Spend the extra time and gas and go to the Troy location. I love Pei Wei, and live about 2 blocks east of this one, but we choose to haul it to Troy if we want it. Since opening, this Woodward location has very poor quality and service. 9 times out of 10, they forget something on your order, or get it wrong entirely. The chicken has been fatty and rubbery lately, and the sauces don’t taste consistently the same. Last time, I got the wrong sauce, paid for extra veggies and was only given 5 extra pea pods, and our crab won tons were totally burned. If you are regulars like my family, the difference between locations is so obvious. Save your $$!

I’m sure the food is fine, but the service is so bad I wish I could give it ZERO stars. I called in an order at 7:10pm and waited on hold for 3+ minutes before I could actually place my order. I was told it would be ready at 7:40. It is now 8pm and I am still waiting for my food. There is one woman working the register and the phone. The other woman who is supposed to be bagging the orders keeps disappearing and leaving food sitting on the counter without lids and not under heat lamps. They don’t have nearly enough staff on hand tonight and multiple people are asking for refunds. We also just found out that our food had been ready for 20min and no one called out our name for us to take it even though we have been here since 7:25.

Talk about ruining a good restaurant. This place was great when they first opened up in fact, one of my fav’s but after that they went downhill fast. The cleanliness and food quality has suffered terribly. It’s still okay for a quick meal but if you order carry-out, check your order. They have screwed mine up a few times. I hear that Panda Café is opening soon…

Food actually isn’t bad, its more of a fast food restaurant then a traditional one, you have to pick up your own cutllery etc. All and all, good place for a quick and rather cheap Asian meal

Very disappointed in the food quality and portion size. I have always liked the pei Wei spicy but it was truly a disappointment today. They no longer put pea pods in the dish, the chicken was sketchy and really skimped on the sauce. I will be taking pei Wei off my «like» list.

The place is so dirty. Everything is sticky. I got the teriyaki meal and it came out with so much sauce it was soup and the veggies tasted bad. Then I got edamame because I wasn’t eating the«soup». There was slimy white stuff(from what I hope was noodles) and little bits of someone else’s stir fry. That sucked. Staff was nice but the don’t care about the food at all.

A good place to go for quick Asian cuisine. Carry out isn’t always the best quality though… eat in is much better.

This evening I tried the Pineapple blazing entrée, which was a dish they were trying in different locations. The pineapple was served as a garnish for the protein and subsequently served cold on the cooked dish. For me it didn’t work mainly because the pineapple wasn’t fresh, even for canned. But this wasn’t the major problem the aforementioned protein, chicken, had bones in it. Once we pointed it out to the staff they did their best to make things right but unfortunately they’ve lost our business.

Meh, I’ve had better. At this location, too, but last Thursday night’s service and food was SOTERRIBLE that it simply must be documented. My husband ordered online at 7:30PM with a guaranteed pick up time of 8:00. We ordered a small Mongolian steak with white rice, regular Dan Dan noodles with no sprouts, and lettuce wraps. Easy enough, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought. I arrived at 7:58 to an almost empty seating area, a lobby full of people waiting for food, and a woman behind the counter delivering an apology, while giggling, for how long food was taking. I didn’t get my food until 8:20, 50 minutes after ordering and 20 minutes after the guaranteed pick up time. During my wait, I witnessed a manager simply say no to a man who requested part of his order be removed from his bill. His two kids were finished eating, and he hadn’t received his meal yet. The manager said there was *no way* he could remove the meal — he made it sound like it was an impossibility. The customer finally relented a short time later when a waitress said it was going to be ready in a few minutes. That dish was packed up and sent home, too late to be enjoyed with his young children. I also witnessed a woman in charge of take out orders mention she was missing various parts of dishes: a lime, extra sauce, those types of things. One of the cooks rolled his eyes with disdain. «We don’t have it. Stop asking.» Ugh. Once I got our food home, we were pretty upset. My Mongolian steak had no green onions and limited mushrooms but TONS of sauce. It was pretty gross. My husband’s Dan Dan noodles looked like dog food — and I know what these noodles look like on a regular basis. Our lettuce was brown in parts, and the meat was cold and lacked those fun crunchy rice noodles. I would have gone back, except it was close to 8:40 at this point and I had an infant who needed to be fed around 9:00. Would I have been better off if I went back? Likely not. Who would have helped me? The manager who seemed to be incapable of fixing it? The cooks who acted as though they’d rather be anywhere but there? Yeah, not worth my time on Thursday evening — or any night in the future.

My boyfriend and I had to stoop to Pei Wei level on New Year’s Day because every Thai place on planet Earth was closed. We ordered online — Shrimp Pad Thai and Tofu/Vegetable Pad Thai — and he picked it up. When he got home, I opened my take out container and… there was zero sauce on mine. None. It was just a container of greasy, flavorless noodles with a few veggies and lots of tofu. I had to flavor it with soy sauce. My boyfriend got very lucky and had sauce on his.(The patriarchy is real, ladies.) It was not worth it to either of us to make the 10 – 15 minute drive back to request a new dish, because I really don’t know how much the sauce would have helped. Will not be back. Mental note for New Year’s Day 2016: order REAL Thai food on NYE. Refrigerate. Reheat in a hungover stupor on New Year’s Day.

Absolutely one of the worst take out meals I have had. The sushi was the width of a quarter and fell apart on the way home. The rice was old and hard. The chicken sweet and sour had such an over powering ginger flavor that it ruined the dish, even the rice tasted like ginger. My boyfriend ordered the Honey chicken with noodles and the noodles tasted like the kind you get from the Thai boxes at Kroger. This was my first time eating Pei Wei and sadly I won’t order it again. The people who work there were really nice though!

This was the last straw, the vegetables inThai dynamite chicken were cold You needed a magnifying glass to find them. The manager did however Give us gift cards for another meal. Less dancing in the kitchen and More attention to the meals served would be a good start.

Yuck, not good at all. I placed an order online and arrived at the time given to me, I had to wait an additional 20 mins… no biggie. However, I get home(3 min drive) and my food was cold! The crab wontons were the worst I have ever had, I don’t even know how to describe them. The gluten free spicy chicken and shrimp was just so-so. The chicken was good but the shrimp was overdone and rubbery. I’ll stick with take out from PF Changs and spend a few extra bucks if I want Asian.

Worst sushi I’ve ever had. Kroger sushi is better. They need to spend less money on their atmosphere. Update. Got my sesame beef, it’s so bad. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Plenty of better options out there. I’m pretty sure the brown rice is instant too 3⁄10 3 for the atmosphere in side the place.

Not in love with the new menu, although the size option is nice. They probably should have shut down this location when they closed all the others, in Michigan. Food is sub-par and a far cry from the original FRESH Asian-fusion concept. Another good idea gone to dust, as corporate strategists obviously undermined the taste, and use of fresh food, by opting for cheaper shortcuts.

I had the crab-cheese appetizer and kung-pow chicken… the texture of the crab cheese and flavor was not good at all, upon further look… it was loaded with flaked crab changing the texture a lot. Typically, I am used to a hint of crab and onion with a creamy cheese filling so this was so different from what I wanted to eat. The kung-pow was okay… it was no PFCHANG even though it was similar styled… so very greasy.

Another meh experience with Pei Wei. I want to mention that I’ve gone to other Pei Wei locations and the food has been very flavorful and filling. At this location yet again the order just seemed like things were thrown together. Service has been hurried on multiple occasions. Even when I’ve placed a carry out order I’ve had to wait well beyond the time I was told that the order would be ready. It disappoints me that I have to rate this place so low because as a company the Pei Wei group is doing a good job providing options for vegetarians. There are so many great options for vegetarians on the menu and everything is labeled clearly for vegetarians or those with food allergies. However it’s more the location that I’m rating. The food at this location didn’t seem as flavorful or fresh as I have had at other locations(or even at PF Chang’s and I think this is an offshoot of PF Chang’s) and service has always been inconsistent.

I go to Pei Wei when my significant other wants to… he loves their pad thai, thinks its the best thing on this planet. Me, I could take it or leave it(Pei Wei in general). I personally would rather go to a chinese or thai restaurant that’s authentic, but I let my man pick restaurants from time to time. So, I hate the pad thai, I think it tastes gross, and I hate the tofu they serve… but he loves it. Normally I’m a lo mein kinda girl. Every time I’ve ordered chicken lo mein from this specific pei wei, it’s either under sauced or has no sauce at all. I always send it back. So, here’s what I do like about Pei Wei. I love their fresh rolls wrapped in the rice paper. I love the sauce that goes with it. I really like their lettuce wraps, and I’m pretty sure they just added new lettuce wraps to their menu. The place is always clean, service is always quick, they are nice at the counter and the kitchen really can move their product. The kitchen is well staffed and really move on getting orders out.

To me, Pei Wei is the quintessential average fast-casual-asian-fusion joint. There’s a nice variety of sub-$ 10 menu items, with either a Chinese, Thai, Japanese, or Korean influence. You can choose your protein(chicken, beef, pork, tofu) and choose your spice level. It isn’t authentic Asian food by any means, but it’s consistent. I like the honey-seared chicken with brown rice, or pad thai(light on the spice). Anything notated as spicy… really is spicy. I’m not a spice wimp, but it’s spicier than I like.
