Unfortunately, I had an absolute terrible experience with Britt and my wedding dress… I got married in Nov 2013 and honestly waited to ‘cool off’ before writing this review. But let’s start with the positives, because there were a couple:(1) Britt has a very pleasant, friendly personality. So does her little dog Cooper, who is with her all the time.(2) Britt helped me pick a dress that looked really good on me. I sent her 30 or so pictures of styles that I liked, and when I went to her boutique the first time, she had me try on a couple of dresses and I simple fell in love with the second one, which she then ordered for me in the right color and size. This is where the mishaps begin… 1. I tried my new dress with 4-inch high heel shoes on, but Britt cut the dress so short during the alterations, that I had to return my gorgeous shoes and trade them in for a 2.5-inch heel… Very disappointing, given I wanted to stand very tall on my wedding day. 2. Britt’s artistic input for my dress was meant to «jazz it up». She had this great idea to cut the dress open and insert a piece of lace. I also wanted her to make sleeves out of the same lace. The idea was excellent, but the execution was a huge failure… * The lace insert was crooked, cut uneven, and as a result it pulled my dress up on one side. Also, the stitching on one side of the lace looked like a beginner’s first attempt at using a sewing machine. * The lace was bunched up in a big«lump» at the top — so badly that I had to stick a broche onto it so people won’t see how bad it was. * Britt sewed the sleeves by hand during the multiple sessions at her boutique. I thought at the end, after we decided on the width and length, she would sew them professionally, using a sewing machine or something like that. Nope. The end result was a pair of unevenly pleated sleeves with white strings sticking out here and there — both from the hand sewing and also from the fact that the ends of the lace had not been hemmed. 3. The alterations(lace insert, sleeves, including material, taking the length in, sewing in a bra, bustle, and dry cleaning/steaming the dress) was supposed to cost $ 150. When my credit card got charged, it was for $ 272. When I called Britt she said she had made a mistake«charging tax» and was going to refund me «the extra $ 22». Not«$ 122». And she never refunded me the $ 22. 4. Another thing we had agreed on was for Britt to sew in a bra. This never happened. 5. The other thing I didn’t care for was the fact that Britt called me in for pointless appointments — I’d get there only to find my dress in the same exact state as the previous time, with no progress made. So we’d just go over the«next steps» again and again… Very frustrating, given I’d waste an hour and a half every Saturday for zero accomplished. One time she even called me when I was turning onto her street — to let me know she couldn’t make the appointment because she was sick. That was 2 minutes before the appointment, after I had driven for forty minutes to get there. 6. Britt promised a tiny yet beautiful rhinestone for my bustle. During the very last appointment, she sewed in a plain plastic button. So much about the rhinestone. 7. During the same last visit, I noticed that my dress had not been dry cleaned or steamed. Britt said it had been, but the dress got wrinkled in her car and that the same thing would happen to me when I take it home. She then proceeded to steam my dress in front of me — and it looked great — which confirmed to me that it had never been steamed before. Plus I could see the traces of dirt on the train — from the multiple try on’s. Those were still there, despite the«dry cleaning». So, if you’re looking for great personality and to hang out with a fun little poodle(who by the way will occasionally try to climb up your dress), I absolutely recommend Britt. She is one of the friendliest, funniest people you could be around. And like I said, she had a great eye for finding a dress that worked for me. Not sure what her markup was on that — it seemed expensive to me, but who cares, right, it’s a wedding dress, brides will pay anything to look great on their big day. You will, however, want to take your alterations somewhere else.

If your buying a dress for a special occasion, this place offers personal service and care like no other. I will never forget walking into this shop just as a bride called frantic that her dog had destroyed her dress train. The situation was mended(literally) and the bride ended up with a beautiful solution. What better service can you ask for? This store is a fabulous addition to Midtown Sacramento

I was in a bit of a pinch, in search for a dress for my engagement pictures. I went by Britts place and they were not open. I called and left a message and the owner called me back to schedule an appointment to come in and see what she has available. At the time they were having some plumbing/water issues so the store had been closed for repairs. I will defiantly go back, great customer service and I found the perfect dress

I bought my wedding dress and jewelry from Britt Steele. Here is the story of how I came to do this: After being tired of shopping at David’s Bridal, I was pretty fed up with the dress search. My friend saw a white dress in the window and told me about it. I came in, not really knowing that Britt Steele is a boutique that has sample sizes. She may not have the exact size/color you need when you walk in. If you find one you like, she orders your size. She said she would call me when they had samples come in that she liked for me. Well, I pretty much forgot about it and then a month later she called me with some dresses to try on. Lo and behold, I found one that didn’t look dreadful on me. In fact it looked pretty. Let me tell you the many reasons why you should go here: 1. Personal service. She will style you, not make you try on things that are ugly and don’t flatter you. This is very important, because you want to look and feel amazing. 2. You don’t have to deal with a bridal salon atmosphere 3. She doesn’t have the big, heavy, poufy wedding dresses. I don’t want a dress that can stand on its own. She sells evening dresses that are gorgeous. 4. You won’t pay $ 1000 and up for aforementioned big, heavy, poufy wedding dress 5. She provided alterations and cleaning *included* in the price of the dress. Do you know how amazing that is??? 6. She is very nice and friendly, she does not judge you… she helps you(especially important for people not knowledgable in fashion, like me!) I think going to her was one of the best decisions I made, and I only wish I had found her sooner! Don’t forget to make an appointment, especially for a wedding dress search.
