Texas Waterscapes

August 5, 2015 and not swimmin’ yet, although we progressed enough that I can envision what it will be like… someday :(

We’ve been as patient as possible with John Curl and Texas Waterscapes, but it’s gone beyond the point of salvation at this point. Our pool was started in November of 2014 and we were contracted for a 12 week completion date. It’s a couple days from June of 2015 and we’re still nowhere near the finish line on our pool. This is just the scheduling issues.
Our pool is also completely different than what was originally designed due to John’s «executive decisions» which are made without consulting the owner of the pool. On top of paying A LOT of money for a pool we didn’t want, the workmanship is horrible.
Decking is cracking, coping is cracking, grout is cracking, it’s hard to find anything that is plumb & square, drainage on the decking is non-​existent, plaster job is poor, etc. To this day, trades are not aware of what the ultimate design of the pool is, so many portions of the job are being done incorrectly. This is in spite of spending countless hours detailing every aspect of the job with John Curl.
John has missed deadline after deadline. And still John’s communication style is — no communication. I’ve had to remove parts of the job and hire them out because John couldn’t handle them, and we’re unbelievably disappointed with the pool.
Save yourself the agony and find a more reputable pool builder. If this is what he does for someone that has referred several others to him for pool builds I’d hate to think what he does for his average customer. Unfortunately, I don’t think this builder will be around much longer.
I’m off to go play general contractor on my pool again, will update once it finally gets done!

We just finished a pool and spa installed by John Curl at Texas Waterscapes. They exceeded every expectation. From the design of the pool… that was different than ANY other design I received from any major Austin pool builder… to finishing early… was the best home remodel experience I have ever had. His team is extremely professional, not to mention fun. I highly recommend!
