Came here on a Saturday with the DH. The service was fast, friendly, and the sandwiches have generous portions of meat. The thing I liked the most was they thinly slice the red onion so it isn’t overpowering. I don’t live close but if I am in the area again I will definitely return. It reminds me of my favorite deli back home in Michigan.

I’m giving this 5 stars for the combination of customer service(6 stars) and quality of food to price ratio(4.5 stars). This deli is pretty similar to Mr. pickles– but I’m not complaining about that because I love mr pickles. I ordered a #1(turkey and bacon) on wheat roll– the roll was very soft and and sandwich as a whole was pretty good. I would have liked to have more of the garlic sauce they use as I didn’t really taste that over the mustard. The cookies-omg the cookies– were so delicious! It was 1:15pm and they were still soft and hot! What really blew me away was the customer service. We just moved here two days ago and found this place because it’s within walking distance of our new house. The guy who rung us up had asked how my day was and I told him we were in the process of moving here(in the middle of 100 degree Sacramento weather– yay!) He asked me how many movers I have helping me(it was just my husband today) and he gave us extra cookies(5 total!!) and two waters to keep us hydrated. The waters didn’t even make it home, we drank them so fast. We will definitely be back and will make this part of our weekend walks with the dog to stop and get lunch! Looking forward to being a regular at this place :)

Very good sandwiches. The proportions are huge! However, the place can get a little sweeping, dusting from time to time.

I will not be returning to Dugout after the horrible customer service I received today. I called in a takeout order for me and my co-workers at 11:20 am and asked to pick it up at 12:10 pm and the said that would be fine. When I arrived the woman at the counter said it wasn’t ready yet and to have a seat. I waited for 15 minutes until asking about the status of my order. The woman went to check only to inform me that they hadn’t started my order yet. While I was waiting they help at least 10 walk-in customers, and the woman didn’t even apologize. She just said I could have free drinks with my order, which I hadn’t ordered and didn’t need. It took them another 15 minutes to make my order and to top it off the forgot to includes the cookies with the order.

Great local sandwich spot in the Arden-arcade area! Sorry no pictures. The sandwich was that good it didn’t make it to the photo shoot. I had a chicken sandwich and my boyfriend had a pastrami sandwich that were equally delicious. Their Dutch crunch bread is super crunchy and very good. The customer service is always on point. I recommend this to anyone who is in need of a fast, well made, reasonably priced, and altogether great sandwich. BONUS-Free cookie with each meal! Love you guys! Thanks! See you next time!

I can appreciate a non-chain Deli, but I have to say that I’ve been here twice now and I just kind of feel like the sandwiches are a little overpriced. It cost about $ 20 for two people to get a sandwich and chips here. The sandwiches are fine and they tasted good, I like the options that they have but I just think that they’re a little overpriced for what they are. I would say to check it out if you’re in the area there’s a lot of baseball memorabilia here for you to look at, and I gave three stars because the food was good, but again they’re overpriced. As a sidenote they do give free cookies!

I get the turkey and avocado sandwich on sourdough. The ingredients are fresh, the bread is warm. sometimes I add bacon to it which is super delicious. Nothing beats the warm cookie at the end! Any place that gives out a free cookie is worth a try! You will not be disappointed!

Friendly staff and great sandwiches. They bake their bread in-house. I recommend the Dutch crunch, even though it gives you a bit of «Captain Crunch mouth». They slip a chocolate chip cookie in the bag with your sandwich too, and they’re fantastic! We take the trip down Fulton(from Fair Oaks) to them. Definitely recommended!

Dugout delivers to my office a few miles away, so it’s very convenient. The sandwiches are fantastic and lately I’ve been trying the salads and they are great as well. Very large salads, can’t eat it in one sitting. Delicious homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing. My favorite sandwich is the pastrami and it comes stacked with it! By the way, each sandwich/salad order comes with a tasty fresh homemade chocolate chip cookie! Nice extra little touch. Visit Dugout, great eats at great prices.

Sandwich was average. There were flies all in the restaurant, which kind of grossed me out. I will probably stick with Sandwich Spot next time.

Stumbled upon this place when I needed to get work done on my car next door. and I’m so glad I did! Such happy faces and homey feel as soon as you walk in. The tri tip salad was great and everything is Giants which is another plus! Get family feel here which is hard to find anymore. Cant wait to come back :)

This is a wonderful alternative to chain sandwich places. There are plenty of sandwich options and the service is prompt even with a line. The portions are huge and I often find myself making two meals of one order which is great given how reasonable their prices are. The only drawback is their hours are pretty limited which means those of us who work late and want a sandwich for dinner cannot support this excellent small business as often.

A LOT of sandwiches options, and think that it’s pretty cool that it’s all baseball/sports themed. After studying the menu, I wanted to get the #5 «The Dugout» — Chicken, bacon, avocado & jack… but the girl behind the counter broke the news to me, they were out of avocados for the day :( I ordered the #24 «Sey Hey Kid» — Pastrami & Swiss for those unfamiliar with the menu on a dutch crunch roll. I got mustard and the garlic sauce on it. Wasn’t too impressed with this particular sandwich. The first half was good, but the garlic sauce was overpowering and made my 2nd half’s bread too soggy. Also, they throw in a fresh cookie with every sandwich. Pretty cool! Wouldn’t mind coming back, but wouldn’t get the same sandwich…

I have been looking for a yummy neighborhood sandwich spot that isn’t your run-of-the-mill Panera or sub-standard Subway and I think I may have found it. Although it does seems very much like the Mr. Pickles that just left this same business location– it has a cool baseball theme reflected throughout the little space. They give free cookies with every sandwich order and my chips and soda plus the sandwich was beyond filling. I am happy to find a place in which I only have to eat half of my food to feel full. I love bread and these rolls satiate that need, and then some. Now I have half of a sandwich to nibble on later while working! Yay! **Bonus: Make sure to get the garlic sauce! ** Next time I think I’ll try their triple decker blt with cream cheese or their turkey and cranberry with cream cheese on their epic sourdough! Mmmmm! Also, check out the beverages and the chip selection — this place has an EXCELLENTASSORTMENTQUALITYANDVARIETY

I always get a #24, sometimes the 26, which are amazing but our sandwich maker was super friendly and made sure not to make it in a hurry. She was personable and accommodating and we left her a good tip. Good food, good service. dugout is a great place to eat!

Stumbled on this place on accident after forgetting to pack a lunch for work today. They are right around the corner and I wanted something quick but not fast food. I went in and was immediately greeted by the very nice girl working the counter. I also noticed the owner brining and seasoning what looked like pastrami or roast beef which I guess they make in house so I knew it was gonna be good. I got a turkey on Dutch crunch and was extremely happy when I bit in and tasted it was fresh, flaky and crunchy as it should be(I am a baker for a living) unlike you get at a grocery store deli or something. She even gave me a cookie she literally pulled out of the oven seconds before I left. Great food and service, and I may start purposely forgetting my lunch more often now!

Been a strong supporter of this place even after the name change from Mr. Pickles. Definitely taking a break. The staffs are very friendly, fresh bread, fresh veggies… Oh and they give you a free cookie. I just don’t understand why my order always misses something, if it’s not the avocado I paid extra for its something… Mayo, mustard, or something as simple as providing me an itemize receipt for work expenses.

Located in Arden area off of Cottage and Fulton in a kind of eh strip plaza. We easily found the Dugout deli due to the sandwich board out at the curb(no pun intended). I came all the way across town because of my fellow Unilocalers, and I don’t know if I would come back unless I was in the area. The décor is filled with baseball memorabilia and metal signs as well as a tall counter and menu boards. I ordered a turkey and Swiss as my usual lol. which I split with my brother because I wasn’t too hungry. I was extremely bummed out that nothing was prepared there besides I think cookies. Potato, Mac salad and pasta salads all are store bought. The bread too, but that’s usual. The bread was just a regular roll, nothing fancy, kind of stiff. Overall, nothing stood out about this place. They don’t have fountain drinks, only canned soda. I don’t really think my $ 8 sandwich was worth it. I would rather pay two bucks more and go to Beach Hut Deli.

Husband wanted to test drive cars(again), how boring. I decided this was a good opportunity to try a new place for lunch. We split a pastrami sandwich on sourdough. The service was friendly and quick. The preparer asked us about each and all options. They separated the sandwich for us into two trays and gave us each a cookie. While not a lot of pastrami. the sandwich was delicious. The garlic spread was very tasty.

This place used to be Mr. Pickles and now it’s dugout Deli. It is better than Mr Pickles for several reasons including better service, better selection, and better dutch crunch bread! It now feels like a family style atmosphere and is a great spot to go with friends/employees on the lunch break. To top it off, anyone who is a baseball fan will love this place! Sandwich names include the Buster, The Ryan, the Hot Corner. Even if you’re not a baseball fan, the service and sandwiches will delight! Side Note: Be prepared to take home half, the sando’s are pretty big!

Generally a dugout is a place where baseball players, managers, and coaches occupy what type of action is taking place on the field. However, in this case, this dugout is occupied by hungry customers, friendly employees, and some action-packed all-star sandwiches. And hailing from Sacramento, CA is the«Dugout Deli»! Located in the Arden-Arcade neighborhood in a small strip mall on Cottage Way, «Dugout Deli» has been pitching out some home run sandwiches since 2012. And for those of you that remember, this was once the site of where«Mr. Pickles» once stood. Not much has changed except for some tweaking on the interior. In fact, when you walk inside, they offer a generous amount of sports memorabilia pertaining to. .you guessed it, baseball. Even the small TV set was showing a baseball game, now that’s what I call dedicated! Now as you all know, I’m a sucker for a good sandwich and most of the places I frequent are in Midtown Sacramento. But surprisingly, you will find some good places off the beaten path and this place is definitely one of them. I come here with my lovely lady, Claudia H. on a cool Saturday afternoon in late-April. As our tummies are growling, seeing the Unilocal photos of this place were more than enough reason for us to check this place out. For a sandwich shop, they offer fairly standard hours as they’re open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, Saturday from 9am-5pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Additionally, they offer FREE(local) delivery with an order of 5 sandwiches or more. As I look at the menu on the board, «Dugout Deli» offers quite a diverse selection of sandwiches. Everything that includes turkey, ham, roast beef, veggie, pastrami, and much, much more. And given the name of their business, every sandwich is named after something pertaining to baseball; i.e., «Gold Glove», «Fielders Choice», «Double Header», well you get the picture. As we both already have an idea what we want, we keep our order simple by ordering a turkey and avocado on a Dutch crunch roll. We also ask for cheddar cheese and everything on it(minus the pepperoncinis). The service here was very quick, attentive, and helpful as one employee took our order while the other employee rung us up. Since the size and portions of this sandwich were fairly generous, we decided to split it. Total price = $ 6.49(including tax). We take our sandwich to go and decide on picnicking at nearby«Howe Park» which is literally about 2 blocks away. As we arrive at the park, our sandwiches are marked«HIS» and«HERS», respectively. I loved this little idea as they truly put some creativity into this. And as an extra bonus, the employees also included two warm(his and hers) chocolate chip cookies for both of us to enjoy! It’s little things like this that I truly enjoy, especially in a small business such as «Dugout Deli». As we both unwrap the parchment paper these sandwiches are wrapped in, everything tasted perfect. The bread was crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. There was a generous amount of avocados and they definitely didn’t skimp on the turkey slices. I thoroughly devoured my sandwich is less than 10 minutes as this place was quite the surprise that I didn’t expect. So if you’re looking to venture somewhere different and are on the hunt for a sandwich that will give you two winning thumbs up, then«Dugout Deli» just might be what you’re looking for! It hit a grand slam in my book!
