El Forastero

Best mexican place in town and they are open ²⁴⁄₇! Usually order the carne asada fries and a California burrito. You can never go wrong with that order. The carne asada fries is well worth it. They top it off with plenty of steak with fresh fries underneath. The burrito was flavorful and filling. They chip and salsa also made the carne asada fries taste even better. Will definitely continue to eat here.

I decided to embark on a midnight food run last night for a quick study break and choose to visit El Forastero as I had been eyeing it for some time. Something about 24hour Mexican food really interest me as I am a fan of both good Mexican food and convenient hours. From my experiences at other local Mexican taquerias I have to say that El Forastero’s food prices are all pretty reasonable. Going through the drive through at that time of night I wasn’t sure what type of customer service I would recieve but we were greeted and helped by a very polite worker. As for the food, I ended up ordering their carne asada fries and I have to admit I have had better carne asada fries here in the area, but considering that these were prepared at 12am and had huge portion sizes, they were still a 10 in my eyes. Looking forward to trying more things out from their menu.

YES! Coming from Salinas I’ve been looking for a Mexican joint that reminds me of home. This place has everything you need. Lots of tasty choices of meat, real tortillas, burritos are big, inexpensive, open 24 AND drive thru, and they give you salsa with REAL heat if you ask for it… they don’t skimp on the amount either! The people working are helpful and quick. Atmosphere is exactly what I want in a legit Mexican food spot! So glad I found this place.

Definitely will be coming by again. Their burritos tasted like heaven! I ordered the asada burrito with carnitas as well. They prepared so quickly and I enjoyed it whole-​fully. They are super nice up front, and it seems every customer that comes by is a regular.

I ordered:

The meat was tender and seasoned good
Plenty of good cheese and guacamole
I would definitely order this again and recommend
I also wanted 1 enchilada but the order calls for 2.
So I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas
The chicken was real tender and seasoned good, their chicken is really tasty but I did NOT care for their red enchilada sauce, i just didn’t like its flavor or texture. And the tortilla was soggy and falling apart shortly after I got it. So I definitely wouldn’t get anymore enchiladas but it’s worth a try, you might like it.
Their red and green salsas were good too.
I liked their drive through service but they charge 45 cents just to use my debit card. That’s always annoying.
So I had to give 3 stars for the soggy enchiladas with the weird sauce and making me have to pay for 2 when I only wanted 1, and then charging me 45 cents to use my card.

Everything is amazing but I was just there and this is the 3^rd time I’ve gotten the wrong order. I ordered a chimichanga and drove away with 3 tacos… :(one could say it’s my fault for not checking my order but that is their job. Amazing food, just make sure you get what you actually wanted, trust me, it ruins your meal.

First thing that hit us was the humidity and lack of ventilation, hard to breathe. All but one table was dirty, my 6 year old pointed that out to me btw. We finally ordered, cashier was very nice, great customer service.
Food was ok, i was very disappointed that my taco meat was not drained of «what ever» I could not eat my taco faster than the bottoms fell out from the sogginess. Finally find one of these places that actually have ground beef and its not what I expected

Yummmm! I will never go to Albertos again! Delicious! Love their chicken tacos, pozole, and enchiladas. We add la crema to it all!

I love their food and their portions are great for their prices. Two people can eat a burrito and have a full belly.

Awesome spot to get some quick but authentic Mexican food. They have several locations and each one hits the spot every time!

This is a quick-​bite place with tasty food and friendly service. If you’re hungover or looking for a feel-​good/​stuffed breakfast, get a breakfast burrito. They’re huge and mega tasty.
Their chicken tacos are crispy and delicious. They loaded up on the chicken with mine, it was great!
You may think their combos can be kinda pricey for a drive-​thru, but you get SO MUCH FOOD. I got the chile verde (so yum!!!) and it came with rice beans, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and tortillas! I was not expecting so much food! Totally worth the price and it was absolutely delicious.
Keep up the good food, El Forastero!

1) Terrible quality of ingredients (especially the beans and guac)
2) Lackluster service– the cashier was in the back on her phone rather than assisting customers. Chips bar was depleted as well with no urge by the employees to refill
3) Cost — slightly overpriced. Paid $ 9 for a burrito and they have additional charges for using cards.

Best Mexican fast food I have ever had! Everything is delicious and the prices are awesome! I am addicted to this place! 24 drive-​thru is the best!

Dine in closes at 11pm. Unilocal indicated that it was 24 hours, so we decided to came here to eat. It was near 11 when the rest of our company arrived. We had been traveling for half a day and just need a place to stop and have food. Since we did not know that dine in closes at 11 before they ordered, the rest of our company had to eat outside in the cold.

Wanted some Mexican food. but I don’t care to much for aldabertos (sp) their food has no real flavor just salty to me. So we decided to try this place for our late night hankering. One word! BOMB. and Jose was cool, friendly and patient. it was our first time here… salsa is on point and the Pico is awesome definitely coming back! xoxo

Love coming here for their Jamaica Flower Tea! Their rolled tacos are delicious too. Can’t forget their Sunday special $ 1.25 tacos. Definitely can’t beat that!

Went at 10pm Saturday night. I got the Super Carnitas and Super Carne Asada burritos. They were soooo good! Me and hubby ate them both. They were HUGE in size but had tons if flavor. The Carnitas was more juicer then the carne asada. I would order both again.

Maybe I didn’t order the right food, but not impressed with the nachos or bean burritos. It left me in a bad mood, which fast food usually does. I guess I should switch up my diet a little bit, I’ve been trying but lately nothing seems to cut it. I’ve had this problem since I was a kid, my parents really didn’t introduce me to too many good foods and just kind of made the same meals every night. So it just left me in the dust when it comes to varieties of meals and such. I mainly just stick to the same foods over and over again, which is unfortunate. Especially now that I’m working my new job, which I usually don’t get off until midnight. Then there I am, resorting to fast food again cause I’m too tired and lazy to make myself something! I really want to try new things, but I’m just so picky and it really brings me down. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed in new foods that I’ve tried, it’s ridiculous. I bought this cook book with the hopes of starting a new diet, but lately I stick to the original stuff. I don’t know. I am trying to be a vegetarian, which is making me feel better as the days go on. It’s been a year since I’ve even had a cheeseburger believe it or not! It’s been a long journey I’ll tell you that much. But one things for sure, I can’t go on my whole life eating fast foods three times a week. People with poor diets and no exercise only end up worsening their depression. It’s true, I read that somewhere. Have a great Christmas!

Don’t get me wrong El Forestero can be amazingly good! But lately it’s been so gross ! Seems like they rush to make your order. I got a breakfast burrito and the bacon wasn’t cooked all the way it was chewy and fatty. My super nachos were cold and soggy but I had just bought them so it made no sense for them to already be cold. My churro had no sugar or cinnamon on it !! They just gave me a plain nasty churro ! And when I was waiving down the lady at the drive thru window to get her attention she glanced at me, we made eye contact and she ignored me and I waited 10 minutes at the drive thru for her to finally acknowledge me. And she was rude like it was my fault she got my order wrong lol. But I mean 1 out of 3 times i get el Forestero its decent. My favorite spot is going down hill do to customer service.

So I bought a super burrito that includes guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo. They took my money and didn’t give me ANY of that. Very unfaithful and dishonest.

Got a burrito and a taco after the club. The most flavorless nastiest mexican food I have ever tasted. Definitely NOT worth the price. What a major upset. Don’t waste you time and money here.

Close your eyes and point randomly at anything on the menu and (as long as you’re not a picky eater) whatever you get will. be. bomb. No, seriously. Bomb. Top faves are the breakfast burritos, hard shell tacos, and quesadillas.
On top of the amazing food the staff here is freaking stellar! Any time of day: 7am when your day’s starting, 8pm when your night’s starting, even 4am when your night’s ending (visits around this time happen more often than I like to admit) you’ll get awesome service that’s always on point.
I really can’t recommend these guys enough. And if you haven’t been yet, you’re really missing out.

I was visiting Sacramento for the Aftershock music festival and was a little bummed when only Taco Bell, McDonald’s and a few other fast food places were open — until I found this place.
At El Forestero the service was super quick and friendly, the food was cooked fresh and was nothing short of delicious, all at 2 AM in the middle of the night. Thanks to those who work there and keep the place running.

One of my favorite Mexican food places any time of day. Order the breakfast nachos or the menudo on the weekends Screw taco Tuesday they got $ 0.99 tacos on Sunday and they ain’t minis either.

I am giving only the food 4 stars. The service gets 2 stars for being friendly. They are sooo slow though. I have actually only been inside this place 1 time. All other times I go through the drive-​thru. I come here because it’s right down the street from my office complex. I have tried the tacos, enchiladas and burritos and all are yummy. I don’t come here often though because I don’t enjoy sitting in a drive-​thru for such a long time that people turn off their engines for the wait. Today was bad because I was sitting at the order board for at least 5 minutes before anyone helped me and I was yelling for help. I don’t know if they heard me and just ignored me or what. Sheesh… because the food is good though, I’ll probably torture myself with another wait in a few weeks.

I’ve been to Mexican restaurants al over Sacramento, I only ever eat their burritos and sometimes tacos. This place is clean, friendly, and has a very tasty carnitas burrito. Will recommend. This is in my opinion out of all the places I’ve been to, the one with the best tasting burrito !

Dropped by this place on my lunch as I have been craving enchiladas for a while. Saw the place and from the outside it looked clean so decided to give it a try. Inside the place was okay but not too comforting to eat in so I decided for take out. The service was cool and the chip and salsa bar was acceptable. No free chips and salsa, you have to buy a minimum amount in order to get chips and salsa. The food was prepared quickly and it was hot. The only reasons for 3 starts is the taste of the food, it was pretty bland and everything tastes the same including the salad. Don’t get me wrong, the portions are big but the flavor is weak. Come through if your looking for a quick fill up but done expect much in terms of satisfying the taste buds.

All I have to say is, the best drunk food ever! Resonant priced, open 24 hrs and good but not good for you, lol. I went here many time in college. Ohhhh the memories!

Usually I’m a happy camper here, TODAY, not so much! Soooo I can’t order the chile verde with chicken, they don’t make it that way, YET IVE HAD IT 3x. The usual worker isn’t here so I’m SCREWED WITH getting enchiladas so I have to get messy and rip off the tortillas. Yuck. PS I drive extra for this spot, have to rethink my options. I KNOW IT DOESNT cook in green sauce just cooked normally BUT CMON NOW just plop the chicken I my plate and gimme some chile verde on too, IM SAVING YOUR TORTILLAS PEOPLE! Pictures to come… Smh ps.
