Ruined my day! I went for a retro hairstyle for a special event that I was a part of and being featured in and I brought some photo references to show the stylist, most were nice curled styles one was of victory rolls. I said I was leaning more towards the soft curls but the stylist pushed for the victory rolls. I relented and said that I didn’t want anything too crazy since this was kind of a formal event and big night for me and she said she understood. I was exhausted and fell asleep in the chair and when I woke up I was shocked. She put HUGE victory rolls on top of my head, like the size of my entire face. I didn’t know what to do and I asked if there was anyway to tone it down because they were WAY too big, almost cartoonish and I’m a small gal so it did not look good on me. She said she was too far in and there was nothing she could do.(My hair was tall enough that when I got in my car it was squished against the ceiling). When I got home and my mom saw me her first response was shock and I heard her say under her breath«oh no!» I lost it. I cried for an hour straight and was considering skipping my big night. My mom called the salon and said how upset I was and how this was not what I wanted and the stylist pretty much said«Too bad, there’s nothing I can do». Thankfully a friend of mine is a hairstylist and I sent her a photo and how to video of what I wanted originally and she got a co-worker to help fix it for me and I made it to my show.(Her and her coworkers response was«Holy shit what did she do to you? That’s horrible»). So to summarize, the stylist did what she wanted and not what I wanted and refused to fix it or take responsibility. I’ve never had such a horrible hair experience.

4.5 stars I came here to see Laura Rose. She is an independent colorist and stylist, and operates out of this studio. The studio itself is cute and chic. Girly, but with a bold and vintage design, men wouldn’t feel uncomfortable here either. I like the fact that the space isn’t huge. There are about 5 work stations, and when I was there, only 2 other stylists, in addition to Laura were there. Laura is great. She is sweet, approachable, knowledgeable, and has great spunk. I love her attitude and energy, and her experience shows through her work. I came for a simple haircut and color, and she did a fabulous job. I had been needing one for quite some time, and she gave me a great length without making it too short. The color job was subtle, but fresh. I love it, and the maintenance was super easy and low key; just how I like it. :) She spent a good 3 hours on me, and most of it was because we were just chit chatting about life, and our mutual friends. Note: If you want to book an appointment with her, look her up on Schedulicity, and type in Laura Rose @ Bleach Studio. I’d highly recommend her for cut, and color, for both men and women. Final cost ended up being $ 100, and it was worth every penny. :)

To «Brooklyn S.” — I was there the day you had your appointment. Remember the woman with the vibrant multicolored rainbow hair? Do you recall the extensive conversation we had about extensions? How you were telling me about the numerous bad haircuts and highlights you had received at other places — and how happy you were with Nicole? I recall them. I especially recall your visit as Nicole asked me to be patient with the delays. Because you were new, and had some bad experiences at other salons and she wanted to make sure your hair turned out just right. You appeared to be quite happy when she was done. You commented how she ‘fixed the brassiness» and — personally — I thought your hair looked wonderful. The cut framed your face very nicely, Nicole managed to give you a good deal of volume, and the color really was lovely. You did not display any displeasure with the finished product while you were at the salon that day. I have been a client of Nicole’s for over 4 years — and I have never seen her give anyone a ‘bad’ haircut. I have seen clients want a color, or cut adjusted — and seen her take care of that immediately. I have never seen her dismiss someone’s concerns or complaints. About my own experiences at Bleach — I love this salon. Enough that I drive from Holly(54 miles one way) to keep having my hair done here. My hair is very complicated, so I spend a serious amount of time at Bleach every month. My hair is waist length, I have extensions for additional color and volume, all of my hair is dyed, and by dyed I mean orange/pink in the front, purple/pink the top back, green/blue on the right and bright pinks/reds on the left. Nicole manages to keep my hair wonderfully healthy even with the amount of bleaching required to maintain these vibrant colors, and the extensions are not damaging at all. Nicole has been wonderfully patient with even challenging cases I have sent her way. To anyone reading this — I would encourage you to try out Bleach and Nicole. I am sure you will find that she is indeed one of the best — and she has the awards to prove it.

So there are a few hairs on my head that are not jumping ship. And occasionally I need to tone down the Italian Elvis pomp. It tends out of control. So where do I go to get my remaining hairs trimmed and my sideburns shaped, Bleach in Royal Oak. I’ve been to more salons than I can shake a male gay hairdresser at. Not that I go around shaking hairdresser. It’s just not easy finding a place you feel comfortable at and a stylist you like and trust. So when I had my hair cut by Nicole at Bleach I was surprised. Many salons around Royal Oak are all about the glitz and the high style surroundings. I say take the pompous Bravo channel board out of your butt and do what you are there to do. There is no emphasis on the person that really matters, the customer. I don’t need a hot towel. I need a hair cut by someone that knows what they are doing and are not just there to take your money. Don’t take this wrong, Bleach is not Supercuts. It’s small but well decorated and designed. It’s kind of pink French whore meets art studio. They are all very talkative to say the least. Everyone is very friendly. Nicole was very attentive. Even as I was paying she was still making sure the cut was to her standards. She has been a stylist for many years. And she has experience with everything from color to extensions. She was voted stylist of the year from one of the local art rags. And, I’ve see her work in many of the local fashion shows around town. Would you believe I was there for beer and chicks? Anyway, Bleach is on main street two blocks south of 11 mile road in Royal Oak. It’s hard to see. You will pass it right by it. Oh and for those guys that feel they can’t go to a salon to get their hair cut, grow up. For the rest of you, go to Bleach in Royal Oak and ask for Nicole.
