Main Street Cafe & Grill

Great food! Mexican, seafood, and grill. Service was awesome. Loved the margaritas! We have a great place with good food at a great price.

The service was very lax, but they were busy. We understand that.
So we order and we get part of our meal. We hear our waitress tell another waitress that she gave our child’s food to the wrong kid. Then we see her go over to that table and take the food from that kid, and then, sit it in front of our child. When she does that, I say, «no, that was at someone else’s table.» She says, «what’s the problem? They ain’t ate off of it or nothing.» I said the problem was that it was sitting on their table in front of another kid for a bit. She said, «fine, I’ll get another» and proceeded to jerk it out of my hand. I told her no, she can just get our check. We are done.
My husband gets the check and the pizza is on the check. My husband politely asks for the pizza to be taken off the check. She asked him «why, what was the problem with it? «. He said that it was sitting at someone’s table. She said, «for a whole two seconds». He said, «I’m pretty sure it’s against code or at the very least disgusting.» She argued and said,“fine, I’ll take it off, but there is nothing wrong with it .»
My husband then asked to speak to the manager. She said he’s busy. My husband told her that he was perfectly happy to wait until he wasn’t. She then said, «fine. He’s in the kitchen. Go in there. Suit yourself.» So she did. Once in there, he explained the situation to the manager and he was very apologetic and said he would «take care of us» next time. My husband politely said he appreciated it, but that there would not be a next time — to which the waitress replied, «good».
The sad thing is that the food that we did eat, was pretty good. A simple, «I’m sorry», would have gone a long way.
We are not complainers and are very supportive of waiters and waitresses. We know it’s a hard job. In 13 years together, we have probably asked to see a manager less than a handful of times. We have never, ever been treated this way. It’s ridiculous, busy or not.

The food was good, but the name is highly misleading. I thought with a name like Main Street Café and Grill there would be more «home cooked» options, but the menu was majority Mexican food. I was not expecting that and not wanting Mexican food when I came in so I was highly disappointed. The food in and of itself was good, but don’t let the name mislead you.

Service was most exellent. Menu was shocking as it is called a grill and café. It is mostly mexican food. Tilipa tacos were unediable sent them back for tamales which also were not good. Beans are bland as well as the rice. We tried this place as a result of buying coupons from Royse City School. Think we will give them out as gag gifts.

I’ve been to Main Street Café many times and was pleased, but this time the service was not good. I ordered the all you can eat catfish. It came with 2 pieces. I ate those and then got 2 more. Ate from both of those pieces all but about ¾ of a piece and asked for a to-​go container for that and my fries and hush puppies. Got the bill and there was a $ 2.00 extra charge for those 2 pieces. I asked the server why because I got the all-​you-​can-​eat and the other server stepped in and said because I am taking it to-​go. I told her we would never come back and she said ok… My server was going to take the charge off but I didn’t want her to get in trouble. When I got home I realized I should have just given the food back and let her throw it away & taken the $ 2.00 off my bill. I will not go back there… It was all because of the way I was treated by the second young girl… not the food or my server.

We had a nice experience. Based on what the server told us, this place is under new ownership. The menu is also in the process of being revamped. I ordered a chicken fried steak with gravy and fries. It was pretty good! My husband ordered the catfish fillets and those were really yummy! Oh and the chips and salsa that are provided when you sit down… delish! The salsa is spicy and I loved it! We will go back but probably wait until the new menu comes out.

The owner is a really nice guy. Everything I have tried here as been wonderful. He will also custom make something for you if he has everything. I have had great service and not so great service (but she was young and new). Their hot sauce is very good. I love the Quesdillas.

Simple atmosphere but really good food. Wait staff really friendly. Their catfish is really, really good. When I get the urge to go fishing, I go to Main Street Café.
