Stopped in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning and ordered breakfast special. $ 5.79. A lot of food for the price. 2 eggs, 3 strip of bacon, biscuit and gravy, and hashbrowns. The food was appealing to the eyes and was good. The bacon was thick, very lean and crispy. The biscuit was tender and medium fluffy. The outside was a little crispy, but worked well in the gravy. The service was great. Quick and attentive. All in all, a very good breakfast. I will stop in again.

In the mood for a real meal? This is the place for old fashioned good food and good service. Old South provided Rich flavors without over salting. In fact I requested no butter and Rhonda assiduously ensured I got Chicken Fried Steak without butter. She even had the gravy put on the side in case I might be allergic to it. My picky British husband was in heaven with Rhonda’s own plain horseradish and Hines malt vinegar. He’s usually uppity about being served frozen broccoli but says they cooked it so well he enjoyed every last bite. If you’re an antique car fan or enjoy the 50’s diner experience this is the place for you. But if you love a good meal don’t bypass this little slice of heaven. And ask for Rhonda!

Nice Southern restaurant with excellent food and service! The food came fast even when the place was packed. Breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the biscuits and gravy. Be warned, the Petit Jean ham plate is massive but worth it!

Looooved the fried pickles! The service was very friendly and timely. The ham and eggs weren’t anything special, and the sweet tea wasn’t great at all. I was caught off guard being charged for a refill! I would go back, but only for an order to go of the fried pickles!

Friends don’t let friends go to Old South. While the exterior is a little rough, the interior of this restaurant is dirty, sticky, and threadbare. It needs a major renovation and about 5 industrial barrels of bleach. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak. It came with a dinner salad(brown and wilted!), a yeast roll(hockey puck), and a twice-baked potato. The steak itself was so soft I’d guess it was made of processed spam. It was bland and topped with a bland cream gravy. I love Chicken Fried Steak, but this is as bad as it gets outside of a nursing home. The twice-baked potato took 22 minutes and arrived long after I finished my meal. My total was $ 12+ after a 15% tip which seemed incredibly generous given the service I got. What a dump. I’ll never be back.

Was hoping for more based on reviews. First off I noticed the sticky floors and torn seats in the booths. Biscuits were hard as rocks. Overall the food was average at best. The waitress was great and super friendly. Decent prices and nice size menu

Driving by this place I noticed all the cars for lunch time. I came back about an hour later and the crowd was manageable. I now know why there was a crowd. Really funky place, old school diner. Seasoned waitresses with strong southern accents, awesome. Surprisingly good! Chose breakfast fare and it was really good. Home made biscuits with tasty gravy. Bacon so thick it could chip a tooth, but oh so good. Can’t wait to visit Russelville again, just to taste some good hometown food.

I really enjoy eating at the Old South. You can get a variety of things on their menu, but I typically get breakfast anytime of the day. I think the prices are decent and the staff is always friendly. The décor is classic 50’s.

A local favorite in Russellvile, Old South is a blast from the past! This restaurant is as old as it looks, but cleaner than it’s first day in business. Old South has served the Russellville area for decades, welcoming generations of customers. The décor is classic and the atmosphere is timeless. Visitors to this establishment will immediately notice the restaurant’s classic feel and southern charm. Depending on the time of day this place can be packed, but service is almost always consistent. The people who work here and run the place truly do care about and remember their customers. The food here tastes great, especially for the price. I usually prefer to order the catfish sandwich or a custom omelet with olives and vegetables. The fried okra here is some of the best, a must order extra that you cannot deny. They serve up everything from breakfast to lunch at any given time and it’s never an issue if you want eat eggs in the evening or dine on burgers early in the day. Overall, Old South definitely serves up great food at a down to earth price that anyone can afford. If you happen pass by the the Russellville area and want a bite to eat, then this is definitely a great place to go!

The house salad dressing is famous! Catfish is the area’s best. Daily lunch special’s are fast and inexpressive. Pancakes are the size of dinner plates.

Clean fair service. Food is just average at best. A little pricey for what you get
