This business has closed its doors. If they have moved, I know not where. Too sad. There food items were wonderful.

This place has gone out of business. Too bad, they had great bread.

What Happened??? went out to get my usual and the store was closed. It was 9:50 when I arrived and the hours are clearly posted. 9 – 5 Mon. thru Sat. No note on the door to indicate what was going on. I am a big fan of the bread even though the footprint is large but when I drive 30 mins to get bread, I really want bread! Good thing there is another place in the area to get my morning bread. Hope this is a one off… OMG, I just called the property management for T and C and they told me that Backer Back is leaving, as in going out of business. there goes the best bakery in town, hands down…

The triangular rye/grain bread is delicious! And it’s super healthy too. The store is clean and organized. There’s a section off to the corner that’s 30% off marked prices because it’s a day old, but like another Unilocaler said, there are no marked prices! I wasn’t interested in those anyways. I went there specifically for the rye/grain bread(I can’t remember what it’s called!). It’s $ 4 something. Pretty reasonable since it’s all quality ingredients and it’s a bakery, but I probably couldn’t get it as often as I would like to. Heads up, you can get it sliced too.

Some of the very best bread I have ever had the pleasure of gobbling up. And I do claim some authority, being a horrible bread fiend. European-inspired. Looking forward to returning and sampling some of their pastries. Please don’t go anywhere, now that I’ve found you!

I had to drop a friend of a University Art for a class so while I decided to wait 4 hours for my friend I looked across the street. I said to myself I see a plaza that I have not yet explored. Off on an adventure I went, Starbucks, okay… jamba juice, okay… Noah’s Bagels, okay… As I turned the corner from Starbucks I away a the corner of my eye«Bread?» What is this fine establishment I asked myself. I walked in with my hoodie up over my head thinking I’m going to rob this place of all of there glorious looking bread. As I looked through each pastry cabinet I swallow on the taste one at a time. Reminiscing on the flavors of each pastry and bread. I see samples and I say why not have some… OMG!!! So moist and so flavor and home-some. As I took another piece it was there that I saw my true calling — the Napoleon. 2 – 3 inches high so flaky and the whipped cream was just calling my name — EATME, KONG! EATME! Every time I looked at it it just smiled and glared back at me. I bought it and slowly devoured flaky by flaky bite by bite. This is one of my second locations for bakery purchases. It was so darn delicious I be going there again.

Haven’t been to the actual location yet, but my sister surprised us with beautiful pastries yesterday morning. We sampled two cannolis(chocolate and vanilla) and a HUGE napoleon made with ricotta cheese, if I’m not mistaken. The pastries were light yet filling, and definitely made me want to visit and try more. I am looking forward to try their fresh breads, and more yummy sweet treats.

We were fortunate enough to have their wonderful pastries imported to our Holiday party by our relatives in the Sacramento area… The cheese croissant was out of this world… yum! The good/bad of it is that it is a bit far… so I will just have to wait for a trip to my hometown for more!

Pastries… I love them… I have to admit that most of the product I tried tasted older … I visited when they first opened … Maybe that is why…

The bread here is excellent; for the same price as a loaf at the grocery store you can buy the parbaked bread and finish it off at home, all the goodness of fresh bread with none of the mess!

Mmm! I walked past this place and had to stop. They had all these pastry goodies for sample. I had some raspberry struddle that was delicious. The cheese filled pastry wasn’t too bad either. I thought the cheese was cream cheese but it as a more savory cheese. They have lots of goodies. From cakes to tarts, croissants to breads! It reminds me of a smaller Tartine Bakery. I will be back!

This place has the BEST selection of pastries I’ve ever had. Hands down. Not only are pastries and breads delicious, but the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable of their products. Ask for a sample of anything, and not only will they give you a generous portion, but they can tell you anything about it and they’ll do it all with a smile on. The environment is cozy and inviting in every way possible. I recommend this bakery to anyone and everyone in Sacramento looking for a delicious treat.

I second the low rating several other folks here gave this sorry excuse for a supposedly German Bakery. The bread looks good, the pastries look great… but there is no flavor to be found… anywhere, made me very cranky… I guess the owner is from Russia, but the does not know how German bread is supposed to taste. I went to this store twice, just to make sure that neither I nor the baker had a bad day, or just in case I might have had a bit of German food elitism and be overly critical . I took some samples to my neighbors thinking I would treat them to some freshly baked bread from my home country, but nobody liked the bread or any of the pastries I bought, they all agreed with me that everything was plain old bland. I went back and talked to the baker about it and he sort of looked at me like I was crazy, I guess that is one place where I won’t be spending any of my money. For great, freshly baked German bread I reccomend the Sunday morning market under the freeway by 5th and W, that is the real stuff.

One of the worst bakery experiences I can remember. Product is parbaked and frozen(in a factory no doubt), shipped to the«bakery“and then baked to completion. I tried a pain au raisin and the texture was clay-like(indicates an undermixed, cheap dough) and the flavor non-existent. The positive reviews above are apparently written by friends of the owner or shut-ins. Back Back is an insult to bakeries everywhere.

My family and I dropped by on a Saturday at noon. We went because of the good reviews. I was somewhat disapointed. My two boys wanted pastries and the choices were VERY limited. The disinterested lady working the counter told us that Saturday was very busy and they sell out quickly. We purchased an apple bar, a raspberry cheese roll and some other berry cheesy thing along with a loaf of a dense triangle rye with lots of chewables inside. The bread was good. Would probably go well with a rustic soup or stew. The pastries, however, were somewhat stale and overpriced. Next time I want a pastry, for that kind of money, I’ll next door to Sarbucks and buy a fresh one.

I LOVE the bread from Backer Back. Their loaves are imported from Germany par-baked so they are finished here at their local shop. There is something especially good about bread doughs made with that German grains and water. There are yummy pastries and rolls and cookies too but I heartily recommend going for the seedy, grainy, rye breads in all the different varieties.

Fantastic brand new bakery that uses traditional German and Swedish recipes. Unique circular glass display case in the middle of the bakery. The customer service was great, very eager to help and made great recommendations. They were baking cookies when I walked in, always a good sign. I had the grain edge bread, it was dense and delicious. I also had the almond bar, cottage cheese turnover, and a croissant stuffed with chocolate and real hazelnuts. Please see my pics. Best of all they are quite generous with the samples.
