Most stores are closed. The mall is failing, and perhaps the most depressing mall I have ever been to anywhere. Don’t waste your time.

Here’s a little local history lesson; in 1997 the old Rutland mall was closing(or closed, I can’t remember) and I was in 6th grade. There was buzz around town about the new mall; where it would go, how big it would be, etc. I remember a lot opinion articles in the Rutland Herald about traffic/environmental concerns, and at some point in class we had to write a persuasive essay about the new(Diamond Run) mall. I guess they had already chosen a site because the debate had boiled down to Wetlands vs. Rutland mall. 15 years later the verdict is in. Wetlands. I think I can safely say that in another 15 years we will see this place overgrown with weeds, slowly sinking back into the swamp.

This poor mall! Going down. There’s barely any stores left. The associate was really nice at GNC. Hope he makes it out of Rutland to big bad Burlington. Would only come here if I needed exercise, lots of room to walk laps due to lack stores and people.

So sad, so very sad. When this mall was built over 15 years ago, it was supposed to replace the failing Rutland Mall. The Diamond Run mall never had a stellar start, but at least most of the stores were occupied. Now half the mall is an empty rotting hulk. Unless you want to fall into a deep depression, avoid this place.

So we went to Rutland and we ended up here… First thing is first… We came here on a black Friday this past year. The mall it self is pretty big for a VT mall. This mall does lack in some areas. I thought it would have been better my self. For one the mall is big and has a lot of store front space. This is GREAT! There is one problem though… The MALLISHALFEMPTYORCLOSED! This is just an automatic FAIL! I mean why have all that store front if you don’t have anything to go there? I mean I understand not every store front is going to have something. My issue here is I came here to shop with the girlfriend. We found nothing all that worth while other than Bath and Body Works(I have a review of this location up already. Go check it out!). So with the mall lacking in stores guess what that means? NOONEISCOMINGINTOSHOP. So the first thing Id do is open more store fronts to make people wanna come here… Now they do have some good general stores in the mall. Some to check out would be your common Gamestop, KB Toys, Olympia Sports, Shoe Department store, and Bath and Body Works. There is also some locally owned stores as well. All of them offer something different. Just fill in the closed store fronts and it would be better. I would love to see something like a champs sports, music store of some kind or even a movie store of some kind. Even if its just an FYE. Parking is great! They have a ton is spaces for parking. Again they are lacking is people coming in to shop it seems. So to find parking on a Black Friday was easy! Plus parking is free! I swear I’m to used to the malls in Boston, MA! You gotta pay to park! So I get all excited when its free! So over all my main problem is this place feels a lot more like a ghost town rather than a mall. Fill in the holes and I’m sure it would be a lot better! The up keep on the mall also seems ok. Could be cleaner but then again you cant have everything now can we… Or can we… :) sad but true 2÷5…
