A few friends and I journeyed up north to visit Cache Creek Lavender Farm for their annual lavender festival in June. We definitely didn’t know what to expect as none of us had ever been there before but overall it was a fun experience and would go again with a few notes in mind. The farm is small and family-run, but they have a great variety of lavender and gave talks throughout the festival explaining the history of the farm and the different kinds of lavender they grow. It was smaller than I expected: one food tent, one dessert tent, one beverage tent, a few tents selling lavender-related products, and one large craft-making tent. They also held craft-making workshops featuring lavender. It cost 5.00 to pick your own lavender, although they also sold pre-cut bunches(both fresh and dry). They accepted Visa for some things but other stands were cash only. I would definitely recommend bringing cash. They had free wine tasting and free lavender lemonade as well, which was great because it was HOT. Coming from San Francisco where it was maybe 70 degrees, I didn’t expect it to be near the 100s and there was very little relief from a faint breeze. I wish I had brought something to fan myself, a hat, sunglasses, we even contemplated bringing parasols next time(and I definitely saw a few!). Luckily we remembered sunblock because the tours and the lavender picking were pretty much in the direct sun. They also didn’t really have restrooms except for two port-a-potties on the property. But besides the heat and lack of facilities, we enjoyed perusing the various products for sale: lavender-scented soaps and creams and other items featuring lavender, as well as other natural products like olive oil and honey. I left with a new appreciation for lavender and a better idea for how to prepare for my next visit. Overall, I recommend it to anyone with an interesting in gardening, nature, or lovely scents!

Cute little farm located in the Capay Valley. Once a year(June 13th and 14th) they have a lavender festival. Its kinda small, but fun for all. Activities include picking your own lavender($ 5 a bunch), lavender wand making(Free), Local venders for olive oil, and all things lavender(soap, oils & bath salts). There was lavender ice cream($ 4) and free lavender lemonade and lavender mint tea. Capay Valley Vineyards was there for wine tasting and you could purchase a bottle($$??) and drink it on site. Parking was not bad, even though we had to park on S.R.16 and walk in about a block and a half. I was a great, sunny, warm day for a little fun in the Capay Valley.
