I really hate leaving a bad review, but I went to this salon and got a massage by Estevan Rodriguez. He was a nice enough person, but only go to him if you REALLY want a deep tissue massage. I went in cause I had a knot in my back and he pushed so hard that I asked him repeatedly to lighten up… which he didnt. My hands were clenched and he made me Unilocal in pain throughout, which he apparently didnt take as a sign that I was not enjoying my experience. Its been 3 days and Im still more sore than I was going in. I would only recommend him if you a) like torture or b) have the back of The Hulk :(

Do not get a shampoo, haircut, or blow dry here with Jamea. I used a Groupon deal for a haircut and blow dry with her. I have never had such a physically painful and unpleasant experience with a stylist on a service that normally costs $ 55(and at a purported Aveda Concept Salon). The hair pulling, manhandling, and borderline-rude manner aside, the haircut itself was the single worst haircut I have had in my adult life. Jamea did not bother to check with me on the length of her first snip, cut my long hair too short, didn’t ask where I wanted my hair parted, and gave me choppy lopsided layers, not in a good intentional hipster way, which I was not after. I cringed when I realized she was slashing at my hair with a razor. Her technique and execution were lacking. Another stylist and I checked the layers and lengths and found them very uneven. Save yourself the trauma of going through a bad service if you have a deal. Just let the deal expire and use the monetary value to buy some products.

Jamea cut my hair. I’m not happy with it one bit. Never have I cried for hours after a hair cut, until yesterday! I gave her a picture of what I wanted and left with something completely different. If I show a picture with layers, then give me damn layers! I look like I’m 12 because of this horrid one length hair cut. I specifically said not to go to short in the back and what did she do? Chopped my hair as short as possible. Not to mention I was there for a whopping 30 minutes, it should take longer than that to fucking shampoo, cut, and blow dry my hair. It’s safe to say she half assed it and rushed through it. And it’s all lopsided and uneven! I’m thoroughly embarrassed to have anybody see this hair cut. My money back would be great so I can go try and get this disaster fixed!

I usually never write reviews but I felt like I had to write one for them, not because they were amazing but quite the opposite. I needed to get my hair colored for a special engagement and where I usually go was busy so I looked up another Aveda salon and called them up for an appointment. I didn’t get the name of the woman who answered the phone but she gave me a same day appointment and I was more than happy to take it. Keep in mind I had to drive 45 minutes to get here because there aren’t a lot of Aveda salons around. Once I got here no one knew anything about my appointment. I sat around for about 30 mins… And then someone finally asked me who I had an appointment with. Well it turns out the hair dresser that i was appointed with, isn’t even here!!! Actually I’m sitting here writing this review while I wait for that hair dresser to show up… An hour after my appointment time! When they finally got a hold of her she asked if I’d like to reschedule or like for her to come in at 3! Well since I drove 45mins to get here and have already been waiting for 40 mins and need it done, what do you think I want to do!!! I will never come back to this place again! The level of unprofessionalism is UNREAL!!! If they’re getting away with doing business like this, the service industry is going down hill… Very quickly!!!

Dont let Jamea near you with scissors. My friend was trying to grown her hair one length told Jamea that, and she cut her hair so close to the head in the back and shaved her hair so short it took weeks to look semi okay.

While searching for my new Sacratomato salon, I found a groupon for this place for a hair-cut and blow dry. I called and was able to get an appointment for just two days later, which fit my schedule perfectly. Jamea listened to me complain about my hair and knew exactly what to do. Snip snip here, cut cut there, and voila! I turned from a scraggly ol’ pumpkin into a beautiful carriage! I’m very pleased with my new hair cut and will definitely be going back next time to see Jamea!

I’m a bit writing this review, I guess I’m still trying to get over it. This review is for Jamea. I too bought a deal for color and cut. I too came here specifically be aisle it was an Aveda salon. Before I even bought the special, I called and explained I have Ombré color, and have had it messed up more often than not. I asked if she was experienced. Jamea made methinks that she would do a good job… not! Let me say, Jamea seems like a lovely person and I really wish this had gone right. I showed her pictures of what I didn’t want, and what I did want. Well, guess what I got?! Not only was it NOT what I wanted, I had spots of blonde in the back. I got nervous during the color application process, just because of the way she was going about it, I was thinking to my self, «self, this isn’t going to be pretty!» She was also sloppy during the shampooing and coloring processes. I had streaks of color all around my forehead/ears. I had to ask for color remover and a towel, cause she didn’t seem concerned. I did call the next day, Jamea did offer to fix, but again, my hair was messed up. I ended up going back to my regular salon, where I gave them permission to make fun of my Dalmatian spots. The salon was also messy with lots of snipped hair all over the counter and stuck to the products at her station…

It was an okay experience. My hair are thinned out weird where some parts of my hair stick out. I am not completely happy with the haircut. The bangs look nice though.

Love Toni! She has been doing my bleach blonde hair for over 10 years! Toni gives the true meaning to an AVEDA stylist! You will not be disappointed! :)

I really wanted to give Katie more stars because she was very sweet, but it was a disappointing experience overall. I bought the Groupon deal listed under Katie Morgan(that is why I am assuming it was her name though it has been a while so I can’t recall for sure). I got a haircut and a color. The haircut seemed fine enough at the time, but when I straightened my hair later I noticed the ends seemed very blunt to me. I do not claim to know all that much about hair, but my regular hairstylist immediately noticed the same issue. I was also disappointed with the color after waiting a day or so, as Katie suggested, when it did not lighten up at all and ended up being quite a bit darker than I wanted. Finally, I admit it sounds petty, but I may have been most disappointed about the fact I didn’t get my ‘Aveda scalp massage’ :(Seriously though, Katie was even apologizing to another woman while doing my hair because she was upset about not getting one on her last visit. So like I said Katie was a nice gal, but there were just too many(OBVIOUS) misses to sweeten the, unfortunately, bitter experience.

I followed Toni over from Felicite a couple of years ago and should she decide to move again… say to Honolulu or such, I’d just keep on following her. She’s not only a wonderful stylist, but she’s a wonderful person. I always look forward to our appointments and trust my head completely to her care. I receive compliments on my hair daily and it’s her to thank for it. Trust me, before I started seeing Toni, my hair never received a moment’s notice, and I’ve been stopped in NYC, SF and LA by people wanting to know who did the magic.

Oh Man … I wanted to like this place so bad. :(I was looking for a non-corporate Aveda concept spot and thought I had found it in Progressive Image. My best friend used to do my hair when I lived in the Sac area before, we both relocated out of the area and now I’m back but she’s not. I was in desperate need of a haircut. I should’ve just let my scraggly locks continue growing wild! It seems like the other reviews of Jamea are hit or miss. I should’ve paid more attention to the misses. I was sold on her after another Unilocaler spoke of her spirit and with plenty of other reviews about coming here to fix a mistake from another salon I figured I’d be a-okay! WRONG. I walked out as one of those people that needs to be fixed. A friend who saw me immediately after told me it’d be better once I messed with it myself. WRONGAGAIN. First off Jamea had me wait for more than 30 mins(which honestly I had no problem with at the time because I had made a same day appointment), to pass the time she handed my iPad and insisted I look at hair styles I responded with, «Yea well I always show pics but it never seems to come out the same so I figured I’d just explain myself.» I appeased her and stared at the beautiful long waves on movie stars’ heads for at least 20 minutes and showed her the like of Sofia Vergara and Giselle. We discussed deep conditioning, hair color and layers before I decided on a conditioning treatment before she got to work. While my hair wasn’t ever confused for Sofia’s before it was definitely more on par 2 days ago than it is now. Even my mother who cuts her own hair with a hatchet had unkind things to say about the uneven, awkward, choppy catastrophe that has come of the hair on my head. :(I graduate in a month and will be in a wedding soon so hopefully it grows … fast! Jamea does have a lovely spirit and has a way with a paddle brush like no other! Thank goodness I got a new customer discount or else I may have had to march in there and ask for a refund. Sad day!

The owner of the salon, Jamea provided mediocre service at best. She was 30 minutes late, never apologized other than making a remark that she is «tardy». The haircut I got was ok, however the color is not any better than what I could have done at home. I asked to get an all over brown, to minimize the red, and my hair is still reddish brown — hardly any change. I got a sense that she is generally not a bad stylist, but seemed a bit tired of her job. The whole experience was just OK.

I was given a groupon for a brazilian wax at Progressive Image. I had kind of a hard time finding the salon because it looked so plain on the outside. But once I stepped in the place was really nice and relaxing. It was my first time getting that kind of waxing but Erica the esthetician made me feel comfortable. Everything was clean and beautiful. The music was relaxing(being that I’m a DJ I know what good music is ;)) And the service she provided was good, she seemed pro and really knew what she was doing. After paying, I received a 20% off discount for my next visit, which was a thoughtful endeavor. I’ll most likely be back. Thumbs up!

I’m sincerely grateful to the proprietor, Jamea, for allowing me to use my Unilocal deal here quite recently. Though the terms of the deal were at first a bit elusive in its language(now rectified), I am still so thankful for her graciousness in honoring my trip out to her salon. Though I did not receive any salon services, I can attest to the kindness of the nice owner, and say too that there is a great inventory of Aveda here. Located in a stellar block of real estate, on the east end(along a One-WAY). Aesthetically, her salon is smaller in size, and judging only from a glance, is a tad dated.

I found PIS on Unilocal.Had a terrible cut the day before and searched for a good stylist to save me. PIS had a review posted by someone who sounded just like me! «Bad hair cut, desperate to find a fix.» My cut the day before was too short and no style. I didn’t think it could be fixed. Jannea worked wonders, she listened to me first about I was looking for: shape, style, stylish, sassy, sexy and voila! Done! I left looking and feeling like a new woman! I have never written a review before for anything but I had to let everyone out there know that this is the place!!! I will be a regular from now on. Thank you Unilocal and the Unilocal community!

I had a terrible experience with Jaima. I had my hair cut and colored. The color was hideous– I’m dark skinned and she lightened my hair to a point where it damaged my hair. I left the salon not satisfied with my color so I decided to give her a call back. She was very unaccomodating to my concerns and my desire to fix my color. When I’ve had problems in the past, my stylists have gone out of their way to fix my hair. Jaima was rude and had terrible customer service. When she finally agreed to take me in, she tried to convince me that my hair color looked fine and implied my distress was due to insecurities I had over my appearance. Not cool. In any case, she did a terrible job«fixing» my hair. Stylists after have commented on how poor of a color job I had– which is really embarassing. Overall, I suggest you go elsewhere. Find a salon that values your business and that strives to create an image you desire. If you want a great colorist– make a trip to Seattle and see Jessica at Caruh Salon(also uses Aveda). She really knows the products and is the best colorist I’ve had.

Toni Amen has been doing my hair for 6 years! Love her and love the Aveda hair color!!! This is more about the stylists, since I’m loyal to Toni, not the salon itself. They do walk ins, but it’s better if you make an appointment because they’re not always available for a walk in. Park on the opposite side of the street if you’re getting color or anticipate a longer appointment, as that side has 10 hour parking($ 1.00/hour) and the side the salon is on only has 2 hour parking. Music is easy listening, always good tunes. I’ve known Toni and Sarah since they were at Felicite. I’m not really familiar with the other stylists here, but Toni and Sarah are great, very friendly, very professional. Toni has always done my hair but I’ve seen the hair Sarah does as she’s always there at the same time, she does a great job too.
