This place is CARBCITY and every bite is worth the gain! I love this place :) I would definitely recommend the green onion pancake. It is deliciously fried and the pancakes are thin and crispy. Tastes even better when you eat them hot. Next, the spicy seafood and pork has a variety of everything in it. Noodle dishes are so filling. Their house special chicken is very unique and you definitely taste the house sauce. I believe they marinate it in garlic and vinegar. So perfect: D Why ask your grandma to make you these traditional dishes when you can come here

Pretty good. Noodle soup is big and delicious. Dumplings are pretty good. Dried tofu is a plus.

Very happy with this place. Nice mix of vegan/non vegan dishes. Reasonably priced. Very tasty. Large servings. Had the leek and tofu skin-was actually green onion, not leek, but very good. Light sauce, not too greasy. Will be back.

New Golden City is a testament to what years of great service and a strong gluten game can do for you as a restaurant. With northern Chinese and Korean influences, this spot has been pounding out solid food for years, and has quite the eclectic customer base to show for it. And by pounding… I literally mean pounding, and slicing, and kneading. Like others have said the star of the show here is their green onion pancake, crispy on the outside and with the flaky on the inside, an odd textual combination that surprisingly works well. Their dumplings, noodle dishes, or any iteration of a menu item that showcases their talents with dough is not to be missed. A small knock for the fact that our waitress was not the most kind person in the world, blowing off my mom a couple of times and keeping her eyes on the incoming customers and not on my mom as she was asking her a question. Worthy of a one star knock? Perhaps. Knocking one star off cause my mama said so… no doubt.

I come here many times. It’s always packed when I’m here and I always get the Spicy Seafood Noodle. It’s so yummy when it’s cold outside and you’re craving something hot and soupy. I love the seafood noodle. It’s the right amount of spice and it tastes so good. I like that they’re not stingy with the amount of noodles in the huge bowl. Other places can’t compare. Very aldente. Their soup is really good too!!! Can’t get enough!!! I was drinking a lot of soup while eating the noodles. However, I caution that I got a bit thirsty afterwards, but it’s still good. I ordered the Onion Pancake… It’s a must try here. It’s super good. Almost every table ordered one. It’s big and thin with lots of flavor. It is kinda greasy though but I’m you can indulge once in a while right?! Parking is hectic on weekend lunch or dinner times. I encourage you get there earlier or later.

Heard about this place from a friend so I had to try it out. This restaurant is in the 99 ranch market and along a row of hole I. The wall chinese restaurants. I’ll be honest… I was a bit skeptical but you can tell the place is good when it is filled with a range of people of all ages. My girlfriend and I sat down. Funny thing is we came here to eat XLB but I ordered the Cha Chiang Myun. I am so glad I ordered this entrée. So Nastolgic!!! Remembered me of being a kid my girlfriend ordered a full menu that we couldn’t finish but the flavors are amazing here. I would definitely tell my friends about this place and seriously coming back soon. It’s hard to please me when it comes to food I think because I cook as a hobby so I know how good is suppose to taste but this little store I give 2 thumbs up.

The beef roll is really good here. It is not oversauced(and the sauce, while still sweet, is not overly sweet), the beef is moist, the green onion pancake wrapper has a great thick, chewy texture, and they stuff the inside with extra green onion on top of the cucumber and cilantro, which really improves the taste imho(though if you are a purist YMMV). XLB are average. They were overcooked and the skins were soggy, but at least the meat and soup are not sweet. The flavor profile of the filling is slightly off and too gingery to boot, requiring extra vinegar dousing. Potstickers are on the thicker side, which is nice, but the filling again tastes different from expected. Overall, not amazing, but good enough to be back to try other things, namely the beef noodle soup and the rice cakes(which disappointingly seem to not be Shanghai-style?).

Best dumpling house in rowland heights. Sweet & sour soup, jelly fish & cucumber and cold chicken.

Not super impressed. The green onion pancake was the best. Light and airy. The beef noodle soup was luke warm and noodles were soggy. I thought that the shao long bao was okay. They were good size and skin was not too thick. But they forgot to give us the ginger until later. Beef fried rice was tasty, could taste the guo wei. Do not get the seaweed noodle appetizer… Not good at all, soggy and bland.

Definitely worth a try. Despite the restaurant’s shortcomings in other areas, the food here seems pretty good so far. I readily endorse the #44(House Chicken) and #92(Noodle w/Soy Bean Sauce) as safe bets. Service is friendly but absenteeist and slow(the restaurant could probably benefit from at least one more server during busy hours). The seats are atrociously uncomfortable, and the men’s restroom could do with some more frequent cleaning. Plenty of parking available outside, even on a Friday night.

2.5 stars. Not terrible, but not impressed. Unilocal page says they don’t take reservations, but we were able to call in and make one for CNY Eve as long as it was before 6pm. Broccoli beef– A-OK, the beef was tender and juicy. Pretty saucy. Eggplant in garlic sauce– nothing special, I only ate like 1 or 2 pieces. No meat in this that we detected(there usually is at other places) Chive box– good, crispy, big. Dumplings– meh, these were not that great. Mushu pork– huge! Looked like little burritos. Needed more pork! Hot & sour soup– shrug. Beef roll– good, crispy, beef wasn’t dry like other places, and the scallion pancake had just the right amount of salt. Bill came out to about $ 70. Overall, a somewhat disappointing CNY Eve dinner, but oh well. Likely won’t be back.

My friend and I were craving for some food and we decided to come here for dinner. I actually had some trouble looking for this place but it’s pretty much located in the same parking lot as Class 302 and is located inside the 99 Ranch Supermarket. We ordered: 1. Pig ears 2. Jajangmyun(black bean noodles) 3. Special House chicken The pig ears were delicious. The jajangmyun was decent, although I’ve had better. But the House chicken was really delicious and refreshing with the cucumbers! Overall, everything tasted great. Cash only. Parking is decent. Service is good too.

New Golden City is one of those places that you usually pass by without considering going inside. After all, it is located inside 99 Ranch, barely passing as a stand alone restaurant. However, if by chance you do go inside to try it, you will not be disappointed. Every one of the dishes we had was good quality Chinese food. — GREENONIONPANCAKE($ 3.25): Must get! It’s not the most unique dish, but it is done very well here. Pancakes are crisp while still being chewy, and not overly oily. ~ 4⁄5 — BEEFROLLS($ 6.95): Okay, maybe you can get these instead of the pancake because the beef is rolled in green onion pancake. I really enjoyed these, and they are cut into 8 pieces for convenient sharing. ~ 5⁄5 — HOUSECHICKEN(L, $ 9.95): Great dish with lots of flavor and good sharing potential. ~ 4⁄5 — BEANCURD w/HOT SAUCE($ 7.95): This is basically mapo tofu. One of our friends was craving it, and it is good but nothing spectacular. ~ 3⁄5 Each entrée comes with one rice bowl, so we got 2. This was enough to fill the 4 of us up decently, and for a little less than $ 10 each after tax+tip! Service was as decent as you can expect from Chinese restaurants, but they refilled the tea periodically and didn’t ignore us so nothing to complain about. If you want cheap, delicious, no-frills Chinese food, this is a good place to go! Food: 4, Service: 3, Environment: 4, Price: 5

This place got crowded fast! The service and ambiance are what you expect from your average Chinese restaurant, which was very familiar and comfortable for me, at least. The employees are straightforward, and the food comes out fresh and fast! We got the beef roll, green onion pancake, and the combination fried rice. All were amazing. I am definitely coming back!

Located inside of the 99 ranch plaza building, New Golden City is a pretty decent place to grab cheap Shanghai food. We ordered the XLB steamed dumplings, Beef Noodle soup, and potstickers. The latter two were good, however, the XLBs were just average. While the the meat was good and portion size was good, the skin was pretty weak so it would rip while picking one up(this could also be the case of oversteaming). 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Food was okay, nothing spectacular, BUT I WILLNOTBERETURNINGHERETOEAT. Servers are RUDE. I ordered an appetizer that they ran out of, so I ordered a different appetizer, which was also out. I then asked which appetizers do you have, she snapped back, do you need more time? During the meal, other servers whizzed by us when I attempted to flag them down for anything. REALLY!!! I expect some shitty service at an Asian restaurant, but bitchiness crosses the line.

My boyfriend loves this place. Whenever we come he always orders beef noodle soup, which I don’t frown upon because it’s actually pretty good! I like it because their soup is not oily, like many other places I have tried. I normally order the pork dumplings and onion pancake, and they’re both delicious! & their pancake isn’t shiny and oily either! It’s crisp and perfect! They also serve a lot too! All 3 dishes were $ 20 total! I think the food there is worth the price! Customer service is mediocre. I didn’t find anything wrong with their service, but nothing was great either. It’s a small restaurant located inside 99 ranch so it’s not very recognizable and probably not many people know about it. The times I have been, it was never crowded. It is worth the try!

Service is mediocre. 2-app platter: pig’s ear + bean curd. As expected, it’s lighter on seasoning and flavor is just right. Beef rolI sans cilantro: clearly not enough beef… just 1 more slice in the roll will be perfect. It is crispy and I really like that they use Chinese leek(京蔥), it’s sweeter and lighter than green scallions. :Noodles: I really like their noodles, it’s round and a bit thicker, with a firm texture. Spicy seafood noodle soup: best I’ve had since my first jjampbong in SD(the restaurant now closed). Beef soup noodle: they use beef brisket, very tender. Noodles with seafood egg flower soup: the soup is thickened so it’s pretty hot and the noodles continue to sort of cook in the soup. The flavor is mild and plenty of seafood. Steamed seafood dumplings(comes in 8): it’s all right. the filling isn’t as full as I wish for it to be. I will be coming back for noodles and more!

Beef roll, green onion pancake, vegetable dumplings … The list can go on! I love this place. My favorite reliable Asian restaurant where I can get great service, delicious food and I can pay with a credit card. It really doesn’t beat that! Basically, anything you order on this menu you are golden. Jellyfish, house chicken, green onion pancake, steamed vegetable dumplings, stir fried pork with bean curd, beef noodle soup, beef rolls are some of my top favorites. I seriously love this place; I already can’t wait to go back this weekend!
