The Wedding Academy

I am one of the Wedding Academy graduate and I must say I have learnt a lot about not only weddings but about the wedding industry as a whole. Sherrien is very resourceful and informational teacher. You will walk out with knowing a handful of wedding vendors, wedding venues and most of all an experience that you didn’t have. You will even get an opportunity to interview real brides and design their weddings. If you are new to the business or thinking of transitioning to a career in wedding and you don’t know where to start, I say, start with The Wedding Academy.

One of the most attractive features of this course is the array of practical knowledge of the industry that Sherrien Shui brings with her. The informational resources available to class participants is grounded in her extensive experience with clients and network of professional contacts. A second advantage of her course is that students have ample opportunity to apply concepts taught in class. For example, participants have the opportunity to create a design board, attend venue tours, interview actual couples, make presentations to actual couples, meet with vendors to obtain different perspectives on best practices, and even assist in actual weddings. Sherrien, herself, provides career consultation advice for students to help them match their talents to roles within the event planning profession. Finally, the course is a great way to meet new people and to form bonds of friendship. I’ve been in the wedding industry, doing florals for over 7 yrs, coordinating now for 3 yrs, background in design and advertising. She has taught me how to use my skills to provide our couples w an amazing experience upon first meeting. She has influenced how our business structure and procedures are now handled. I took a Wedding planning class at other school before and don’t feel I know this industry well enough to be on my own so I took this AAWPA’s class again. This class not just giving you paper to read. It give you an actual experience to be a shadow with someone to know how a wedding run from beginning to end. What a wedding planner really do behind the scene. Also let you know how to searching vendors and filter it. Now I am running my own business and I am glad I took this class.
