce. The sauce was so good, the steak was nice and lean. I don’t remember any fatty or grissly pieces at all. My daughter had steak tacos and a side of a quesadilla (which was a nice option to be able to order ala carte).
Since we can’t just be easy and order off the menu, we really appreciated our waitresses friendly and accommodating attitude. She was very sweet and we received exactly what we ordered, and how we ordered it. You may be scratching your head… but we are real foodies and picky ones at that… annoying admittedly… but within our rights as customers and sometimes we don’t get exactly what we order and how we order it… at least not the first time. Here however, she paid close attention and everything came out accurate and delicious.
Ok, reason for 4 instead of 5 stars…2 reasons. 1. Though the service was friendly, I did have an empty glass and it took a while for her to check on us and bring the check at the end. We were there about 2pm and there were only 2 other tables there and occassional pick up orders. There really wasn’t any reason for it. 2. The food took the longest than any mexican restaurant we’ve been to (per my daughter’s observation). Personally, I didn’t have an issue since it was Sunday and we weren’t in a hurry. But, if you don’t have an hour and a half for a meal, it could be an issue.
In fairness, this was our first time. Maybe it was an off day. However, since the service was so friendly and accurate and the food was so good, I can’t be mad about it.
We will definitely be back and would most definitely recommend trying them!

My new favorite mexican restaurant! This place has some authentic quality Mexican food. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the nice portions you get. The inside of this place is very new and nice (the outside is deceiving). Will definitely head back to this place.
