Great dairy products for very reasonable prices. I was visiting the area for the world’s largest trivia contest– glad I had the good sense to stock up on cheese curds, spicy cheese, and fresh butter while I had the opportunity. I had eaten«cheese curds» before, but these were in a different level– fresh, almost warm, and super squeaky.

Had my first visit to this Cheese Factory over Christmas and left with $ 60 of different kinds of cheese. Amazing cheese and treat for my kids to see the curds being made as well.

If you are within an hour of Rudolph for any reason, I need you to drop whatever you’re doing and drive to the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese factory immediately. It’s a completely overwhelming place due to the huge variety, but the upside is that even if you basically black out from joy like I did, it’s so cheap that when you emerge from your haze at the register it won’t set you back anything close to what the same haul would at a grocery store. The factory store offers their own stock plus that of other cheesemakers. You can buy cheese by the block, in curd form, wedges, strings, spreads, and even in wax shapes ranging from corn cobs to dinosaurs to football players. You can also buy cream cheese and butter. On my first trip last weekend I got hot pepper Monterey jack, garlic Monterey jack, Dutch-style gouda, cranberry Monterey jack, smoky cheddar, aged asiago, aged sharp white cheddar, cream havarti, aged cheddar spread, cream cheese, and cinnamon honey butter. The total lot(around 6 pounds of cheese) set me back $ 27. That spread is dangerous, as is the smoky cheddar. I’m excited to try the cream cheese as I’ve only ever had the mass-produced variety. I may have walked out with a ridiculous amount of cheese, but at such low prices it was hard to say no. I easily could have walked out with double, but since we were camping there was only so much room in our cooler. I can’t wait to go back, though, to try some other varieties!

Simply the best cheese factory in the world. Having sampled cheese from around the world, I can say without a doubt that this place is tops. The cheese curds, of which there are many varieties, are of the highest quality, always squeaking when eaten and bursting with flavor. The mozzarella and parmesan make excellent pasta toppings, and the string cheese is superb in its peel-back appeal. Also enticing is the fudge, which comes in a couple flavors, and the offerings from other dairies, including flavored butters, sausages, international cheeses, and more. A peculiarity of this retail outlet is their china collection, proudly displayed on the wall in their ice cream parlour. Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co. offers all the classic flavors of scoop ice cream, plus some of the local trends, such as Blue Moon. Don’t forget to grab a cone on your way out!

I’ve been going here sense I was a kid and now I take my daughter. A trip to the cheese factory is always yummy fun. Cheese curds!!! The best!!! You can even go up stairs and watch how they make them. They have more varieties of cheese then I’ve ever seen and they always have samples. After you get your cheese, stop and get some ice cream. Oh by the way, the beef sticks are pretty darn good too. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It’s just an overall great business.

Every time I go up to visit my family in Wis. Rapids, I beg to go shop at the Dairy State Cheese Factory. The prices are great(compared to Madison). The selection is wonderful. The only problem I encounter is that it is just to packed. the lines wrap around the coolers of cheese and it’s hard to shop when you have to squeeze passed people to grab cheese. They are growing to big for their britches. It’s not a bad thing. actually it’s a great thing. On Sundays is when I usually make it out there and they claim to close at 12:00pm but when they have 60 people in the store, I’m sure it’s hard to close the doors. If there was something I would change. It would be the weekend hours. I know I’m used to places in Madison being open till 9:00 pm on weekends but even keeping open to 6 pm would help the flow of costumers through the door. They take cash or check only. and I can’t help but walk out of there with $ 40.00 worth of cheese to bring back to Madison since it costs to much to buy it here :)

Love this place they have a great selection of cheese and the beef sticks are sooo good. My son and I also had a ice cream cone while we were there looking at the chess and I have to say it was the best ice cream ever. The honey is very good to it’s pricey but worth it. The smoked guda is my favorite cheese of them all. But they don’t take credit or debit wich is sucky but It won’t stop me from getting my cheese fix.

You wont find better… good as it gets cheese, sausage, packer stuff, etc. But forget everything else… CURDS are where it’s at. Call first and find out if they will have freshly made warm ones when you arrive… nothing else on this earth like it!!! Almost like stepping back in time… a town of about 20 people, full transparency on the cheese making process, lovely young cheese maidens or very nice farmer wives will wait on you with a smile, and as someone said… no plastic. Bucket list if you live within 200 miles!

Best place to buy cheese. My sister used to live in Wisconsin Rapids, Wi. and every time we visited her we made it a point to go to the Cheese Store in Rudolph. No visit there is complete and satisfying if you don’t have an ice cream cone or a container of ice cream. Mmmmmm Gooood! We are from Illinois and still make the trip !

UPDATE: I bought the multi-pack of cheese cubes with meat sticks at the Dairy — and it’s been producing great omelets back at home. You can’t get this from just one cheese! I’d definitely get that again, and am looking for something similar in NY now.

Imagine winding country roads lined with farms and cows grazing in the pastures. Then you know it must be Wisconsin! This is where the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese Company is located. Imagine the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory of Cheese. They have more cheese varieties than you can imagine. They even make cheese curds here. You can tell the curds are fresh when they are still warm and even squeak when you eat them. Prices are usually a third to half of what one would pay at the local grocery store. No visit is complete unless you visit their ice cream parlor. Large scoops are just $ 1.50! They even offer free samples too!

Horrible experience. I called the owner AKA Mike Moran and asked him a question. He abruptly responded«Sound’s like you’re a god damn Jew» and hung up the phone. Racist pig

My parents have a cabin in the area, so they stop in every time they’re up. After hearing them go on and on about how awesome this place is, I was excited to finally be able to check it out for myself. When you walk in, the store is to the right– filled with pretty much any kind of cheese you can imagine! To the left is the ice cream shop– with a wide variety of flavors. And it’s SO inexpensive and GOOOOD! For 3 double scoop cones, and one single dish– only cost $ 8. You can head up a flight of stairs to view a video of the cheese making process, and also to get a good look at the factory below. The only con I have about this place– the video they show is VERY dumbed-down and corny. Yes, it explains the general process of cheese making so that people of all ages will be able to understand, but it felt to me like it was leaving out some important information and bounced around to different segments too frequently. The quality of the cheese, ice cream, and service totally makes up for that, though!

We call it «The» cheese factory, as in there is no other. All the cheese is fantastic quality and the prices are amazing. They have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000,000,000 different varieties and all you need do is ask and one of the uncommonly-friendly staff will cut you a sample. There is a small room upstairs with vintage cheese and butter memorabilia with a wall of windows so you can watch the cheese making process. This is Wisconsin so of course they have curds, still warm and in several flavors(did I mention you can try before you buy?) They also carry a nice selection of spreadable cheese, beef sticks, maple syrup and many other products from local suppliers. If you come in the winter you can enjoy an ice cream cone in the attached ice cream shoppe or on the outside patio during the summer months’. If you will be within a 2 hour drive I recommend you take the trip to Rudolph but remember to bring your checkbook or cash as they do not take plastic.

My first time at this paticular factory. Excellant cheese, excellant prices, and very nice people working there. The cheese was all wrapped, but the woman working offered to open a couple of them and let us taste them. My friends and I spent close to $ 100 and got a ton of cheese! Wish it was closer than an 1 and a half from my house, but it’s worth the drive anyway. Awesome cheese curds, still warm. Also, you can watch the cheese being made right from the store, it’s very nice.

When I moved from Wisconsin to Chicago, I left behind my friends and family, and they were nice and all but what I really miss is the cheese factory. I will go out of my way to get to Rudolph and stock up. I was just there and I must have bought over 15 kinds of cheese. Its such good quality and the prices are the best I’ve seen. Don’t forget the chocolate cheese when you go! Only down side is they don’t take plastic.
