Rude! Unethical? I left a message requesting an estimated cost for parts and labor to replace a furnace blower motor and capacitor. KC returned my call one to two hours later. He wanted to schedule an appointment, I requested an estimate. He stated he would provide one on-site. I, again, requested an estimate and asked what additional information he needed. He refused to provide an estimate. What is interesting is he never asked a single exploratory question. On my fourth attempt to obtain an estimated, I stated I know the approximate retail cost of the parts, can he please provide me an estimate. His response is if I wanted repairs completed this weekend, parts would cost double for *third party* will double the cost to him to open outside of their business hours and if I knew so much«then do the repairs yourself.» I was polite and professional at all times if feeling a bit exasperated – it is possible I may have leaked a bit, but I don’t believe that was the case. I thanked him stated«you are probably right and that is an excellent idea. I will fix the furnace myself» and I wished him a good night. His response was a snide«goodbye» and to hang up. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for services. My solution was to call Culver Armature and Motor for quality American manufactured parts and do the repair for myself at $ 117 including sales tax. Yes, it probably took me two to three times longer then it would for KC, but I refuse to give my money to a rude and questionable service provider. Beside, I am confident I could do the repair myself a second time in under an hour. An invaluable experience and skill to acquire.
