Good and cheap food and milkshakes, if the workers actually get it right. Most of the workers here are rude and stupid. Be prepared to wait for your order.

Ripoff, I’m updating my review because cookout is a huge ripoff. Friend ordered a chili dog and gave her a bun with chili, apparently the actual hot dog is extra. What kind of logic is that? The food still remains decent but the customer service is ridiculous, apparently the cashier prefers talking to friends then actually working.

Food is great, wish they offered some gluten free options though. Service is usually fast and people working there are pleasant. It’s rare that there is a mess up or item left out, which is common for drive thrus. It would be nice if they had tables outside to eat at, but there is no space for it anyway. Burgers taste like real beef hot off a grill, and the chicken is real one piece breasts that aren’t processed goo. Their BBQ pulled pork is awesome, so is their coleslaw. Their shakes are amazing, but I think it’s more like ice cream in a cup than a shake. It’s so thick your straws collapse, spoons are definitely needed until it melts some.

I’ve eaten here twice and it’s always been pretty good. The burgers and fries are tasty and they have decent hush puppies. The milkshakes are fantastic. I’m docking a star mostly because of how overwhelmingly big the menu is — especially for a drive-thru place. I think the whole Cook-Out Experience could be improved if they took a page from the west coast’s In-n-Out, chopping the menu down to a more manageable size. That feeling of indecision at the drive-thru when you’re faced with that massive menu is akin to being on Jeopardy while the music is coming to a close.

Great burgers, hot dogs, combos and the best milkshakes in Roxboro. The food is cheap and open late. If you want a burger at 1am you go here!
