I tried yummy hero at OC night market on Saturday 6⁄18. I ordered the BBQ squid. The girl taking my order said I could make it a combo and get a tea for just $ 1 more so I went with the upgrade. Great decision! The tea was awesome and refreshing. The set up at OC night market was cool because we got to watch the chef BBQ the whole squid before it was chopped up! He basted it multiple times with the sauce that they use. The squid it’s self was GREAT. So tender and not overly chewy. My boyfriend and I were both definitely impressed! We will definitely be making a point of visiting this OC night market vendor at their store location.

Food: the steak they didn’t even asked how I wanted it… it came out very raw… less than medium rare. …and the steak not when warm. Wth… The pork chops rice failed miserably. I made better pork chop than this place. The black tea tasted like sugar… Why so much sugar. Pricing: cheap. …The only good thing about this place Restroom: if you can. Please avoid going there Menu: lots of selection… Service:failed.. They were all in their phone.. Also when she asked if I’m ready to order. I started to tell her. .yet she walked away.. Can’t speak English. I have to request for water twice… Tips: cash only.

Well, I eat a lot at this restaurant. Never write a review. I really love their style of Taiwanese food. They used to be busy at dinner time. I don’t know if Yummy hero is still busy at dinner or weekend now. I was at there around 6:00 — 6:30 pm. I am only customer there. I am thinking why??? I find out their waitress service is really bad. 3 or 4 waitress sit at corner table and play cell phone. Please it is business hour and you just sit and play your smart phone? Not even friendly to ask me if I need more service like, do I need water? How is food so far? All employee sit at corner table and enjoy their employee activities and time. That is really sucks. Food quality is 5 star Environment is 4 star Cleanness is 4 star Waitress attitude is 0 star(if I can leave negative star or point, yummy hero deserve it) Beautiful waitress is not mean professional waitress. I learn this from yummy hero. Don’t ever come to this place again

Been here several times, and since I’m coming back once a while, that’s a 4-star in my book. This place is generally pretty authentic Taiwanese food, but they are more known for sizzling plates. I’ve tried chicken, beef, and pork sizzling plates and liked the chicken best, most tender, so I’ve had more chicken sizzling plates than other dishes. I always get the mix sauce; mushroom and black pepper together is pretty good. As everyone mentioned, the sizzling plate comes with a simple corn soup and traditional Taiwanese iced tea, which is pretty good. Other than sizzling plates, we tried beef noodle soup, which was good. We also tried sesame oil chicken noodle, but it wasn’t too good. We had mined pork rice, which was OK(could be a little more juicer). So ordering chicken sizzling plate can’t go wrong. And their prices arent bad. $ 6.95 for beef noodle soup. Now to service. I would say its«OK». I recall our very first time there couple years ago, they didn’t have a metal fork available, said it was being washed. They gave me plastic fork, till almost the end they gave me a metal fork… I was like, what??? But since that 1st trip, of course I went back many times, and their service has been OK. For one, nearly all waitresses are young girls, good to look at, but generally don’t have a friendly smile. And at times, I don’t know if they are just young, or new, they kinda don’t know what to do. So next time, I’ll probably stick with chicken sizzling plate. I would recommend you give it a try.

had this place bookmarked for so long BUT with so many decent Taiwanese restaurants in the area, this one is my least favorite Fried chicken steak rice, the worst I ever had. Not only its dry, the flavor is also missing. Usually Taiwanese restaurants rarely mess up with fried dishes, I mean, Taiwanese are specialized in fried stuff in general. two of my friends who had it before said she should had stopped me from ordering it. Sausage rice, actually the only decent dish of the day. The bento display with little of everything and is very filling. Sausage is the more meaty kind and every side dish is delicious. Dry cold noodle, even though we had a feeling it couldn’t be too good. The noodle is hard and the dressing just not exact right. It lacks the strong peanut sauce flavor. Overall it’s just one dull plate with lot of carb loaded. Pork blood cake, mushy and too much sauce on it. I feel like I can make it better by cooking at home and sprinkle peanut butter powder and put some shredded cilantro. Sizzling steak, that everyone seem to rave about. It does come w a giant piece of meat so you might feel like it really worth the money. However, meat is tender but it does not mean it was cooked medium. Sauce is also weak to my like. I always think the most simplest dish is the way to tell if the restaurant do it right, Sadly, they can’t get it right. .

Having a late lunch. Order the sizzling pork steak with black pepper, got the beef steak by mistake. The waitress was nice enough to offer to charge the pork chop price. We will see if they remember. Took off $ 1.90 off the bill. So that is about correct. Not the happiest person right now though. Since I don’t actually like beef so much. Oh well, just gotta make sure to double check they get the correct order next time I guess. So my mother got the grill salmon lunch box combo thing and she wasn’t impressed. It didn’t taste bad, just not great. Only seasoned with salt. But we asked for extra black pepper sauce. So that was nice. Overall rating, 3.5 stars I think.

This is your basic, no-frills Taiwanese café. The food is pretty straightforward — nothing exceptional, but traditional and authentic in flavor. The braised chicken leg meal is pretty good because the chicken is well-marinated, tender and just a tad sweet. It’s served in a bento box with broccoli, corn, and rice with minced pork. I’ve also tried their thin stir fried noodles — a mixture of fatty pork, green onions, and bean sprouts. The flavor is overly subdued, although I like the thin texture of the noodles because it makes you feel like you’re eating light. Their squid tempura is delicious — it’s thinly sliced, lightly fried, and has good flavor. I’m not sure if I would come here regularly, but I’ll keep this as a potential fast food option for this area.

Food was okay, service was horrible. One of the guy server was on his phone texting while he was dropping off our food to the table, didn’t even hear us calling him and brought the wrong item and tried to argue that it was what we ordered. We pointed the item with our finger on the menu. So how you gonna try to argue back saying that’s the one we ordered? Lol. Also one of the girl servers BF was supposedly visiting her at work or something, and they were full on PDA in the corner of the restaurant. Seriously annoyed by the workers. This is a restaurant not your bedroom –__– dafuq.

This is the last time… no improvement at all. Sesame oil chicken soup — chicken is cold, soup is too salty. Oyster Pancake — oysters are rotten. Rice with Minced pork and noodle are so «so so.» Waste our quota…

Parking: free lot! The best part of suburbia. This is pretty good Taiwanese comfort food! At fairly reasonable prices too. The oyster pancake was much better than a lot of other Taiwanese eateries I’ve been to. The sizzling steak meal was very tender and a very good portion. The beef noodle soup was just ok, I wouldn’t recommend it. It leans too heavily on being hot/spicy and not enough on depth of flavor. Plus the meat is just not tender and chewy. The stinky tofu was not bad, but not the best.

From the second we walked in the door I felt as if I was back in taiwan. From the Taiwan bear mascot to the menu… This place is pretty legit。Food is pretty darn cheap here. One can get a full plate lunch for $ 7. Chou dou fu(fried) is the best i’ve had in the US. Yes. you can get better in Taiwain but we’re not in Taiwan. They do a great job with this one. Oyster omelet– Also one of the best i’ve had outside of Taiwan. San Bei Ji– Just meh. Not bad but i’ve had better. Minus 1* for this. Overall a fine, cheap lunch spot if you want Taiwanese food.

An important thing to remember is that this place is cheap, so don’t expect the food or service to be extraordinary. For what it was worth, I left with a full stomach, and that’s all that really matters. The food — beef steak, fish cakes, chicken and dry noodle, ground beef with rice — were okay with the fish cakes coming out as my favorite dish. Other than that, I don’t really have anything to say about this place. It was just a regular restaurant that’s good for a quick hunger fix. My guy friend and I just so happened to be in the area and decided last minute to eat here. Nothing special, just another asian joint that did the job of curing hunger.

I just finished my meal — steak sizzling plate and popcorn chicken. I like both of those things… But not from here. The place is small and cozy. There’s a TV and some loud wanna be trendy music playing. I could do without the music but meh, it helps to cover up everyone’s loud talking. The sizzling steak came out nice and hot. So to find that it was raw is mind boggling. The popcorn chicken is nice big pieces. It’s also very soft — and also very RAW! Not to mention neither dish had any flavor whatsoever. I’ll stick with Tea Station or Ten Ren for my popcorn chicken. And Four Seasons steak plate has never let me down. I have yet to try Cowboy Café… Maybe after I’ve gotten over the disappointment from here I’ll give them a try.

I was looking on Unilocal for new places to try and I came across this Yummy Hero spot. I thought the name was cute and the pictures really looked good. So I wanted to check this spot out. Came here right when they open at 11:00AM and was one of the first people here. Seating was plenty and service was quick since there wasn’t anyone else. They have lunch specials which are from Monday till Friday until 4:00PM but each day is different. So today during Thursday they had Taiwanese sausage. It comes with a gang load of food. Soup, a small black tea drink that is already pre-made with sugar, three different veggie sides, rice and the the sausage. For being only $ 7.49 I think this is a good deal! I ordered not from the lunch menu but a chicken rice bowl which I believe was around $ 5.00. It came with a boiled egg and a pickled thing with the shredded chicken with some maybe soy sauce flavoring on it. The portion size for this was super huge. I had to take more than half of it to go and will probably be eating that portion for dinner. Overall this place is cute inside and the food is pretty tasty with a lot of flavor. I like it and it is reasonable prices. Sometimes this parking lot though does get really full and packed so I would suggest going here around 11:00AM to beat the parking situation and the crowd of people that might show up later.

Taiwanese steak for cheap. $ 9.99 chicken steak with mix sauce $ 11.99 sizzling steak with mix sauce Sauce choices are optional. Mix sauce=black pepper sauce and mushroom sauce The meal comes with free corn soup and black tea. They were both good. Black tea tasted like Thai tea. The meat dish comes with spaghetti noodles. My chicken was 2 big pieces, more than enough. Also came with fried egg. Yum. Everything was good.

Decent Taiwanese food for cheap but nothing amazing LUNCHSPECIALS mon-fri til 4pm for $ 7.49 includes your choice of a meat, side, soup, and drink although it seems like the sizzling plates also come with a drink & soup —lunch special: the fried pork chop was good at first but I’ve had better, the tray came with bean sprouts, minced pork & pickled veggies over rice, stewed beef & veggies, and corn(none of the sides were anything special). The satay soup was okay. I liked the green tea much more than my mom’s over-sweet vintage tea —sizzling fish: served over spaghetti noodles, bland NOTE: CASHONLY

Wow talk about bad service. My friend ordered his dish which came with chicken. The chicken took forever to come out. We all got our dishes except my friend. He got the noodles for his dish, but not the chicken that came with it. When did it come out? Once everyone finished their meal. Seriously?! Another thing I have to say is refilling water. Okay I get it, we’re in a drought. But when I asked for a refill on water, I get 1⁄3 of my cup refilled. DOTDOTDOT. This place. Gahhhhhh!

When you have a craving for sizzling steak, you must definitely answer that craving. As of late my friends have said four season steak has kind of went a little downhill and cowboy café is a couple dollars more. So we came to yummy hero. To be honest I was a little hangry on the day we came so I was not very nice… but their service didn’t even stutter and they handled the hangry monsters pretty well. They were accommodating and polite — just like people and service in Taipei. On to the food. I got the sizzling steak with mushroom sauce and it was tender as hell. The flavoring was excellent and the temperature was perfect. I also got to try the black pepper sauce one as well and I actually preferred the black pepper. The entrees come with black tea and it isn’t too sweet. Good food, good service. Definitely brings on waves on Taiwan nostalgia !! They also have a TV that is tuned into sports.

Not worth it looking for parking in this lot and coming here. It has a cute atmosphere reminiscent of the night markets with cooking boy playing in the background, but it does not make up for the food. Service was very nice, however and everything came out fairly quickly. I had the Hot Star Fried Chicken meal, which if you’ve had the real thing, it would ruin you. This chicken steak was dry and really battered. The sides were ok– from the radishes to the Napa cabbage to the broccoli. Lu rou fan /meat rice came with some pickled mustard greens and was ok. Price-wise it is worth it if you get the meals, but smaller rice and noodle bowls($ 4.95−5.95) is not worth it. Add $ 1 more and you’ll get a full meal like I had. Eh not too memorable, though everything was cheap(Milk Tea here is $ 2.50 and Unilocal check-in gets a drink upgrade!).
