Acorn Learning Academy

Ok, so I have been sitting on this review for a bit now and I feel like we have enough experience at Acorn to give a well thought out and educated review. We decided on Acorn after thorough searching for a number of reasons: 1. They have amazing flexibility with scheduling. I only need care on Mondays and Wednesdays and they are able to accommodate. 2. The teachers are kind and the rooms are filled with fun stuff. 3. Shaded playground for them to play. 4. Coded access in the front door for safety 5. Proximity to our home and work 5. Hours (6:30 — 6:00) 6. Food is included with tuition.
We truly do love Acorn. Miss Jamie is wonderful and we love her reports and her loving and caring attitude for our daughter. She is truly a gem.
I am taking off 1 star because the front office is a tad disorganized and hard to reach. Several emails have gone unanswered and they aren’t keen on answering the phone either. The billing is slightly wonky meaning they email a statement each week and while it is nice to have, the statement is pretty hard to read. The school itself is slightly run down, however, I think it adds to the charm.
All in all, we really enjoy having our little girl here and we feel like she truly does grow mentally and emotionally and we feel lucky to have found Acorn.

Both our children attended Acorn — so we have been part of the Acorn family since around 2006. Our youngest is starting kindergarten in the fall — so we will be sad to say good-​bye to our child’s second home. The teachers are dedicated to the children and school. We have never worried about our child after drop-​off and he is always happy and has plenty of stories to tell upon pick-​up. Our son feels loved and safe at Acorn and that’s the most important thing to us.

Our son Holden has gone to Acorn since he was about 8 weeks old (now almost 6 months old). This is not a brand new, shiny environment like some of the other daycares we looked at. I see that as a good thing however, as it means the place is more comfortable and like home for my baby.
I only have experience with the newborn room at this point, but the caregivers in there do a good job and are attentive. My son enjoys going in the mornings and is always happy when I pick him up.
Another nice thing about Acorn is that they have part-​time scheduling (ie. our son stays with family two days a week typically). However, they are also accommodating if we need to have him there more or less days during the week on any given week.

Acorn Learning Academy has been a wonderful experience for our family. Our daughter had attended another school that was Montessori and this school is by far been a better fit for her. The teacher as well as other staff members are all involved in my daughters day everyday. She is happy when I pick her up everyday and is learning at a great pace to be ready for kindergarten. The teacher reports on what they learned that day, what she ate, who she played with and what she enjoyed doing as well as if she has had a bad day (which have been very few bad days!). They exhibit the perfect combination of compassion and discipline. It is so wonderful that they serve nutritious breakfasts AND lunches daily at no additional cost. They have student parties and will hold events for the parents and kids to attend (i.e. fall festivals, box car racing etc.). They are also open for more days of the year than the average which shows their commitment to providing dependable care for all families. They also have extracurricular programs such as FunBus Gymnastics and Shining Stars acting class which my daughter absolutely loves. Although it is not a brand new building, it is a very clean one and well kept and most importantly, secure. We highly recommend Acorn Learning Academy!

Acorn Learning was the answer for this former preschool teacher and first time Mom. My daughter was born prematurely and is my first, and will be my only, child. Because of this I made the decision to be a SAHM for the first 18 months of her life. When the time came to find a daycare, because I needed to return to work part-​time, I explored many different options, including in-​home care or a nanny share. I was anxious and stressed over the idea of leaving my daughter until I found Acorn Learning. It was the only place I toured where I could envision sending my daughter. I left there excited to enroll her, not filled with dread over having to compromise on a place. The teachers were warm and welcoming, the facility was safe, and it was inside our budget. The building itself is slightly outdated but it is clean and safe and has a warm and loving family atmosphere. The director and teacher worked with me to make the transition slowly and as painlessly as possible. When the time came to leave my daughter on her first full day I walked from her room crying. As I left the building not one, but two, employees noticed that I was upset and gave me a hug and the reassurance I needed. My daughter is fairly shy and introverted and her teacher has the finesse it takes to welcome and engage her without overwhelming her… she even convinced her that painting was fun after many months of failed attempts at home. I’m so glad that we are part of the Acorn Learning Academy family.

Both of my daughters attended Acorn Learning Academy and had great experiences.
We found a challenging curriculum mixed with fun times and good social interactions for the kids. We attended Acorn for 5+ years and found the staff to be friendly and interactive with the parents as well as the kids. Any minor issues we had from time to time, were handled quickly and improvements were made right away.
I would definitely recommend Acorn
