I just got an email from these folks. I was like what do they want now? It was a reminder that I hadn’t paid my bill yet! Somehow I overlooked this. Ive never ever had so many opportunities to pay a bill. Who does this? A+ Crossroads!

We’ve had multiple issues with this company. Needless to say we have $ 550 deposit sitting on our account that I’m afraid we won’t get back when we move. They have terrible customer service and could care less about your personal situations. After carefully calling every month and paying on time plus the illegal fee you are charged for credit card payment, I forgot this month! Great, so the only other option after hours to pay on time is online plus that stupid illegal fee. After months of not using this option I thought it would be as easy as logging in and making a payment. As it turns out we don’t have access to pay online. Used multiple browsers to rule out issues on my end and I’m 100% sure they have this option blocked after an untimely disconnect even though payment was made on time which made it the last straw for my husband. After our service was wrongfully disconnected for nonpayment, even though the payment was submitted online on the date due. We had a reconnect «deposit» which is now a fee since we’ve maxed out our deposit limit. My husband demanded to have the $ 50 fee waved being that it was a week before Christmas and we honestly couldn’t afford the $ 50. He made his way to the «owner» and the unprofessional manner in which this man treated the situation, my husband and our family during difficult times is in our book the worst customer service that will never earn our respect especially as a human! So I called today to resolve the issue and pay my bill 2 days late now and as it turns out the office staff left early for the day. The only thing I can do now is call first thing on Monday. That will make my bill 5 days late, and will put us in jeopardy of a disconnect since their policy is so insanely strict and corrupt! I wish our MUD had a different utility company. We would set up auto payments but I don’t trust they will receive payment «on time» or if they didn’t we would find out by disconnection of our water. They hold your utility over your head and you have no choice what so ever to pay the ridiculous fees! Especially the Credit Card fee! That is illegal!

Wow. After getting the bird from the guy in your clearly-​marked company truck «101A» today (while driving courteously making the same commute to my same home of 10 years), I’m not shocked at all to see this site… Prayers for you and your random acts of hatred, good sir.

HORRIBLE SERVICE and they are thieves. We rented in Paloma Lake to see if we’d be interested in buying there and raising our family there. Literally, these ridiculous people were the reason we decided not to. They have horrible service, horrible thievery and have now decided to generously give themselves net 90 terms to repay our $ 150 water deposit! I tried filing a complaint against them with TCEQ, PUC, and City of Round Rock. None of them would take the complaint. They said the MUD board of Paloma Lake would be the ones to file a complaint with as they chose them. Absolute disappointment. Glad we found out before buying there!!!

This place can’t get any worse. My card was compromised and changed by the bank. Instead of sending me a physical letter stating my payment didn’t go through, they send me an email from «NoReply» (that’s how it came up in the From field), and it says, «Your credit card auto payment was DECLINED» but no mention of the company or who the email is from. It wasn’t until they sent me a letter 6 days later informing me my payment hadn’t gone through with a late fee and threat to shut off our service. We call immediately and they said they can’t update the info because the systems were down. We call back later and get it fixed, but somebody with business sense PLEASE explain to this place how companies should operate. We want to pay them, and we want them to tell us in a timely manner if we haven’t, but apparently that’s too much to ask.

If I could do zero stars I would. HORRIBLE company. I lived in Blockhouse for 7 years and I am so glad to be out of that neighborhood because of this ridiculous excuse for a MUD management company. Base fee is $ 50 JUST TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM BEFORE YOU EVEN USE ONE DROP OF WATER. I moved a month ago. Called to follow up on the LARGE deposit I had to give them 7 years ago and was told I SHOULD get it in 90 days. Pathetic excuse for a MUD management company that can set their own rules with no regulation.

Their billing dept. is a complete joke. They have zero common sense or customer service skills. Their scheme is to get you to pay your bill online so they can charge you an extra percentage in order to process it and they call it an access fee which seems to be around 5%. So instead I opt to mail them a check using bill pay. Well they charged me a late penalty once because my pre-​scheduled check did not arrive on the due date (sent 4 business days in advance) so my bank called them and eventually got the late charge taken off. Last month not only was the check sent out 4 business days before it was due but I also had it set to pay 2 days before it was actually due and then they said they did not receive by the due date and tacked on a late fee. They will not reverse it even after my bank called and told them the payment was mailed out 4 days in advance and can see the postmark and the check was dated to match the pay date I had selected (two days before it was due). On the bill it says «PAY THIS AMOUNT AFTER YOUR DUE DATE». Well If my check was mailed 1 week before it was even due why in the world am I paying a late fee? Why? because they want me to go online and pay their fee to ensure timely payment. I absolutely think they held on to the check an extra day before processing it so it would come across as late. I do not normally believe that companies are actually doing this type of thing but this is the only company I have ever had issues with bill pay. My bank paid my late fees because this company is so ridiculous, they said that there is rarely any issues and almost always resolved when they call the company and explain how the payment was made well in advance. Not this company, no.
I do not think I have another option for a utility company because believe me I would not be giving this company money if I didn’t need water. They should just fire everyone and start over. I would be ashamed if my company had such terrible reviews and did nothing to fix it.
Is there a way to report all their terrible ratings and horror stories to the county to maybe have another company take control of their district?

Why can’t they leave the office hours on their website? If you call on a Saturday, they answer the phone «Thank you for calling Cross Roads Utility Services,» and then when you have a question about services they say, «You need to call back during office hours.» Kind of hurt my feelings.

Avoid this company and their arbitrary billing methods. They absolutely will not work with anyone in regards to their bill and the office staff is just rude.

Joanna at their office is completely mean and heartless. Debbie is fairly nice, but only a little. They have the power to abruptly penalize you $ 150 and they don’t notify you ahead of time that they plan on doing it. Then they will try and turn your water off if you don’t pay their arbitrary penalty. It’s a little like extortion.
If you can avoid this company, I definitely would because this company does not seem to care about human beings. Just be super careful when dealing with this company. Joanna especially.

Crossroads Utility Service penalized me $ 150 just because they could. So, I paid the $ 150 extortion fee and they turn off my water anyway! Unbelievable.

Crossroads did turn the water back on after I called to them. It is very strange that they were not aware of my payment and turned my water off. Aren’t they supposed to know if customers pay? Shouldn’t they check to see if customers have paid BEFORE they turn off the customers water? strange –
The entire episode was a big negative. I have been a homeowner for over 20 years, and lived in a few different neighborhoods, but I have never been treated so badly by any utility company. I will let it go because I don’t want to give them the power to upset me, but in the future (if someone from Crossroads is reading this) I think they should TELL customers «Hey, we are going to slap you with a $ 150 arbitrary fee» rather than just do it. I think in a free country, people should not be treated like this. It makes me feel like I live in communist Russia.

They won’t accept bank transfers. A friend that knows them told me that they think it would cost them late fees. The BBB gives them an F rating also.

Why would Travis County Water District utilize them?

Avoid Crossroads Utility Services if at all possible. If you can’t avoid them make sure you learn to read and track your meter from the day you move in.
I just moved into my first MUD «Crossroads Utility Services» water district and got a first hand taste of what all the complaints are about. My very first month’s bill they sent me stated I used 49,000. Gallons of water! I called and tried to explain I don’t have a pool and my sprinkler system is turned completely off so I felt someone has made an error and that I felt confident I have not used that CRAZY amount of water. They laughed and said they would check into it and not to worry but it sounds like you have a broken underground pipe. She said they would send someone out to inspect for leaks and check the meter. Much to my surprise they didn’t find a leak but after lots of tests on the meter they said it appears to be working correctly so I must have used all that water myself and I was responsible to pay the full amount for 49k gallons of water. I called again and tried explaining I’m very water conscious person and that I was living alone during that period and felt it was impossible for one person to use up that amount of water unless they were trying to start their own underground aquifer. They tried to convince me it was the sprinkler system that was in the off position was coming on by itself or lighting was causing it to come on. I think we all know what the likelihood of that happening is… lol! Please note I would not have been opposed to agreeing to split the bill with them in the spirit of being reasonable and chalk it up to a simple mistake but the supervisor chose the tack of trying to convince me I somehow mysteriously used 49k gallons of water without one plausible explanation after I told him none of his usual suspects applied… No Pool, Sprinkler System only ran once and has been in the completely off no power position and no leaks. He then offered up; he once used 5k gallons of water only by leaving his faucet only halfway open for a couple of hours and that it adds up quickly. I’m assuming that must have been a fire hose since it would have had to be spitting out 41.66 gals per minute to hit that 5k mark in two hours. Lol! (Funny but sadly true that he could say that with a straight face in an effort to convince me; it only takes one little mistake like that and POOF like magic there goes 49 thousand gallons of water.)
