Brake Check

I needed to get my brakes done and had no idea where to go, I landed on brake check because it was the closest place to where I live… and I’m really glad I chose brake check. This place is amazing, the people that work there are honest and straight forward. They tell you exactly what you need done and nothing more. They showed me around my car explaining the diagnostics on my brakes, gave me a fair estimate and couldn’t be happier with the result. I definitely recommend Brake Check and will be back for my next oil change which they also offer.

I just had the worst automotive experience of my life and I’m a baby boomer. I recently moved to Round Rock from Dallas so looking for a new place to change my oil. Unfortunately, I went to Brake Check on S IH 35 as my first auto repair in Round Rock. I should have been warned off by the mechanic working while eating pizza, but I was not. The place was not crowded and I willingly waited the 45 minutes it took to change my oil. Within a minute after leaving the lot, I entered IH 35 and immediately begun hearing something making a loud metallic racket under my car. I pulled off at the nearest exit and looked under my car to see a metal grate hanging off from my car and dragging on the street. So, I called the Brake Check. A man named Cameron introduced himself as manager and I told him of my situation and that I needed immediate help. He said I would have to drive back to the Brake Check and I asked him to please send someone out to shore up the grate before I drove it back. He refused and eventually issued a profane «f…you» and hung up on me. Good fortune shown on me as I had pulled off right next to another automotive shop who promptly used plastic taps to temporarily adhere the grate to my car (so it wouldn’t be further damaged) and drove it to their shop where they fixed it. I asked what they thought had happened and the response was… Someone just didn’t know how to do this or didn’t care how to do it. They did not charge me for the repair. I will never return to Brake Check again.

I was going to replace my brake pads myself but thought I would call Brake Check just to see what their pricing was and if they would try and sell me everything on the block. Cameron answered the phone and was extremely helpful and guided me through the services and what to expect. I decided to take it in and the experience was great. They were super friendly and zero pushiness. I have to get my front done soon and I will definitely return to them.

Had to find a brake repair shop while in Round Rock, TX Had no idea who to use since I was from out of state. These guys were great. Walked me through & showed me what was wrong, gave me options & felt like I was treated fairly!!!

I was really impressed with the level of service here! I went into Break Check knowing exactly what work I needed done, the manager greeted us promptly and discussed a few deals with us. After a few minutes, he suggested a free break check before running numbers. They took me to the back and pointed out what was needed and not and didn’t try to up sell me simply because I’m a female (yes I’ve had that happen) and even threw in an additional discount. Needless to say I’m coming back and highly recommend their service!

I was driving my daughter’s car recently, and thought she should get her brakes checked. I remembered that I had a good experience at this place a few years ago, and I suggested that she go there. She went this morning, and raved about how great they treated her, and she walked me through the estimate they gave her — all sounded very well thought out and fair. They get kudos for being consistently good and for treating a young adult female fairly and professionally. They’ll be my first choice from now on.

Took my wife’s van here to have the brakes done. The second day after I took the van in the brakes were making noise. I thought it might be normal and gave it a couple weeks and it got a lot worse. I took it to my regular mechanic and it turns out the hardware for the driver’s side caliper was missing and never installed. The play in the pad caused the hardware on the other side to break. I also thought 2 ½ hours for brakes was a bit long considering there was only one other Customer there.
I cut my losses and didn’t bother taking the van back here based on some of the other reviews I read and the fact that they really should know how to put brakes on a car. That level of incompetence is just unacceptable to me especially at a place called «Brake Check». To be fair, it might have been a one off, but my time is limited and valuable to me and the safety of my family paramount, so I’m not taking any chances and I won’t be back.
Customer Service was nice and friendly enough. They did walk me back and show me what was wrong, thoroughly explained everything, and gave me my options. They were a bit pushy on also doing the rear brakes and the alignment both of which were fine (the car is only 2 years old), but I understand they have to upsell. It’s not about the Customer Service though, it’s about the work that they did and they failed in that regard. I’ll stick with my regular mechanic.

I went there to get my tires rotated, aligned and balanced. They started work in the car right away. when they had the front tires down, they called me in to discuss the issue. The tires were old and losing the steel belt firmness which meant the alignment wouldn’t stay long. John instead suggested that I get new tires and refused money for the work done to get the tires off and on the machine.
Impressed with their honesty and integrity, they could have easily charged me but they didn’t. I will surely be a customer and give them business in the future :)

Great customer service

My family and I are relocating back to California. I took my vehicle in to Brack Check for a wheel alignment. They did an excellent job and was very thorough. My timing was perfect because there wasn’t even a wait. I’ve been to Brake Check on several occasions. Each time, I was always satisfied.

This place seems under staffed. Way too long to check 1 hr 30 min. Way way too long for pad replacement 2+ hours. I wish they told me thus will take nearly 4 hours.

John the director is an honest hard working man that won’t make a buck that doesn’t save you one and only tells it like it is. I went in for brake inspection and told me they were fine and didn’t need any service. But my alignment was off quite a bit and would end up costing me new tires, so fixed it, 20% off and lifetime $ 3 alignments here on out, also gave me coupon for 4^th free oil change, conventional or synthettic, the ladder meaning big bucks savings !! Awesome shop where you won’t get the run around, but straight up, like it should be :-) A++

I took my vehicle to Brake Check already knowing I needed work but said it was just for maintenance to test the honesty. I had already taken it to 2 other shops for inspection and for best price. This shop was by far the best I’ve been to. Best staff, quicker service and prices!
I couldn’t pay for the work today but will definitely be back payday!

Sunday afternoon and we’re a caravan of three vehicles when I smell something burning and see smoke from the lead truck, which is hauling the trailer of belongings. We all pulled over and determined it was the breaks. I quick look on Unilocal turned up the closest brake place was a mile and a half away. We spoke to the guys there to confirm the location and slowly pulled in. They have been so helpful. Helped unhook the trailer, gave us a cool place to rest (including the dog), and fixed the brakes in about an hour. Tyler and Travis took excellent care of us. They even pointed out something they could fix, but would need attention soon. Pleasure doing business here! Thanks!

Went to the Just Brakes up the road. NEVER AGAIN. Called and spoke with Frank and Noe. These guys took care of me in about an hour. I wasted two and half waiting at the Just Brakes for NOTHING. Got in and out with a reasonable price. No Pushy sales and just overall a great place, they didn’t talk down to me because I am a woman. they are awesome and this was great. WILL BE BACK. and WILL send anyone to them!

Having to have breaks redone at dealership with genuine parts. The aftermarket parts are making noise and have scraped the roters so they will need to be resurfaced again. What a di$$apointment.
Great experience from online appointment booking to prompt friendly service. Frank fully explained my problem and gave a full estimate of charges before the work was started. Charges were reasonable and service was fantastic. Would highly recommend. I really appreciate weekend hours so I did not have to take time off from work to get repair done. Thanks Guys!

First time I’ve ever been to any type of brake shop. My brakes have been Hissing for a couple weeks now. I went to brake check and it was a pleasant experience. E.J. asked me to explain what I heard and what the issue was. He then did a free visual inspection and walked me through what he saw and what that meant. He then gave me options and costs possibilities. I didn’t feel pressured at all and he wasn’t pushy at all. I didn’t feel like be was trying to rip me off which is something I’m always worried about in auto stores. The only downside was that they were super busy. I was told that it would take and hour and a half… I spent 3 hours there. But I’m patient and they had coffee and tv. But they might want to set better time expectations when they are really busy.

We were driving home from Austin to Dallas. And there was a pop and then the next time I hit the brakes, there was an awful grinding noise. We got off the highway and started to stop at brake places. As it was after 5pm, the first two we stopped at were closed. We stopped at Brake Check, and they were closing for the night, only two staff members remained.
They said to us they could fix our brakes in the morning as they were done for the day. I said we were from out of town. They then said they would take a look and see what they could do. They then did a pretty big brake repair/​replacement on our car, after closing. The customer service and the attitude of the employees at this place was fantastic. Both gentlemen went above and beyond to help us get back on the road again. I have no real concept if the price was higher or lower than if we had the brakes replaced in a non emergency situation, but getting back on the road and not having to stop in town overnight and have all of us miss a day of work and school was worth any extra we may or may not have paid.
We also got a lifetime of the ownership of the car warranty on the work. I was so impressed, I would actually drive down to Austin to get my brakes worked on. For any of my Austin friends, please when getting your brakes done, use these guys. The customer service is some of the best I have seen.

Nice guys but Way to pushy! No means no! Will never go back!

I have been a regular customer for the last 5 years. I went in for alignment yesterday and had them check out my oil leak. Turns out that stupid car wash Mister Car Wash that changes oil left the nut loose and it wasn’t even hand tightened.
Anyways, my car is running like new again and alignment is perfect.
I have had really good luck with the staff at this particular location, they are honest and don’t suggest nonexistent issues to jack up your bill.
I bought the lifetime alignment program and recommend it if they still have it.
This is a great place to have minor car repairs done and way cheaper than Audi and some of the others.
Never had a problem, staff is super friendly and keeps in touch with you should they recommend any other repairs. Never gotten an outrageous bill.
Will continue to be a loyal customer. Honest car mecahnics are in short demand, but have heard nothing but rave reviews about this particular location.
