I’ve never reviewed a city before but Rowlett deserves it. If you’re looking for a place to live, consider Rowlett. We’re a not very small suburb that no one’s seemed to have heard of. We may not be as big as Plano, but our 50,000+ people are nothing to scoff at. The smaller population allows for more of a small town feel. Stop in a few times at Cosa Nostra and soon the owners will know your name. The people throughout the city’s businesses are friendly and helpful, as a whole. The crime rate is substantially lower for both property and violent crimes than that of DFW, Texas, and USA, an impressive feat. The home prices are more than reasonable and the availability of houses is great. The schools are wonderful, and the parks are great, including a public water park. A few of the parks have roller hockey rinks in them, and you can expect to see happy kids playing in the parks every day. It’s a short drive to other areas of the metroplex with a quick hop onto I-30 or the Bush Turnpike, or even to the DART which will soon go to downtown Rowlett. Being surrounded by water means the neighborhoods are isolated. You don’t just happen upon a Rowlett neighborhood. Ours is very quiet, enough so that kids can play right in the street. No traffic whatsoever. There is a lot of new expansion planned with the completion of the Bush Turnpike. Soon you’ll see Rowlett on the map for destinations and great places to live and you’ll wish you’d gotten in beforehand ;)
