My husband and I went in close to closing time, but we knew what to get, got it and then left. One of the employees noticed and said we didn’t have to rush and had time to look around. We appreciated the gesture but knew they were closing soon and there wasn’t any reason for us to stay longer. Still, he was very polite to us. However another employee openly expressed how unhappy he was when we walked in. Complaining like a child he said things such as «why does everyone always come in right before we close» and«we’re gonna be in late tonight». This was heard by all the customers in the store. It was completely unprofessional and rude. It’s tough when you’re faced with two employees with two different approaches to customer service. Hopefully next time is better.

Great GameStop with friendly, knowledgeable employees and a good game selection. They greet everyone who walks in, explain specials and are very helpful. One guy even recognized my husband, who uses this location as his go-to spot for trading in games and buying used. On our last visit, my husband picked out a brand-new game because he couldn’t find a used copy, and when we went to check out, Angela asked if he’d like it used and found a copy from behind the counter, saving us money.

I only come to this location when buying a game now. Employees always seem happy to be at work and to talk to customers about upcoming games. Very helpful and informative if you had any questions on anything too. :)

Great store! Always a good conversation with the employees at this location. And they KNOW what they are talking about. They always do a great job selling add-ons when you make a purchase.

Most Gamestops you go into are filled with friendly staff who go out of their way to help. My experiences in Rancho Cordova and Folsom(Kevin and Matt) have been nothing but exceptional. However, my recent experience at the Garfield store suggests that some employees do not have the same standards. I was able to determine that a game bundle was available at this store; when Kevin at Folsom called, he was greeted by a very rude employee named Brad, who proceeded to tell him that the bundle was ‘unavailable.’ I was advised to visit the store in person to secure the bundle, and encouraged to call the district manager if Garfield decided play hardball. When I arrived, I spoke with Brad, who refused to sell me the bundle. I was told that the item was being held for ‘someone else’ and that it couldn’t be sold to me. I told him that I knew of the store’s 24 hour hold policy, and would return the next day. At that time, Brad told me that it would not be available tomorrow either and refused to sell me the item. I quickly asked for the district manager(Joel) and was able to reach him right away(on a Saturday no less!) — Joel provided excellent customer service and soon informed me that I could buy the item. The story doesn’t end there! When I returned to the store, Brad was in the middle of answering a phone call, in which he bad-mouthed Joel! «I just got a nasty phone call from Joel. I have to sell it.» At that point, he proceeded to question me on which store had ‘helped me.’ I told him that the questioning was totally inappropriate and to finish the sale, which luckily he did. I don’t think I’ve ever received such poor service from a Gamestop employee. I’ve heard horror stories of some employees hiding items for either resale or to benefit their own home collection. I’ve heard stories of employees treating their customers like they have better things to do. Brad seems like the perfect encapsulation of all these undesirable traits. I don’t know why he felt the need to treat Kevin at Folsom or me with such unprofessionalism, and I’m not really sure it matters. I’m sure the Garfield store has excellent employees, but Brad is not one of them. So long as he works there, I encourage everyone to boycott that store. If I could give this store 0 stars I would.
