Golden 1 Credit Union

This location is always under staffed at the busiest times. And the workers are old ladies that don’t care about customer service. Overall experience at this location has been poor. It’s a shame because it’s the closest one to my house, but it’s worth a farther drive to get away from this one.

Ayyyooo, it’s a Golden1 that state workers can populate during lunch. The walk in hours are pretty whack, but there are a couple other Golden1s and tons of ATMs within 2 miles. I go to this ATM to grab cash before going to the farmers market or cash only bars in the area. Thanks for timely direct deposit. Peace.

if I can give negative stars, I would. called this place a week ago to confirm if non members can purchase a cashier’s check. the lady on the phone said yes as long as you bring cash and there will be a $ 5 charge. went in today to purchase one and they said only members can purchase them. I called another golden1 to confirm if this is true, and initially, the person on the phone said yes, I can purchase one as a non-​member. I asked them to verify because I was denied at this location and after consulting with the supervisor, he/​she said it was indeed true that non-​members can not purchase cashier’s check. seems like no one at these golden 1 banks knows what the rules are. they will toss you around. now imagine trusting them with your money or trusting their word when they tell you there isn’t any charges but get screwed by a surprised fee.

I have my mortgage with them and they have literally no relationship with their servicer Doevenmuel (sp?) — only after 10 years can I make my payment through my online banking — but it won’t post for a week, so it’s really like paying any other vendor. Then i paid a few dollars short on my mortgage and when I went to pay the balance of $ 39 they told me I had to pay the entire $$ 2139 because the system wouldn’t recognize the $ 2100 that had already been paid. Nobody could figure out how to fix it. Wow — Epic Fail

They’re usually very friendly at this branch. I can get busy at times when the government folks coming to cash their checks. So my advice, is to try to avoid those days. There is free parking in front for a couple of the stalls. And they’re close to pretty much everything in Midtown.

No, Golden 1 will never be my primary bank. I opened an account at golden 1 because it’s in a convenient location where I can easily make deposits for travel reimbursement checks or other miscellaneous payments, but I would never in a million years having it as my primary bank. On my last visit, the teller while looking at my accounts, asked me if the deposit would be for my checking. I don’t even have a checking with golden 1, I have a savings and a money market. Good grief.
Let hope she didn’t screw up my deposit and put it in someone else’s checking account.

So my rent check was due today… thought I would go to the most convenient, closet Golden 1 to my house. Oh wait, turns out this ATM does not stalk their deposit enveloIpes. There are 6 different envelope slots here that hold deposit envelops, yet not a SINGLE envelope was there at 2pm today when I desperately needed one. I had to walk more tha 10 block

Won’t give change unless you are a member. Avoid this place.
I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. I recently used their ATM to withdraw money from an account at another institution as they are a member of the Co-​Op network of ATMs. Thus there would be no service fee to use their ATM. I needed quarters so I proceeded to walk into this ‘credit union’ to ask for 2 rolls of quarters for my $ 20. I was informed that they WOULD NOT give me change UNLESS I WAS MEMBER. I kid you not. I could not even get change unless I was a member.
I had previously considered obtaining an account with them but after this ‘service’ or rather lack thereof, I will NEVER give my business to Golden 1. EVER.
Take your business elsewhere.

This has to be one of my favorite branches in Sacramento. I use to live in Elk Grove, so I use to go to the Elk Grove branch on Elk Grove blvd. (in the Walmart shopping area). They were nice & took care of whatever I needed, but any time I was in the Sacramento area I would make the time to take care of my financial needs here at this hidden gem. They just don’t take care of what you need and be done w/​it, they actually are super personable. I don’t know how it happens, but I seem to get into fun conversations w/​anyone I come in contact w/​. They are hard workers & über sweet. I’m so happy it’s just a few blocks away from me!

Golden 1 isn’t my primary bank, and I’m glad. The ladies behind the counter are nice enough and helpful, but on each visit I am plagued by one of the two following nuisances:
Sunglasses: Don’t try coming near here on a sunny day, and if you do leave your shades in the car. Three times now I have been asked to take my glasses off — twice before I even made it to the counter and within seconds of entering the door. I’m coming out of sunlight, people, so let’s relax here. It’s interesting that on any of these occasions, the security guard out front was not the one to make this request. I understand you don’t want me wearing sunglasses so I don’t look like a criminal, but can I not be treated like one before I step up to the counter?
Constant questions about a checking account: I have one, but not here. Nor do I intend to get one here. I understand it’s free. I don’t want one. Can you please make a note on your list not to ask me anymore? Nevermind, you still are.
