Smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke, weeeeee!!! I definitely enjoy the heck out of this hookah lounge. No it is not the most glamorous hookah joint but the price point and the cool factor is all there. All I need is a table friends to shoot the breeze with and a hookah to share. No they do not have a liquor license so don’t expect booze with your smoke. Oh, they do have a jukebox that has that app, so you can queue your music to play if you like. I observed people bringing their computers in a booth just hanging out. The free Wi-Fi does come in handy for those times that you might want to work on homework, or maybe a little gaming, or even browsing the same Facebook post for hours and hours and hours. Rent a hookah, and buy one head at a time, then let the hours tick away. It’s by far one of my favorite places here in Royal Oak. No gimmicks, just pure fun with people you love to talk to. Plus it’s a great spot to sober up before driving back down to wherever you may be living. I definitely enjoy coming here and will come back again whenever im around the area. Thank you so much hookah joe, I’ll see you again next time. Follow me on Instagram and snapchat: rodtorres3

I used to be a frequent visitor, because the location is fantastic, and their prices are great. While the hookah is average compared to other rivaling hookah lounges, their prices are very reasonable. I used to visit this establishment frequently; however I hadn’t visited in a while due to my hectic schedule. I started visiting there again a few months ago, and it really went downhill. The ambiance has always been average(seating and décor aren’t the best, but it never bothered me before). While they spruced the place up a bit, the crowd has gotten out of hand. I have witnessed several fights there by younger patrons after visiting there on Saturday nights. It’s so bad that they have a bouncer there, and I’m convinced they need to beef up security even more. If you’re young(18 – 20) and rowdy, then this is the place for you. If you’re 21+ and are looking for a cool place to hang out with friends, I’d go elsewhere.

Good people and service but really run down place. They need better seating and the sofas where hard and old. Pricing is cheap but over all to crowded. Opened until 4am which is awesome but the place gets boring fast.

Stepped out last night with my best friend to check this place out. In short they have good prices and nicely put together hookahs. Strong and Long… twss ;-) As far as cleanliness goes there is always room for improvement at any hookah establishment. The service was friendly and to me that is more important than the chipping wall paint. Try the Big Booty Bi***. It’s got fruit substituted for the ceramic bowl :-)

The previous person whose review seems to have been deleted is right. The floors are dirty and the paint job is tacky but Hookah Joe’s is a very nice place. The atmosphere is primary scene, artsy, college kids although annoying high school kids who(yey now im 18 and can smoke) have started invading the area. There are a lot of people who are regulars and you will start to notice once you started to come several times. They have a nice selection of drinks(Pepsi, Monster, Mountain Dew, Arizona tea, ect.) different regular hookah flavors for $ 10 premium for $ 13 and ultra flavors for $ 15. Refills are $ 5 for a hookah. Each hookah comes with two coals and will last 4 people about 2 hours. Fairly cheap and great for group fun. With food so close down the street(Leo’s Coney Island, Comet Burger, Thai restaurants, Sushi, Jimmy John’s) its a great place to go after dinner or before dinner and then walk to get food. The atmosphere you get is very relaxed, chill, and welcome when you come here. The upstairs is fairly crowded and packed and Thursday, and Friday nights are most busy. During the summer it is nice because the front windows are open and let in the warm summer air. Recommendations for the place would be a new paint job, redo the bathrooms, and maybe sell some common cigarettes behind the counter. Other than that Hookah Joe’s is the place to be.

The previous reviewer is dead on. It it a little trashy and unkept because it is throughout the floors of an old house. It is about the cheap hookah here, not about the looks and atmosphere.
