This little boutique, featuring several different vendors, was recommended by my cousin, who found them on Facebook. We stopped in and were welcomed before the official opening hour(we were 15 minutes early and some of the staff were all ready to go), striking up a conversation with the front desk man, Dan, and found that he had visited my hometown not too long ago. Small world. Anyway, the store is a mashup of several different vendors, some local artists, clothing that ranged from Saks to handmade tops; high fashion gowns to scarves and accessories, some sports memorabilia, candles, jewelry, sandals and wedding consultants, with a large bike store in the back of the shop. Vendors include alli and né, The Bike Closet, East Sac Sports and Gifts, Gigi Boutique, Petite Marie, Rire Boutique, Sandal Bar and Wedding Possibilities. I would have liked to see more variety; larger displays from local artists(items were small), possibly more organic and handmade soaps or lotions, or a kitchen/cooking items. There is room for growth, so I will definitely visit the next time I’m in the area. Hours are 11 am — 6 pm Tuesday through Friday, 10 – 6 Sat, 12 – 5 pm Sun. Closed Monday.

I could easily end up spending too much in here. There are sections of different local sellers and there are soo many cool and pretty and unique items in here that I have not seen. I adore little boutique shops and whenever I can I love buying from local folks. There were yummy bath products, clothes for all sizes, and lots of pretty trinkets. Can’t name everything you’ll have to check it out.

This review is really for Rire, the best hidden boutique shop in Sacramento. Josie is super sweet, very helpful and extremely patient. Plus she carries amazing accessories you wont find anywhere else and great clothes at affordable prices. I recently purchased a dress and when I went to try it on she pulled a smaller size for me and it fit better than the one I had pulled. She also helped me find the perfect belt to go with it. The mercantile is a great shop with a lot of petite shops inside. They host different events and always seem to having something going on during the holidays. Most recently they had a mimosa and cookie bar set up for patrons for mother’s day. Really nice small touch that you wont find in department stores. My only complaint is that the store seems to have a lot of high turnover. There used to a florist who sold beautiful bouquets but she closed down. Several clothing and accessory stores have also closed and been replaced. I really hope Rire continues to stay in Sacramento, we need more shops like hers.

I love this little mercantile! I come here whenever I need a gift or a knickknack or just something cute. Rire is my favorite to shop in and I’ve purchased multiple gifts here(some gold heart earrings for a friend as well as a wonderfully comfortable sweater for the mother that I wish I had kept for myself). These shop-owners are all wonderful to talk to! Great customer service, great prices and there’s even a book exchange in the back!
