Old General Store Steak House & Saloon

This restaurant is one of those places you really want to like but they just fall short. They’re only open on select Fridays starting at 6pm. We recently moved into Roy and were really excited to try it. We arrived at 6:30 one Friday and they were sold out of the steak. The food we did get was pretty good but not magical. The service however, was very slow. We waited at the door for about 5 minutes before another customer told us we just seat ourselves. After we found a booth it took another 10 minutes for someone to come help us. The rest of the meal came in a reasonable pace but, requests for salad dressings, drink refills and straws were just ignored. The bar area was kinda busy but the restaurant only had a few other customers. We were pretty disappointed overall.

Very friendly staff. My wife and I have visited twice and both times have been very nice. They are only open every other Friday so make sure you check online to see if thy are open. Steaks are seasoned well and pretty decent cuts. I wouldn’t say it’s a kids place as they open at 6pm for dinner and have a live (usually country) band playing shortly after that.
They did make a mistake on my wife’s steak as far as the done ness is concerned but quickly corrected it without any issue. This really is a staple in the community and a diamond in the rough so to speak. I will continue to come as long as they remain open.
