Me and my girlfriend were coming back from Hard Labor Creek and decided to stop here to try a local restaurant. We were very happy with what we found. I had the turkey and avocado wrap and she had the chicken tenders. It was a nice small town atmosphere. The staff were eating the the same things that were on the menu, which to me is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

#147 I absolutely loved this place! We pulled up and parked directly out front of the restaurant. Across the street is a park replete with swings, slides and a wonderful seesaw for the kids to play. I think they do not actually want to eat, they only say it sounds good to go to Yesterday’s Café because of the play area – but who cares? They got me to try a new place. We walked in and there was a guy playing the guitar in the front and the staff welcomed us, saying, «Grab a seat anywhere y’all like.» Done. I chose a booth for the family and our server Will came directly over with menus, bread, water and a friendly southern, «Hello.» He handed us the daily special menu with the regular menu and it seemed like there were too many decisions. Everything looked so super fattening and amazing. My daddy chose the shrimp and grits with green beans and biscuits. My mommy got the fried chicken salad. Amane got potato casserole and green beans(she loves veggies and she’s barely 3 – wow!) and I had the fried green tomato sandwich with fried okra. Everything was superb. The music guy played some old favorites on the guitar as we ate, and Will, our server checked on us regularly, making sure we were in need of nothing – thanks Will! After bringing us boxes and cleaning the table, Will offered dessert. I told WIll I liked him, but if he kept pushing dessert on me we were going to have a problem :) We finished, paid and thanked Will. My daddy gave my little niece Amane $ 5 so that she could go tip the«music guy» as she calls him. He wished us a Merry Christmas, which is kind of premature, but thoughtful at any rate. Delicious food, great service. Stephani Smiles for Yesterday’s Café ;)

Been twice and will not go back. Both times it was overpriced and the food was not good.

I was with a group. The service and food were not acceptable. It was even slow to pay the bill although they were not busy. Will not go back!

When traveling we like to try local interesting places. Yesterday’s was a perfect example. I had the home made chicken tortillas soup — it was home made with lots of big chunks of chicken and a really great flavor. Then I had a meatloaf sandwich on home made sourdough bread. Incredible. The meatloaf was tender, moist and very tasty but it was the fresh baked bread that made the sandwich!!! To quote my wife: «I had THEBEST Caribbean chicken wrap with chef’s own Caribbean sauce and salad with the homemade tropical dressing — OMGoodness — out of this world fantastic. I was even allowed to buy some of her Caribbean sauce.» The service was excellent and attentive. Based on another review below I made a point to check out the restrooms and they were not only well maintained and clean, they were also very well decorated. I think one problem with this list of reviews is the confusion between this restaurant in Rutledge and another, unrelated establishment of the same name in Greensboro Ga. According to our waitress the person who started Yesterday’s sold it to the current owner, Chris. The previous owner then moved to Greensboro and started another restaurant of the same name. Some people have posted reviews under the wrong Yesterday’s. Trust me — I almost NEVER give 5 stars but this Yesterday’s deserved it.

The Hamburgers were great– well marinated meat! The Buttermilk Pie was awesome! Nice vintage atmosphere– still has the pressed tin ceiling, and interesting old pictures!

Tried the seasonal creamy squash soup! It was delicious! Fresh locally grown squash made the soup very flavorful! Got the fried white fish with a sweet potato for the main course. Fish was a little over done but very tender! Had a great flavor. Buttermilk pie is good as always. Tried the chocolate buttermilk pie for the 1st time. Not what I expected, it is more cake/brownie like than pie. Overall had a very good experience will be back soon!

The Yesterday’s Café in Rutledge is different from the one in Greensboro. We ate at the one in Rutledge and the food quality has gone down considerably over the past couple of years. It use to be fresh, in season food now its frozen commercial food. Ordered the blackened salmon, it came plain and rubbery, the potato casserole was more potato goo and the green beans were canned. I put it par on with hospital food. We went for the buttermilk pie, but in the end didn’t order it because I didn’t want to spend more money and continue to be disappointed.

Yesterday Café has relocated down the road from Rutledge to Greensboro, GA. It is all about southern comfort food. My bros said it was all heavy, salty, tasty and good if you know what I mean. Might be the best place to eat in downtown Greensboro. Owner came by our table and was very sweet. I liked the feel of the property, our group of 8 golfers had no trouble downing the sweet tea and prime rib specials. The waitress was even able to accommodate my odd ball request for just a baked sweet potato(no butter) and large salad(no cheese). Apparently I was the first alien vegan to land at Yesterday Café! ha-ha! Somehow we always find something to eat.

In the little town of Rutledge, GA; across the street from the park stands a country kitchen worth a look. Good biscuits and country style potatoes. Others in my party enjoyed the ham and gravy. So if you every make a wrong turn off I-20 or just feel like a little get away. Join this small Georgia town for breakfast or lunch. Good service and prices to boot.

Nestled on the main street of historic Rutledge, you won’t need to worry about finding a parking spot on a Thursday night. While waiting on the food, the kids were enthralled by the collection of cracker barrel-like items for sale including the Jacob’s ladder and the country-come-to-town greeting cards. Although I didn’t venture to the restrooms, they were apparently disgusting enough to warrant negative comments from my daughters. But since I didn’t see them, then I can’t include that in my review, now can I? The kids jumped for fried okra with their meals in lieu of the fries. The bleu cheese burger, kid’s burger, and chicken tenders were nothing remarkable but met our expectations. The kids opinion? Well, they were excited to eat out without their two younger two siblings and probably had the first«relaxing» meal in lives. But I digress. The kids really enjoyed dining in a place that wasn’t McDonald’s and it meant enough for them to comment on it several times later on. Let’s just say that their standards are probably a tad lower than yours. However, it was a peaceful way to spend a Thursday evening en route to the lake from the big city. Set your expectations accordingly, and you’ll appreciate the assistance this little café provides with slowing down the thoughts running through your mind as well as your stress levels. The warm chocolate buttermilk pie with whipped cream was a clear winner with the girls once I convinced them that they need not worry about the actual taste of the claimed primary dairy content. The no-longer-safe-for-installation 10′ slide at the park across the street is clearly visible and the focus of our after-dinner excursion. You may even meet some friendly local barefoot kids who biked to the playground to play unsupervised. They quickly offered their assessment of and tips for maximizing enjoyment with all of the playground equipment. Yep, we’re not in Atlanta anymore, kids. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Service was good, fried green tomatoes were ok. That is about it for the positives. My fathers 12oz prime rib had a 4 oz chunk of fat on one end of it. My club sandwich had just one piece of bacon on it and very little turkey and ham. The bread was a cheap hogie roll as well. My wife’s French dip was not very good either, she wished we went to Arby’s. I was extremely disappointed because I used to really like this place. It must be under new management or something. Before it was always packed. When we pulled up tonight it was almost empty. I thought it was odd but went in anyway, won’t be going in again any time soon.

You go here if you want the real fried green tomato. That’s served during lunch. And seasonal. I fired up the soul kitchen by stopping by here for a country breakfast. A warm place full of warm people. Country fries. Bacon. Eggs. And a country ham biscuit. And let me add those biscuits are some smoldlerin’ Southern baked doughy hospitality They also had pancakes which I did not partake in outside of one bite, but that one bite was quite good. Good coffee, too.
