Hatch House School – Sendero Campus

My son has been attending Hatch House Sendero Springs (Round Rock) since about 2 weeks after they opened. In all honesty I had been extremely disappointed in the Leander/​Cedar Park area options and had spent the previous 8 months trying to find something that was better than his old daycare to absolutely no avail. I honestly think my husband was about to kick me out of the house if I took him on one more daycare tour. Then I learned about the opening of the new school and everything changed. My life went from daily calls to my son’s daycare asking why this happened, or why the teacher said/​did that to not a single call to the daycare to discuss issues in more than 6 months. Even my coworkers commented on how all my nightmare stories, and daily phone calls to the old daycare director had almost instantly disappeared. I had finally, finally, gotten my son into a place that was worth sending him to.
I truly have never been more pleased with a daycare and my son had been to 4 different ones by just over 2. I have found the daycare to be extremely accommodating to my sons (and our) little idiosyncrasies including letting me bring in food for days when sugary snacks/​carbey foods were provided and even helping to modify their weekly activities so that my son could participate without having to consume the sugar involved. For example, they had a day where they were making homemade ice cream. We do not allow our son to have sugar. Instead of just opting him out of the project they let him make plain milk with ice and left out the sugar. He got a milk slush (which made him very happy), he was able to participate fully, and he had no idea it even tasted any differently. Best part? I didn’t even have to ask. They knew we didn’t allow sugar and proactively offered us a solution.
Another example is that they also allowed him for a short while to bring in small toys to help with his transitions. Since 6 months old (he’s now over 3 yrs) he has had VERY tough transitions to daycare drop offs almost every single day. When we found that small toys helped transition him through easier the «no outside toys in school» rule was given a slight reprieve to help him work his way through the whole «mommy is leaving me, life is ending as we know it!!!» phase that he could never seem to get out of. He now gives hugs, kisses, and bye byes to Mommy with absolutely no tears or sadness.
They have also gone out of their way to help us with our potty training issues and even tried our unusual method of potty training at school to try to help us get our son over the hump he was at. It didn’t work (lol) but they were more than willing to try which in my opinion says a tremendous amount about the level of care and desire they have for my son to succeed. And my son is learning SO much. I cannot count the number of times my husband and I have looked at each other and said «where in the world did he learn that!», and even had to have a conversation with my son where I had to ask him to repeat what he had just said in English because he kept talking to me in Spanish. I don’t know Spanish. And it isn’t just letters, numbers, and language. They help to teach respect and proper attitudes as well. My son «randomly» started asking if he could be excused from the table when he was done eating because they ask for that respect at school. It’s amazing.
I don’t think I could say enough positives about this school honestly. Cynthia is an absolute God send. Her knowledge of children and of normal/​not normal behavior has helped calm fears and given me a great piece of mind. And her absolute requirement of her employees to live up to her standards allows me to always know that my son will be in great hands even if his normal teacher is out, or when he ages into a new classroom. The consistency of high level care is one that we never have to worry about with such strong leadership. And with her at the helm this is a place that absolutely does not cut corners and does not take your child’s care or individuality lightly.

We love Hatch House. Our son started in the 2’s class and loves his teachers. His lead teacher would tell us personal stories of what he said or did that day. She would go to the public library, and pick out books and music just for her class; she even honored my sons request for Baby Einstein music. He is learning so much about shapes, colors, numbers, spelling and the alphabet in his 3’s class, we feel blessed we have found Hatch House.
Today he came home with a gift from his 2’s teacher she bought just for him after he moved up classes. He was thrilled and so are we.
