Service was awful! Slow slow slow. Looks like they are closed for good anyway. If they ever reopen, don’t waste your time. I will say the jerk chicken was really good. Just took 1.2 hrs to get it.

First time Unilocaler!: my meal here was delicious! ! I had the smothered chicken w mashed potatoes and greens. My husband had the jerk chicken. This was a delicious, comfortable, amazing meal. I will be back. Next time I’m getting the curry chicken! Our server was wonderful, I can’t believe this place was so close by.

This is great jerk chicken. Ultra tender the chicken just falls off the bone. It is spicy but at a perfect level. I highly suggest you give this place a try. We are short on unique flavors in this area. It is great to have another option.

So happy to find some Caribbean food in the northern suburbs– the jerk chicken and smothered chicken very good, even better the next day as left overs! Cornbread to die for, a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Jerk chicken was outstanding. Good kick and lots of meat. Cornbread really added too. Not much on atmosphere, but friendly staff. Don’t let the strip mall location keep you away.

I was skeptical of all the five star reviews. But as you see, I also rated them five stars. Let me sum it up: Flavorful, fresh and perfectly cooked food with flavors you can’t get anywhere else. My daughter and wife joined me to try this place. They are BYOB and there’s even a liquor store next door. My wife had the Smothered Pork Chop. My daughter had the Chicken Alfredo and I had the Jerk Chicken. My wife is one of the most picky eaters I know. She loved her pork chop and raved about the cornbread. It was awesome. My Jerk Chicken was amazing. The best chicken dish I have had. Moist and unbelievable flavor. My daughter and wife helped me finish it. The Jamaican Rice was fantastic. We will definitely be back and try the other items. This place is a must try.

I just found my new spot. The food was good and the portion size was great for the price, which is not expensive. I brought more food than I should b/c I didn’t finish my jerk chicken. Hell, I didn’t even start the sweets yams that I brought, which were good as well. Totally recommend this place. SN: While driving to the location, the GPS system on google as well as my iPhone did not assist me so well in finding this restaurant. It got me to the area just not to the restaurant. I suggest just driving Belvidere south and you will see the shopping center to where the business is located on your left hand side if you are coming from Great Lakes. Great people. Great food.

The Jerk Chicken was probably the best I have ever had and the corn bread was perfect. The only issue was wait time, which was over 30 minutes just to get our salads and thats understandable since there’s only one server and one cook, but they have to find help fast or they will lose paying customers. Especially on a Friday night. The table behind us wanted to order jerk chicken to go and the server said that would be over an hour wait and we wanted to order extra cornbread as we were leaving and the server said that wasnt possible. A few more families walked in so hopefully they can find more help soon. Its nice having a Caribbean restaurant in an area that offers very little in food options and with a little more help and patience from the patrons this place should do well. I will be back the food was worth the wait.

We’re so glad Aiden’s Place has reopened. The jerk chicken, smothered chicken and curry chicken are all excellent. Jamaican rice and peas and the candied sweet potatoes are our favorite sides. The corn bread is delicious as well. Please make extra — you’ve run out twice and we were so disappointed. We look forward to our leftovers and plan to enjoy many more meals at Aiden’s Place. Can’t wait to try them for breakfast!

Glad I got to finally try this place. I ordered a bunch of take out so we could try several things and my husband never had Jamaican food before. Almost everything was a big hit with us and we have a ton of leftovers. I think the smothered chicken is a good gateway option. Juicy chicken mildly spicy. The Jerk Chicken is very spicy. Also good. The beef stir fry had well-seasoned mushrooms and was hearty.

I’m planning to go back to try more things on the menu. The Mac and cheese was excellent so was the fried shrimps. The interiors of the place were a little less than expected but they are working on that but the food was where it’s at. Plus the staff was extremely friendly.

Fantastic. Ordered the Jerk Chicken, Fried Catfish and Smothered Pork Chop for dinner. Each came with 2 sides, corn bread and choice of soup or salad. Jerk will catch you by surprise with the heat. This baby’s HOT and fantastic. Chicken was tender. The pork chop was delicious too with no heat at all, more like a gravy. I didn’t have the fish, but was told it was tasty and also very hot. Will definitely go back. Pricing very reasonable

Who would have thought Round Lake would do Jamaican this well! Glowing food reviews warranted. Chicken noodle soup uniquely spiced and very good. Grilled Jerk Chicken was delicious: tender, juicy, nicely spiced — flavorful, zingy — but not too hot. Nice flavor of grill without being scorched or overwhelming. Corn bread moist(with hint of pumpkin pie spice?) Mac N Cheese garlicky but my 8 y.o. still really enjoyed it. Yams were home made. Sweet, but not too. Décor is … clean, stark, charm-less. Could really use some help here. Waiter very helpful. Despite complete lack of atmosphere AND being 30+ min away from my home, will come back again for the food.

Jerk Chicken(super tender and deliciously spicy) was incredible as were the side dishes of Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Alfredo so delicious along with a fresh salad and yummy basalmic vinaigrette. Cornbread is unlike any we have had before-moist and not too sweet. Staff very courteous and helpful. Give Aiden’s place a try. You won’t regret it.

It ain’t fancy, but the food is really good! It was everything I could do not to devour my plate and my date’s. This restaurant has been here about 3 months. I saw it pop up on Unilocal and was intrigued. I had not been impressed with the previous Filipino restaurant, but this is Caribbean, and I do love me some jerk chicken. It’s sort of become a Halloween tradition at my house when we hand out candy to the rugrats– I mean, adorable children. So I bookmarked and waited for the opportunity to go. And when my Unilocal friend Denise stamped it with her approval, I got even more anxious to try it. Our initial visit was on a Thursday evening about 6 pm. We were the only customers there for the entire time. I can only attribute this to the remote location(isolated strip mall) and that it’s new. We were warmly greeted, and during later convo, our server told us it is pretty busy on the weekend. My first impression was that it’s really stark, plain Jane, no frills, but it’s also very clean with pretty orchids atop each table and lots of light. I ordered the jerk chicken with a vegetable medley, macaroni and cheese, and side salad for $ 9. My husband ordered the smothered chicken with mashed potatoes, rice and peas, and a side salad for $ 8. We’re no dummies; we wanted to share and sample lots of things. It’s also served with cornbread. The salads arrived within a few minutes, standard side salad and the ranch, and balsamic dressings were tasty.(Kinda picky about ranch but this one was good.) While eating our salads, we could smell delicious things cooking, wafting over to us. Then our dinners and cornbread came maybe ten minutes later. The portions are ample! They aren’t humongous but there’s plenty and you will not go home hungry. And I have to say, it’s quite affordable. Really, it’s not much more than a value meal. Plenty of good food, low price point, good flavor. The presentation was pretty and colorful, particularly my plate with the vegetable medley(which is corn, green beans, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, btw). I wasn’t expecting much for the veggies, cuz they aren’t really the star, but I was pleasantly surprised how nicely seasoned and cooked these were. I would absolutely order this as a side if you are looking for a healthier side but still very tasty. The Mac and cheese is not something I order many places cuz I have my favorites(Kuma’s Corner) and everything else is lesser. But I took a chance and this was a good not overly cheesy or indulgent home made version. It was hard to push it away when I knew I’d had enough. Just a good but simple Mac and cheese. The mashed potatoes side my husband ordered was delicious and real. No doubt. Good home cooking. Are you picking up on the down-home vibe because that’s what this food is about. And of course the star of the show: the chicken. If you want some spicy kick, get the jerk chicken. It’s definitely packing heat. The smothered chicken is also a great non-spicy option and you could smother that gravy on styrofoam and it would be delicious. In fact, one item I wasn’t too impressed with was the rice and peas(beans, actually, I believe). It was just ok. My husband liked it especially with the gravy, but as I said, that gravy… yummy. I personally wouldn’t order the rice unless my entrée was saucy. That’s just my preference. Meanwhile, both bone-in cut up chunks of chicken in our entrees were full of flavor, juicy and delicious. Super impressed with that. Throughout the meal, our server was super sweet, attentive and checked in on us often. As we were the only ones there, I should hope so. Haha But she, Virginia, was so nice, we really liked her. We will definitely be back and, I fear, become regulars. As others mentioned, we have few options in the Round Lake area, so anything new is of interest. But, to keep us coming back, that’s different. Different is good, ya’ll. If you are looking for atmosphere and décor, it’s not there yet. It’s pretty bare bones and simple, and quite honestly I thought I was going to pull the long draping table cloth off the table many times. So, just know, you are not coming here for the aesthetics. You are coming here to make your taste buds happy. And they will thank you with a happy dance. Overall, the food is 5 star in my book, and that’s the part that matters most to me.

My mouth is on fire. But in the best way possible. Tried this place tonight for carry out based on the Unilocal reviews and Google. I have been to this location before when it was a different restaurant so I have been hesitant to try Thanks to those who reviewed before me. The Jerk Chicken was outstanding. Heat galore but tangy and sweet at the same time. The Chicken Alfredo with Pasta was very good and enough for three meals. Corn bread… check. Candied Sweet Potatoes… check. Home made Split Pea soup… check. Dinner Salad w/Ranch… check. $ 20 for fresh made home cooking… double check. In the Round Lake/Grayslake area where a new restaurant worth anything comes around once every 3 years, I suggest everyone who reads this give this place a try and give your feedback so they hang around for awhile.

Where to begin… I ate here during the week and had a fantastic dinner and lunch for the next day! I ordered the Smothered Chicken and was floored by how flavorful and savory everything was– whatever is in that gravy is to die for! The sweet cornbread that was served before our meal was probably one of the best things I have tasted in 2015. I told our server that I would be back to order just cornbread and make a meal of it sometime. it was THAT good. I’m excited to go back and try their breakfast, which is served only on the weekends. Aiden’s Place is worth a trip, and they also offer carry-out. Close to Baxter and other offices in the Round Lake area as well.
