Rocky’s Roadhouse

One of my all time favorite sandwich shops. I love the rottie or the turkey/​bacon/​avocado. They overload these sandwiches fully of quality toppings for a great price ($ 8.50 for larges). The bread is really what makes these sandwiches the best. If you are stating it passing through Running Springs defiantly stop by.

I love this place. Best sandwiches I’ve ever had. If you’re going to or from Big Bear and don’t stop in, you’re missing out.

On our way over to Lake Arrowhead we stopped off at Rocky’s Roadhouse, we were very pleased it was absolutely delicious, nice ambience, fast service give it a try.

I was very please try surprised by this deli. Luckily I had $ 10 in cash on me since they don’t take credit cards (no worries that is an ATM inside). I asked the young man at the counter what I should get, he asked hot or cold. I went with cold since it was so hot outside. I sat down enjoying the very cold air conditioner (exactly the way I like it as a fat hairy guy). Checked-​in on Swarm, and noticed all the meat and cheese for my sandwich was being sliced fresh for my sandwich I just ordered. Not only is it fresh but all Boar’s Head meats. Then they called my name. I walked up and the sandwich took up the entire length of the typical food trays you normally get in buffet lines. WOW, this thing was huge! I unwrapped it, and took my first bite.
Amazing! The bead was impeccably fresh, actually it was still a little warm with my «cold» sandwich. It was so good. The tomatoes on the top of the sandwich were so great and fresh I took them off, so I could savor them by themselves. The red wine vinegar oil sauce on top was perfect. I made it the. Ready kind by adding mayo, and it was perfect. I was in no way planning on eating the whole sandwich, but it was so good after the first half I simply had to get more and more and more.
I’m a sandwich guy, and this place completely hit the spot!

Seriously, I think this is the best sandwich I’ve ever had. We come to Big Bear once a year, and every year it’s a highlight. I always get the Italian, I’m afraid to try any other because it’s so good.

This is truly one of the best places to grab a sandwich. Not only is everyone super friendly but the quality of food is outstanding. Thank you guys so much for being one of my favorite places to eat.

Delicious sandwich ! Only stopped in once on vacation, got a large Italian sub. Flavorful and good quality meats and cheeses. We will return next time we are in Running Springs

The only reason they are getting 1 stars is cause it’s the only way to leave a review. Went in today 15 mins before they closed. I immediately was rushed and as I was trying to order the rude young girl had the worst attitude ! I will never go back and make sure to let everyone else know around town not to give them business. Not only did she have a bad attitude the rest of the sandwich makers did to … I know the owner guy or manger way there to see it all. So with that said don’t go in bad customer service !

Best sandwiches ever! Pastrami is to die for! Denny knows his food and has been in the industry for a long time! I love his food so much he’s catering my wedding. All the meat is the highest quality! If your in the area or even an hour away its worth a stop! Very friendly staff. Oh and forgot to mention how reasonably priced it is for the quality. I would give 10 stars if i could!

I am an Italian, son of a butcher and love a good deli. I came upon this gem in Running Springs a few years ago. They utilize Boar’s Head meats which are among the finest. I would be in serious trouble if this place was closer to both my homes. My wife and I usually visit Rocky’s on Sundays, on the way home from our cabin. Every time I walk in I say, «Today is a good day!»
The bread they make the sandwiches with is awesome. Almost like dutch crunch, but easier to chew and holds well. We have had the Italian, which is my «go to», the wood carver, eggplant parm, and pastrami. All are excellent. The flavors they pull off easily make this place the best in my life so far. I’m 46 and I have been to New York and Chicago. They were good, but this is something else .
This last weekend I met the owner. Great guy and you could tell he takes pride in what he does. If you really want a treat, try the home made brownies. Good God!
I can not wait to go back.

I have never been to RS before. I came across this place, and there were a lot of locals there. The sandwich I had was very tasty — turkey and salami. The ingredients were fresh. I ordered a half sandwich and large coke and spent 8 dollars. I would eat here again if I had the opportunity.

Ok, this past Sunday was my third visit to this establishment, the second in this particular location. And after three visits, I can confidently say that this place does not disappoint. So far I’ve tried only the pastrami and the Reuben, and both were exceptionally good. The pastrami is juicy and the bread is toasted and crunchy on the outside, and soaked with the pastrami juices. The Reuben is different from a traditional Reuben, as Rocky’s is topped with slaw. Still delicious.
The staff is great too! We brought in a group of 27 hungry men, and they accommodated us. They have a nice outdoor seating area downstairs, which fit our group perfectly.
I would recommend this place for anyone up in the Big Bear/​Arrowhead/​Running Springs area.

Great sandwich place right off the 18 highway.
Pros:
+ The bread is fresh, freshly toasted, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, outstanding.
+ The Boars Head meats are as tasty and good quality as always.
+ Friendly staff and good prices.
+ The large sandwiches are gigantic. The 8″ sandwich was more like 12″ in my opinion and definitely filling.
+ Homemade potato salad and tuna salad were very good as well.
+ Restaurant space was clean and well maintained. Tables are made of large slices of trees and you basically eat on the tree rings.
Cons:
— No vinegar available for topping a sandwich, but this is a minor gripe.
Overall this is a great sandwich place and definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

I know it’s up the mountain but the sandwiches here are the real deal. This ain’t your local subway. Once you eat here you’ll ask subway where’s the meat. Try the pickle eggs

If you are on the mountain, EAT HERE! That simple. The sandwiches are huge and high quality everything. Bread is wonderful and they use Boar’s Head brand meats. My favorite is ‘The Rottie’. Cash ONLY but there is an atm inside. (I was given a free drink ;)
I don’t care how far you live from here, get in your car and try these sandwiches!

Cute little Restuarant on the mountains. We stopped by today on our way back home from Big Bear. The staff are friendly & welcoming. It seemed the meat & hot sandwiches are really great & popular. But due to our diet restrictions we ordered the tuna sandwich to go. We got the spicy jalapeño chips along with it. The tuna sandwich was very fresh & tasty. The bread was so fresh & warm! Next time, we are gonna order the eggplant Parmesan. lol
Definitely recommend this place to everyone in the area. They only accept cash though so make sure you have money with you.

When leaving Big Bear and driving down the hill, this is a good place to stop off along the way to whet your whistle. Just discovered on my second visit that they have what looks to be a really nice outdoor patio down the stairs, out back. Next time here, we’ll definitely go out there, instead of sitting out front on the chairs that are missing chunks of padding, only to watch the traffic pass by.
The staff has never been overly friendly, but the beer prices ($ 3/​bottle) are good. If I’m ever hungry, I’ll have to try one of their Boar’s Head sandwiches.
