Ca State Board Of Equalization

To begin, I did not see a Board of Equalization page for Fairfield, Ca. This is directed toward their office to let the public know what they did: May Tolman in the Fairfield, California Board of Equalization office is a liar and a thief. She made the mistake of sending my family’s car repair business a refund check, and asked me to send it back. I told her I received the check and it was available for her to pick it up, but she told me I needed to cash it, write a new check, and send it back. I asked if she would cover all the fees for mailing the money back, and she said yes. I did all the work to send back the check that they sent in error to my family’s business. I provided her with a list of receipts and a total balance owed to my family’s business. Evidence is available via e-​mail. She told me I would not be getting the money back. She cost our business almost $ 100.00. She told me to speak to other BOE representatives who told me I would not be getting the money back even though it was in writing.

This State Board isn’t trying to close anyone down. I don’t think that’s their «business». They are doing their best to keep businesses in Sacramento open, and they deserve a well placed review by me, for just that.

This building is a lot nicer than the rep it gets. And although Spahr Café only takes cash, the food and pricing is better than the Oakland state building, by a mile. There’s a nice flat screen in the cafeteria for your CNN fix.

The cafeteria food is good and well priced. Only downfall is that they take only cash, which causes some problems when you don’t have any on you

Just spent over an hour on the phone with one of the State Board of Equalization representatives trying to help me correctly file a monthly state tax return. The representative was knowledgeable, super patient (technology was involved) and provided the best customer service, private and public sectors included.
It is experiences like these that make me feel my tax $$ are going to good use.
Thank you, State of California for making a tedious task actually enjoyable! :D
