Service is extremely slow and rude. Went here on a Sunday morning for breakfast, there was only one table when we got there and it took 25 minutes to make eggs. It started getting crowded when we finished and I asked the waitress for the check. I had to ask her several times, and each time she would just walk around and take more orders and serve drinks, coffee, and food to others. Terribly rude to make your customer wait over 20 minutes for a check! I finally walked up to the cashier myself and took my own check and still waited 10 minutes before she came to take my money. I was really about to walk out without paying. Seriously 30 minutes to give me my check? Unacceptable, they need a new server!

Bad service! They also charge for refills of iced tea. This would not have been as much of an issue if I had been told I was getting charged for refills and my first glass was only ¾ full. At the end I just got my bill with $ 10 of iced tea on it and thought that was a bit nutz. When I asked about it the girl made a face at me like I should have known. In all honesty, who does not even give one free refill? Not going back!

This place deserves negative stars. I came here with my boyfriend. We walked in here at 2:49pm on a Saturday. The store hours are until 3pm. We were visiting the town for a wedding. Within two seconds of walking in to get something PRE-MADETOGO, the manager/hostess said«guys we are closed.» We kindly asked if we could please get something to go. Keep in mind, there was food cased up and ready to buy. Keep in mind, their hours are until 3pm, and it was 2:49pm. She still said no. We asked please. She said no again, rudely. We actually considered she might be joking given how mean her tone was – it could not be real. She was not joking. Dumbfounded, we asked where else to go. She told us we had to go to the next town over, again rudely. We left. A customer followed us out to tell us where else to go, clearly recognizing how rude and unprofessional the staff had been. ITWASNOTEVEN3PMANDWEWEREONLYGETTINGFOODTOGO. Avoid at all costs. For a cute town, this was a very mean and unwelcoming place. You think they would be kind to the out of towners who give them business. Avoid avoid avoid. U.S.

A bit disappointed but lots of redeemable qualities. Great menu, reasonably priced, good service. Coffee wasn’t great and the maple syrup is awful. I think they water down the maple syrup which is ruins the good French toast i had.

With the closure of the excellent East Branch Café in Roxbury, I have now visited Cassie’s regularly for breakfast. They are always slow to deliver food no matter how busy they are, and their food is mediocre at best. A friend of mine today had the blueberry pancakes, and they were mealy and without flavor. Also, some of us had a golf tee time today, and they not only took 45 minutes to deliver a simple order for 3 people, but when I asked for a little speed since we had that tee time, the waitress not only did not apologize for the long wait, or the fact they they were clearly doing takeout orders while people in restaurant were waiting a long time, she treated me like I was being rude and out of line. I will not be going again ever, and since I have a house in this area and know other places, would recommend Flour Patch in Margaretville or the Catskill Breakfast place in Arkville. Both are excellent, friendly and delicious.

After staying at The Roxbury Motel, my group of six girls came here for brunch. We loved being able to walk right down the street. Cassie’s had a great menu of brunch food and everyone loved their meals. Our waitress was also very sweet! I highly recommend Cassie’s for brunch!

Clean, pleasant atmosphere. Basic food, that is well prepared. Not sure why people have mentioned poor unappealing service, my wife and I have always been well taken care of.

We were attending a wedding in Roxbury last weekend(Sept. 7, 2013)…we were a group of about 150. At least 35 of us had breakfast at Cassie’s. The menu had great selections and was enjoyed by all. It was like having breakfast in a neighbor’s kitchen. The service was friendly and fast. Later in the day, we made a massive order for lunch for the bridal party. Our order was filled quickly, professionally and with love. We highly recommend Cassie’s Café to crowds, families and to all! In addition to the delicious breakfast and lunch selections, try the cake and muffins… out-of-this-world incredible!!! We will be back!!!

Bob the owner doesn’t really like kids and he’d probably be the first one to tell you so. You’ll have a decent meal here as long as you leave the leave the little ones at home.

Too funny, the owner was an asshole to me too! I laugh as I read the reviews, so with this being said, it is walking distance of the Roxbury Hotel. So if you do not feel like driving you have no other choice. The food is average, the place is really cute, the coffee is insipid. I wonder who licked the red off of his candy.

I was in the Catskills recently with my fiancé and his family to plan our wedding, and Cassie’s was recommended to us for lunch. And I’m so glad it was, because we loved everything from the ambiance to the food. Very cute interior, everyone was very friendly and the service was fast. We all got sandwiches, and everyone was raving. Honestly, one of the best roast beef sandwiches I’ve ever had. So much flavor, and not dry at all. Yum. And then we each ordered pie to share for dessert, and omg… amazing. I’d eat a piece of banana cream pie from Cassie’s every day for lunch if I thought it wouldn’t kill me. Thanks so much for a great place to grab lunch as a family, and for food so good we’re still emailing about it! We’ll def be back next time we’re in the area.

This café is OK for a local place. Since my boyfriend and I were staying at the Roxbury Motel, we came to eat here because it’s down the block from our room. When you first walk in, it looks really American and country. The walls and floor are all repurposed hardwood and there is a bit of warm red paint above the chair rail. It gives it a cozy feel. There are communal tables and some couches. The front of the restaurant is more of a café, while the back is more for dining. They have bathrooms. The menu is really small and there are not too many options. I finally settled with an egg wrap. It was brought to me, cold, with a bag of potato chips. Not what I was expecting. My boyfriend had a pulled pork sandwich and he didn’t complain. I would only return here because it is the only place to eat within walking distance of our room. The waitresses look like they hate their lives and jobs.

Sorry, but not a fan. You expect super friendly smalltown service and don’t get it. The simple food is not executed that well either… my burger was quite tasteless and my wife did not care for her tuna salad.

I visited Roxbury last weekend with a group of friends for a wedding and we rented a house around the corner from Cassie’s. With the hopes of Cassie’s being a super cute, friendly, local establishment, we rolled in with a small group anticipating yummy food! Instead we got a grumpy staff, sub par food, and incredibly slow service. In the past, I worked as a server for many years, so i generally try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But the staff and owner’s behavior were unforgivable. They didn’t offer us any water, and when we finally asked we had to get up and get it ourselves… we practically had to beg for a refill on coffee and the food took an hour to come out.(simple food like pancakes and egg sandwiches). They forgot to bring us one item we ordered and the Owner huffed and shrugged us off and said«talk to your waitress» when we asked him to adjust the bill. Between the eye rolls from our waitress and audible groans from the owner, i was beginning to lose my appetite! This is the first time i have Unilocaled about ANYTHING, so you can imagine i don’t just go out of my way to bad mouth an establishment for«kicks.» When you decide to open an establishment in a frequented vacation hot spot for travelers looking to escape the frustrations of the city, you should expect to get a seasonal rush of customers in the summer. I left there with a knot in my stomach similar to the knot i feel anytime i have to fight my way through times square during rush hour and some homeless guy decides to flash his wiener. Don’t be that homeless guy, Cassie’s… SHAPEUP!

I have all sympathies for establishments that are less than prepared for large groups, and I can forgive a missed order or some lag in the time it takes a small kitchen to put together a large list of meals — it happens, and I think most customers understand. However, I most definitely lack sympathy for establishments that deal with such situtations with the kind of flustered rudeness that I experienced this weekend. I witnessed a person being shouted at by the staff for holding a door open for a young lady(which I’d always assumed to be good manners). I witnessed a father being yelled at to «sit down» while trying to calm a fussy infant(which I’d always assumed would be a worse outcome for adjoining tables than a quiet infant.) And, I witnessed rudeness in the face of service delays where a kind understanding would have allayed the sheepish impatience being exhibited by hungry customers. This was not a reaction to uppity behavior by a gang of entitled cityfolk expecting a four-star dining experience — this was a seemingly willful attempt to alienate customers from what seemed at first look like an adorable hometown diner. If Cassie’s Café’s major problem is all the people clogging up the space hoping to get a nice meal, driving customers away should prove to be an effective solution. I suggest that the staff at Cassie’s take the time to review the basic tenets of customer service.

I also experienced absolutely unforgivable service/attitude from staff and a man that appeared to be the owner. Why own a restaurant if you hate serving people? The tall older man that appeared to be the owner was visibly angry and extremely aggressive to us and other customers in the restaurant. It was busy and the service was so slow our friend asked for her breakfast burrito to go, about 45 min later, the man(owner?) stood at the counter — about 10 feet away — looked in our direction and mumbled something while holding up a paper sack. We all turned and politely said, «What?» He then made these extreme exasperated gestures, mumbled something aggressively, and then literally SLAMMED the paper sack down on the counter and walked away in a huff. We had to wait for a different staff member to appear so we could ask her if that was my friend’s food. I am not exaggerating here, this actually happened. We also observed the angry man seating a father and son. He gruffly pointed at some seats and aggressively said, «You sit there.» And then he slammed two menus down on the table. We did absolutely nothing to provoke this man’s rage or the rudeness of the first server. Seriously, we are nice, easy going people. The people that run this place are the WORST and should seriously consider careers that don’t involve customer service.
