Uncle Bruce’s Saloon

Stopped by one night and was hit with all of the cigarette smoke like a bag of bricks and could not find a seat at the bar. Since I was meeting friends there decided to stand and just grab a beer from the bar and sit at a table. After about 10 minutes of waiting I decided to leave and text my friends to meet me somewhere else.
Giving it two stars because it is a dive bar that some people may enjoy (and the atmosphere that goes with it).

I visited Bruce’s Monday afternoon. It was slow but I expected that. When I got there the bar was full. There was only a couple of seats left. I sat and within a minute I was greeted and served. All the other reviews were accurate. This is a dive bar. Long necks served with a jack in coke here and there. Mostly older crowd of regulars.

I’m sure this place is great if you are a regular.
My friend and I decided to go in and have a drink. We walked in and everyone stared at us. We almost walked out at that point, but we decided to get a drink anyway.
We sat at the bar and waited. And waited. And waited. The girl server walked by us at least twice. The guy server waited on us after he finally finished his conversation with what I assume were a couple of regulars.

Uncle Bruce, I just really hope the cops really won’t be hanging out outside your place. We like you but we need to really plan out the next time we come visit you. We drove all the way from Plano just to check you out. I just want to have a good time.

Dive bar is an understatement. You’re greeted with the most obscene cloud of smoke upon entry. And it literally is like stepping into the middle of someone’s high school reunion. Complete with a pregnant chick playing pool. (Actually saw that. She must not have been concerned about second hand smoke being an issue for her unborn child.) This place is just gross all across the board, from décor to the patrons. If this is the place for you then I can rest assured that we will NOT cross paths while out for the evening.

This place rocks! The owner is a master at running a bar and the service is great!!!

This is a traditional bar with some added bar food. The food is actually pretty decent, but that is not why you should go here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The regulars are very friendly.
The bar tends to fill in cycles and often gets overage from other bars in the area. By far one of the best bars I have been in. But I am biased in my review as this is my «go-​to» bar after a night out.

As a huge fan of dive bars this one can be hit or miss. Enjoy bringing a group and taking over the upper seating area. They have some fun games to play if that’s your thing and the crowd is very diverse. Ranging from 20’s to 50’s. depending on the night it can get packed and fun.

It hurts me to give this place a 1 star review because it has so much potential. The bar itself is really cool– very eclectic mix of posters, stickers, and framed artwork definitely geared toward men (think hot girls bent over hot rods) but still appealing from a woman’s perspective. You can tell the owner has a quirky, fun personality.
My boyfriend & I went in on a Saturday night around 9pm. It was pretty dead when we first arrived but quickly filled up. The problem is everyone piling in was clearly already far beyond intoxicated and not just drunk but drunk and looking to start a fight. One girl decided to stand right behind my bar stool to order a drink for herself and nearly knocked me off my stool. At that point we decided to go sit at a table. The bar stool I happened to get had a huge slit down the middle so I was essentially sitting on the inside foam of the chair. Being very uncomfortable, I decided to swap that stool out for the one I was just sitting on. As I go to do that, some drunken hillbilly mumbles incoherently to me that I was stealing his girlfriend’s chair. Since he looked like the kind of guy who wouldn’t think twice about hitting a woman, I tried to calm the situation. But immediately after that confrontation, we got our check and left.
I’m sad to say that we won’t return because of the crowd because it seems like it could be a really cool place to go on a Saturday night.
What I’d recommend to the owner is a bouncer at the door checking IDs and checking blood alcohol levels before serving already sloppy drunks more beer muscles.

My husband and I have lived in Wylie for 5 years and we’ve been coming here since it was sparkys. It’s never about the place, it’s about the staff and how they treat you that makes or breaks a place. We have come to know the regulars and adore and appreciate the staff at Uncle Bruce’s and have had many great times and met some really great people. That being said I just wanted to mention that both my husband and myself have all of our teeth and have great jobs.
