My husband and I had our wedding reception here 10 days ago and we were very happy with the outcome. Sandi and Greg were a pleasure to work with from the start — ensuring that we were happy every step of the way. They shared wonderful ideas and we felt comfortable trusting their expertise in the wedding business. Sandi is a florist and also did the flowers for our wedding which made it easy and convenient. She required that I do a bit of homework regarding flowers, but it’s to ensure that there were no hiccups and I’m appreciative of that aspect of her business. She did a wonderful job on my bouquet, the flowers for my centerpieces, the groomsmen boutineers — pretty much anything flower related! She is very prompt in her response time and was always able to answer any questions I had. On the day of, everything went great! I loved the way Sandi utilized my decorations, the food was AMAZING, and I was always able to find her if I needed anything. We chose this venue initially because of the brick outdoor patio with string lights, but we ended up getting that and more in working with the Courtyard D’Oro team. I would definitely recommend this venue!

I was married here and it was everything I wanted. Several of my guests told me how beautiful it was. Sandi and Greg were wonderful! The chef(I forget his name) did such an amazing job that everyone cleaned their plates! It was romantic and I felt like a princess. Sandi made sure it was the wedding of my dreams. Thank you!

My husband and I got married at the Courtyard at the beginning of May 2015, and we cannot be more happy that we did. We had a large wedding, about 200 guests, and the venue comfortably fit them all. Sandy, who is the event coordinator as well as house florist, is an absolute rockstar. She was patient and kind and truly helped make our wedding day absolutely perfect. She was extremely attentive to all our needs the entire time, but particularly during«crunch time», the month before. The food from Event Architects was also stellar. My favorite was the melt in your mouth salmon. All of my guests are still raving about our wedding! I would highly recommend this venue to brides and grooms. You will be more than happy you did!

Reasons not to get married here. — Noisy location. Loud drunk wedding party hanging out in the alley while my friends were saying their vows in the courtyard. The bar next door had a PA system that was also distracting. –The courtyard is too small if you plan on having a larger guest list. Takes forever just to make your way through the crowd towards the bar to get a drink. –Creepy bartender. Kept on trying to charge my friends for drinks that were already paid for by the bride and groom. –Staff members were not friendly or helpful. One of the employees there got an earful from my friend because of the way she was treating the guests. Hope they took notes. –Enjoy waiting in line for a while for the limited number of restroom stalls. Worst of all They ran out of food. By the time it was my table’s turn to get a plate they had ran out of a lot of food and we were not happy. Buffet? Not really.

My good luck charm and I purchased a Groupon to dine here Friday night. I didn’t really know what to expect, as I have passed by this place several times and never entered. The venue and ambience are charming, even pristine — in a trendy, retro way. The food was phenomenal, and too much for the small amount we paid. The Caesar salad is amazing(and a meal in and of itself) with a giant parmesan crisp and toast. The mac and cheese has a lovely and sophisticated flavor with a well-developed béchamel. There is a burger with bacon, egg, and goat cheese that knows no comparison in my mind. The executive chef came out and discussed the menu with us and was very warm and inviting. We sat and listened to Lee Diamond. We danced and enjoyed cocktails prepared by a well-trained bartender who listened to my requests and executed them perfectly. Even though we were the only people in the house, we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this establishment. Thank you, Aaron. Thank you, Club D’Oro!

With a wonderful location and a fancy ambiance, this is a wonderful spot for dinner and drinks. Courtyard/Club D’Oro has a friendly and helpful staff that really hustle and make sure you are having a good meal. The bread they give you for the table is magnificent, filled with nuts and currants. The risotto is a very nice appetizer and the half chicken is very moist and hearty. If you go here on a warm evening, enjoy the large courtyard, where you can hear the music from inside easily.

I got married at Courtyard in October of 2014. What a beautiful venue. We hired Sandi as our day of coordinator. This woman is amazing. She seemed to be magically there whenever I needed her. I don’t know if they had any hiccups during the wedding and I will never know because it appeared to be completely seamless. I had my dream wedding at this venue. It is absolutely gorgeous. Friends and family have continued to tell us what a fabulous party it was. I really don’t have one negative thing to say about this place and the people running it.

Every bride is *different* and has a different vision of her wedding day… Here was mine: I wanted to do little to NO work on my day, I wasn’t worried about extravagant decorations all I wanted was a cute outside place to get married, eat, drink, and dance with 100 of my friends and family and that’s what we did! *Beautiful courtyard and reception hall *Bar *Staff for clean up/set up/serving/bar tending *Great in house caterer, Event Architects This review is long over due, we got married 9÷20÷13, my now husband and I found the venue on the internet so we decided to pop in and have a look, we didn’t have an appointment, but John and Linda, squeezed us in anyway and gave us a tour and total break down of charges after I provided a few wedding details. John and Linda provided great customer service, Linda always answered my random emails and took monthly payments.(For brides who do want an extravagant wedding, they are more than prepared for those brides too!) The courtyard is beautifully lit & reception hall is charming, perfect dancing atmosphere for my FUN& laid back wedding. Great location in old sac, lots of good photo opportunities. I am giving 4 stars for these reasons: *Parking situation, guests have to park in garage which isn’t a huge deal of you give everyone a heads up. *I wish we could have stayed longer for the amount of money we paid. you get the ceremony plus 5 hours for reception. Our Party was over at 9:30…but a few of us took a cab down town to continue the celebration.(Took all my pictures before and I enjoyed my own cocktail hour!) —John and Linda maybe you should consider giving people an extra hour with out charging them— :) Over all very accommodating wedding venue!

I didn’t realize it until I got there but this is a place we used to go to in high school and listen to the jazz bands play from the balcony. Even as a teenager I thought it was one of the most beautiful, romantic locations. So when I was looking for a wedding venue and stumbled upon this location I was pleasantly surprised. John, the manager was friendly and also was accommodating to meet us at a late hour. As for the venue itself, there is nothing special about the interior… it’s the exterior that is so magical and beautiful. I could picture myself dancing with my husband under the beautiful lights under the starry night. But here were our deal breakers: 1. There are only two toilets. I was having a wedding with 200 guests. About 25% of our guests are young children or babies. Two toilets will not cut it with that many people. 2. They charge $ 12/head for beer and wine. As stated… we have a lot of kids on our list. Of 200… only 130 were of drinking age. So to waste that kind of money on non-drinkers was just too much. 3. I also have 6 nursing mothers on my guest list. Having just finished nursing myself, I realize how important it is to have a private location set aside to either pump or nurse a baby in a calmer enviornment. There isn’t anywhere at this venue that would work except in the office or bridal room and John said that I could only do that IF I hired a seperate staff member to stand at the door the entire evening. He would not budge on this at all. 4. My guests would have to pay to park in the garage as street parking meters run until 8:30 pm and the lot next to the venue os reserved for Firehouse vallet. At $ 1.50/half hour… not my favorite. 5. If it rained, I was screwed since the whole reason we like this location is because of the outdoor courtyard. There are some wonderful things about this venue but the bad just outweighed the good. Not only this but John told us that due to our special requests(aka — large # of children) he and his brother were considering limiting the number of children allowed at the venue. Not the best customer service in my opinion.

I had my ceremony and reception at Courtyard D’Oro and the experience exceeded my expectations. I wanted my ceremony and reception to take place at the same venue. The grounds were so lush and beautiful. The lighting and architecture was picturesque. The space created the perfect backdrop, and a very intimate setting. John and Linda were exceptional! So professional and down to earth. Such a pleasure to work with them. They were accommodating and listen to all my ideas and requests. Linda(wedding coordinator) gave me me the best referrals for vendors, who also exceeded my expectations. The day went smoothly and I was able to enjoy every minute in the moment not having to worry about anything. The doors were always open to help me plan the wedding. I was so impressed with the food! The food was prepared in house and all my guests raved about it. I fully recommend Courtyard D’Oro for a wedding venue. You will work with amazing and experienced people. I wish I could do it all over again. Planning my wedding was such an exciting experience, and I thank John and Linda for that. Also, the price worked right in my budget. When I first met with John he priced a package to my liking and I was so happy that it was going to work for my husband and I. Courtyard D’Oro is located in the heart of Old Sacramento and provided all our guest an opportunity to see all that Old Sacramento has to offer. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. If you’re still looking for a venue I highly recommend meeting John and Linda, they will give you a tour and help you visualize your big day. There are plenty of albums to view to help paint a picture of what you want and give you great ideas. Thank you Courtyard D’Oro for creating my dream wedding.

I had my wedding ceremony/reception held at Courtyard D’oro on 10.20.2012. My fiancée(at the time) and i booked courtyard D’oro spring 2011. During that time the venue was going through renovation. It was nice to see its improvements every time we paid a ‘surprise’ visit. I must say within the year and a half to the big day. Courtyard D’oro definitely transformed into a very private, elegant and beautiful venue for weddings. John«mr handy man /fix it felix» — definitely put work into Courtyard D’oro to look more modern. From wooden doors to glass doors. old carpet to new carpet. a room that he extended to make another room for brides/groom to change in. Simple courtyard to a courtyard with a stage for DJs in case couples decide to have their reception outside. John also built some type of shutters/wall at the end of the courtyard to make it more private so people walking through the alley won’t interrupt/distract the wedding ceremony. Linda — the wedding coordinator was BEYOND helpful and PATIENT. i seriously do NOT know what i would have done without her. She was VERY helpful and understanding. She was willing to do whatever it took to satisfy my needs and when there was a situation that couldn’t be answered she would gladly find an alternative. She is speedy w/her email responses. Returns calls with no hesitations. She didn’t mind my indecisive moments especially about the seating arrangements and total head count, mind you I was going back and forth then sideways ANDBACK about it! like i said. she is very patient. She knows how to handle every situation in a calmly manner. The food was DEEEELICIOUS!!! I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback about the food from our guests. The stuffed mushrooms is A MUST!!! The CHICKENMARSALA too! EVERYTHING on their menu is good you can’t go wrong w/anything. Even their BREAD and butterballs were yummy. yes. THATGOOD! haha. The prices. VERY affordable. You can adjust certain things to make it work within your budget. John and Linda managed to work with me and fiancé to keep things simple and not go overboard with our desired spending. OH and they don’t have cake cutting fee! Their staff cut the cake for you in the back kitchen then bring it out on a plate and set it on the cake table for guests to grab a plate of their own. I am so glad we chose courtyard d’oro as our wedding venue and have NO regrets. Though the ONLY thing that worried me was parking– being in old town sacramento. they do have a street parking, and a nearby parking garage w/a flat fee. but then again. let your guests figure that out. LOL. Oh, one more thing. If you happen to choose Courtyard D’oro — be sure to contact Sandi Allcut(Sandi’s Design) for floral work. She is a SWEET lady who also has the same persona as John and Linda. They all work together and communicate well with each other to fulfill the bride’s(and groom’s) needs.

Need a wedding venue? look no further! My wife and I choose Court Yard D Oro as our wedding venue and we were not disappointed. Even though Court Yard D Oro is in old town Sacramento, it feels very intimate and private once inside. With all the flowers and trees and decorations, this place has a great look/feel to it. John(the owner) was great to work with and gave us a lot of flexibility. We were able to create our own custom menu(all vegetarian) and he even let us go 30 minutes over our allotted time. I got rave reviews back from our guests’ regarding the food. Even though we did all vegetarian, no one missed not having meat! The appetizers and entrees were all great! If you are looking for a wedding venue in Sacramento, I would definitely give them a look! They were also very budget friendly compared to other venues we looked at!

It’s been a week since our wedding was held at Courtyard D’Oro — all I have to say is that everyone at Courtyard was AMAZING and I was so lucky to have found this venue to have our wedding at! First of all — I love all the updates the venue has made to continue to enhance the beauty at the location. They have built a stage on the side of the courtyard for the DJ and also put up a wall along the alleyway so that non-invited guests could not peek in during the ceremony and recepition! The only words I have for this venue is gorgeous! We received nothing but compliments from our guests about how beautiful the space was, especially in the courtyard with all the beautiful trees and lights! We don’t even have our photographer pictures yet and just the photos taken by friends and family can show how spectacular the space is! The food was AMAZING — again compliments from so many guests who were shocked at how delicious the food was — specifically because that’s not usually what you get out of a wedding caterer! Event Architects prepared a beautiful meal for us! and it was beyond delicious! The only complaints that we received was that people couldn’t eat fast enough to get seconds and thirds! :) lol. I also loved how we were able to take advantage of the office/bridal suite while getting ready! The space was lovely and it fit 5 of the wedding party getting ready, 2 moms, a photographer, and a hair and makeup person — and we still had plenty of space to move around and enjoy the time we were spending together! Lastly, I have to mention Linda and John. Linda is the Wedding Coordinator and I have no idea what I would have done without her — she went above and beyond making sure that our event went smoothly and working around some major hiccups(for example, our DJ who could not follow direction or get his equipment to work). Linda made sure that everything was to my liking and kept me updated when I asked for it. I am THRILLED to have been able to work with her and would recommend her to any bride in a heartbeat! Linda has such great passion and excitement for what she does that it made me even more thrilled to be getting married! John was also a great help throughout the process, even showing up near the end of the event which was a great suprise! Linda and John were flexible with our requests and worked with us EVERY step of the way! And i know me, and I’m some what high maintenence VERY keen on being involved in every detail and they worked with me through it all. If I ever need an event space or know of someone getting married — Courtyard D’Oro will be my #1 recommendation. They were absolutely wonderful and I could not have wished for better. Linda, John and everyone at the venue made our wedding day perfect — no one noticed any hiccups(except myself which I knew I would!) and it was thanks to Linda! Thank you again!

Had our wedding at Courtyard D’Oro and everything was great. Great venue, beautiful courtyard and hall, and the food by Event Architects is really good. John the owner is a really good guy and really trys to help you have a great experience. The only tough part is parking, but that’s Old Sac for you… what you get for the money really out weighs the parking factor though.

Service: VERY thrilled that my fiancée and I just booked this place for our 2012 wedding. As a previous poster mentioned, John is incredible to work with and bent over backwards to meet with us and give us a tour. In fact, we happened to be in the area so swung in a couple of days before our meeting was scheduled and John gave us the full tour on the spot after seeing us just kind of checking things out. Stephanie also works on the event planning side and is super quick to respond to any emails and questions. I have zero concern that John and Stephanie will be able to make things happen smoothly. Prices: A HUGE sell point. We are looking to throw a great party and this place will allow us to do just that. The food prices are incredible and the beverage prices cannot be beat. The buffet price hands down beats any other I’ve seen thus far. Plus the buffet will be served by staff so grubby little hands in the food will not be a concern! All-inclusive beverage package means we can accurately budget ahead of time and have zero worries the day and evening of. We are opting for all-inclusive soda, juice, beer, wine, and well-liquor – fabulous and just what we were hoping to find. Venue itself: I really wanted an indoor/outdoor reception with a garden and white light atomsphere. This place – spot on. They even take special care to arrange things in a manner that will create a flow going inside to out so people don’t tend to «clump» in just one area.(For instance buffet will be placed outside) John also said that DJ’s can set up in the corner with equipment placed for the outside and inside so there’s no worries there. All in all – VERY excited to have my wedding here and so thrilled(and relieved!) to find such a great venue and people to work with! I will also be updating once our day comes! :)

4 Stars for the Food to Price value 3.5 stars for the quality(i had a burger and fries, whaddya want?) 4 stars for the potential of the other menu items 4 stars for the location 3 stars for the décor If the pitch-man wasn’t outside handing out fliers, I would’ve never known this place existed. Located across from the Indo Café, in Old Sacramento, Lunch on the Courtyard is located on the«courtyard level,» accessible only by stairs(or through the alley). The place was completely empty today when I arrived probably due to the fact that there was zero signage out front. The inside looks like a conference room at the Sheraton, a dim sum hall, or a small ball room; very spacious and open. Not intimate in the slightest. The Courtyard, which is the aptly-named title of the business, is the prime selling point. The fountain in the middle is accentued by the brick exterior of the buildings. There are multiple old wooden walkways running along the brick walls giving the feel of a very antiquated building. It had a very-old St. Louis or even Bostonian feel to it. There is ample seating indoors or out in the courtyard. The lunch special is what caught my attention. $ 3.95 for a hamburger and your choice of fries, cole slaw, salad, or chilli. For $ 3.95, I had to try it. The wait staff is very attentive and polite. Besides the two other customer that walked in after us, it’s probably not very difficult, but it wsas much appreciated. I think my water was filled up four times in 15 minutes, which never broke my conversation or train of thought. The food came out with some of the best grill marks i’ve seen on a burger. The lettuce, tomato, and onions were on the side, as was the sesame seed bun with thousand island. The patty looked very costco-esque but went well with the accoutrements that were provided. The fries were crisp, just crunchy enough, and seasoned very well. It was a combination of sea salt, pepper, and some other spice that i can’t put my finger on. That has to be the best burger/fries for the price ratio that i can ever remember having in a restaurant. In-N-Out and Carl’s Jr. taste better, but you have to get it to go or eat THERE. I put the value of a quiet, relaxing, atmosphere and great service at $ 3 worth of utility and the burger at $ 1. So, at $ 1 for the burger, i couldn’t be happier. The menu looked interesting: $ 6.95 chilled salmon sandwich, $ 2.95 popcorn chicken(kids), $ 8.95 D’Oro Burger: ½ lb ground beef, melted blue cheese, sliced bacon, red onion; $ 8.95 Surf and Turf burger: ½lb ground beef, fried shrimp, provolone cheese, $ 9.95 Angus New York Steak Sandwich: new york steak with Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce I will definitely be back and i will tell people about this place. But, nobody’s going to find it without signage! Come on, guys, get a sign!
