This place has gone down hill since they first opened. Came here on a Friday afternoon around 3 and no one was there. The bartender didn’t acknowledge us after being there for more than 10 minutes and like I said, there was no one there. I used to like their appetizers, however it was awful. We got their nacho fries, artichoke dip and egg rolls and all three tasted frozen and at $ 10+ for each, we expected better. Not a bad beer selection though, hence the one star, but I won’t go there for food again.

If you like craft beer and good food, this place is not for you. I used to come here when they first opened and the beer was great and so was the food. Now the craft beer tastes like crap and the food tastes like something you can buy in the freezer section at a cheap grocery store. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Modern country bar and grill. Very middle of the road but not plain. Eclectic beer handles. Moderate to upscale full bar. Music always playing. Nacho fries are good.

Came here for the first time last weekend on Saturday afternoon when only a handful of people were here. This place is pretty small. It pretty much consist of a large long bar. I do like the wood interior. We enjoy some beers and shots before moving on to the next spot. I can always tell who the regulars are as some are looking a little too tipsy on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm.

These numskulls gave my credit card to someone else, and didn’t even try to help when they realized their error. Their phone was also off the hook for days when I tried to retrieve the card, and I had to track down the temporary owner of my card via Facebook to get it back. They never called me to rectify — and were pretty surly about the mistake… which was entirely their fault. Will not return. Glad Burgers and Brews are moving in next door, Goldfield needs to step up their game if they want to stick around.

My first time going to this place was for a swing lesson. The lessons were canceled so we asked the bartender if we could plug in our ipod and line dance and he said no because they were screening a movie, no movie played. Not busy when we went and it took the bartender 5 – 7 minutes to acknowledge we were there, heard alot of good places about this place but very disappointed.

I loved that the chef himself delivered our meal! My only question though… why no lurch? I Work around the corner and CRAVEE that spinach dip and always have to wait.

Stopped in for food togo. Customer service was great. The atmosphere was chill and relaxing. Ordered a burger and fries. The burger was unique but messy. Homemade ranch was delicious. Went back at 9:30pm and was impressed that it was packed to standing room only. Lesson learned to return at an earlier time.

Came in for a quick dinner with a few of my buddies on a Thursday night. The place was empty around 5:30pm, but come around 6:00pm the place filled up and everyone was watching the Thursday night football game on TV. First let me say the service was great. The bartender kept my soda full and was attentive to any requests I had. I ordered some wings which were on the happy hour menu and they came out in a timely manner hot, crispy and juicy. Sadly my dinner the steak sandwich I was not impressive, there was a bit to much char for me and the steak was pretty chewy. Mind you this was the only meal I had the entire day, so I thought at this point anything would taste good. Overall it was a good experience, and I will return but likely it will be for drinks and the bar atmosphere.

Great place to have brunch on the weekend, early in the morning, barely people there. Have a kinda like arcade, shooting game that our daughter like. No kids menu, but they do have small plate menu for kids or adults. Goldfield jalapeño was my favorite, coming cheesy and spicy wrapped in bacon, yummy. Cowpoke brunch, regular breakfast with eggs any style you want and bacons with potato and the best part was jalapeño cheddar sourdough bread. Hubby had fish taco was the best, shrimps taco was good(only had 2 batter shrimps in the taco) and chicken taco with the chicken dry. He want to try the carnitas and carne asada next time. Daughter had chicken strips, she is not a big fan of it.

This place is very odd to me, it’s like a cowboy hipster bar. They play mixed variety of music and it tends to get very busy with lots of young fraternity /sorority types. Probably a good hookup or singles bar but for anyone else it’s pretty ridiculous. Lol. And from what I gather the same owner of the butcher block and the lowbrau owns this place too, talk about a crazy monopoly on the bar scene.

Hubby and I have been here twice; both times for lunch on a Saturday after having put in some target practice at Sacramento Gun Club. So, for us, the two are inexplicably linked. Anyway, I had a $ 25 gift card burning a hole in my pocket(you can pick one up for $ 12.50 through the Sweetdeals website: ) and we were hungry after all the shootin’ at the gun club, so Goldfield’s it was. At first, we weren’t sure they were open for lunch on a Saturday, but they are(actually, a lunch and brunch menu are available on weekends), though it’s not crowded at all. On the first trip, I had the chicken & waffle sandwich; flippin’ great! The waffle was the«bread» part of the sandwich, with crispy chicken in between. It was a huge portion, and I wolfed it down. Hubby had the grilled chicken sandwich, which was again a huge portion, which came with a huge pile of fries. On our last trip, I got their steak sandwich, which came with a whiskey dipping juice, and was fantastic. I got the fries, and let me say that I LOVE Goldfield’s fries! They come out hot, and they are nice and crispy, not limp or mushy, and there is a mountain of them that come with your sandwich. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm… Keep in mind, they definitly cook to order, so you’ll be sitting for what feels like an eternity before your food gets to your table; we experienced this both times we’ve been here for lunch. But, the bartender/waitress keeps your drinks filled, and will switch one of the many big-screenTVs to the show of your choice while you’re waiting. To me, you get a great portion of lunch yumminess at Goldfield’s…as long as Sweetdeals is doling out the 50% off deals, we’ll continue the«lunch after shooting» tradition.

This place can be a lot of fun on a Friday or a Saturday night. There’s usually a big crowd and the bartenders handle it well. They have live music, so be prepared to see a bunch of Sac wannabe cowgirls line dancing. The atmosphere is pretty cool there. It looks like an old-school travern with plenty of taxidermied animal heads and Western décor to give the place a «trading post» feel. The menu is pretty decent. Try the bacon-wrapped pineapple or the carne asada fries. Yummy!

Great crispy onion rings! There… I like to start on a positive note. Really, the onion rings here are fabulous. Lightly battered and deep, golden brown… perfect. The fries are pretty damn good, too. Must be one top-notch Fry Daddy they’ve got in the kitchen. The other stuff we ordered, eh… not so much. Maybe my expectations were set a little too high, since I’d heard that Tank House operators were handling the food. We got a burger and the French dip. Both were disappointing. The BF ordered his burger medium-rare, hoping to not end up with a dry patty. His tiny burger that took up about half the area of the bun was charred to a well-done crisp. Not good eats. Again, at least the fries were not only tasty, but plentiful as well. My French dip had meat that was mostly gristle-free, but not very flavorful. The hoagie roll was fresh and nicely toasted. It was the dipping sauce that threw me. Sweet with a bit of tomato tang, it was strange and unlike any au jus I’d ever had. Unfortunately, not in a good way. Service was aloof, but we were two of only three customers on an early Saturday afternoon, so I’d be willing to just chalk it up to the bartender being a bit bored. She was having fun with the one drinking customer and we were fine just watching Saving Private Ryan on the big screen while munching on our fried goodies.

I stopped by Goldfield this past Saturday with a buddy while bar hopping in Mid-town. I guess they are going for country here? They could do a lot better in my opinion. Just seems cheap. Normally i’m pretty easy with my reviews of Bars and Pubs… unless the bartenders are drinking. Are they permitted by management? Both bartenders on duty at 3pm Saturday 6÷13÷2015 were taking shots with their buddies. The male bartender was just running around being belligerent swearing and yelling… not sure how anyone finds this acceptable, especially at 3pm. The female bartender was kind and took care of us. I only saw her take one shot, so not as bad as her male comrade. I had the Ballast Point Sculpin draft — which was great! One of my favorites. I won’t return to this place. There are too many much better bars close by… with sober employees. The second star only because the female bartender was nice — about the only positive I can give this place.

I don’t know anything about country bands, line dancing, hipsters or food. I just dropped in late on a Tuesday afternoon for a beer. Service was friendly, the place was mellow, they had somewhere around eight micro brews on tap and I felt good sitting at the bar sipping on my beer and chilling out. I may even be back the next time I am in the area.

Hipsters gotta eat too! RIP Hamburger Mary’s or Pattie’s! So, I hadn’t heard much about this place, other than saw it’s golden sign up for months before it opened and that you could get your cowgirl on there… So when we headed there for dinner I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I had a feeling it’s hipster level would be on high and I was not wrong. From the décor to the staff’s outfits, the thirsty country vibe is real. It’s almost like that kid at school who tries too hard. However, we secured the last perfect spot to watch the giants game on their huge projector screen… so I’m really not that upset by the décor. Well, I will admit, the taxidermy is a little off putting, but I’m sure that’s just a preference thing! Hipster service, for a hipster bar. From the person to chair ratio, this place would be considered busy. But knowing that there aren’t that may seats and there were plenty of staff, I don’t know why our server was fairly bad at here job! Forget getting our drinks(Maverick Spritzer and the Double Barrel Sunburn) before our food. Forget our side of ranch. Forget asking if we’d like another drink. Forget stopping by the table other than to drop the drinks, food, and bill off. If we could have flagged her down, we would have… she was like the disappearing, hipster server… Okay, on to the food! We ordered the Tank House BBQ Burger and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, to share. Both of which were tasty. My only issue was with the friend chicken, it was about 70% super fried breading to 30% chicken. I felt a little jipped for paying $ 15 for mostly fried crispy stuff. Also, this is boneless chicken… just an FYI. The mashers, gravy, and corn were tasty and complimented the plate! The burger was good and their brioche bun was what I dream carb heaven would be like. The fries were just okay, but when you have ranch and ketchup, all is good in the fried world! I might come back, I might not…

Goldfield Trading Post is a new honky tonk bar and concert venue with a slightly sleazy vibe that’s bound to be popular with singles, women who just have to dance on bar tops, and… the…guys who enjoy watching women dance on bar tops. It’s sort of a mashup of Coyote Ugly meets Old West saloon. There’s line dancing on Tuesdays and karaōke on Thursdays, and lots of live music. It’s perfect for a boisterous night out, under-25 singles and for those nights when you want to tell the bartender«bottle o’rye and a glass.» We stopped in on a Monday night, taking in the interior décor accents — animal heads, wanted dead or alive posters, lots of decorating with antlers. «Tombstone» playing on the big screen TVs. Cocktail servers whose resumes might have featured stints at Hooters and Bulls. Women climbing up on the bar to dance(yes, it happened while we were there. Note to self: Do not touch top of bar). Bartenders doing shots. …and to think that Open Mic Nite wasn’t starting for another hour. Checking out the draft beers(some regional brewers featured), we noticed an extensive drink list and typical bar fare menu. Despite that the bar was only 1⁄3 full, the echoing noise was getting to us. We checked out the rest of the bar — it’s three echoey halls with the stage/live music in the center hall. Time to mosey. We hung up our spurs and headed for the double swinging doors. Would I return? Possibly. I might be back for lunch to try that meat loaf sandwich. Seriously. The roundup: Food:? — Can’t rate as we didn’t try. Service: 3 — No complaints! Setting: 2 — Loud when busy, with a traffic jam around the front door. Value: 3 — A-OK. Date worthy: 1 — Come single — maybe you’ll meet your future ex-wife! Dogs: No, but there are dead animals on the walls!

Unless your goal is «striking it rich» with a drunk young lass or buck, the brand spankin’ new Goldfields has little to offer anyone outside of fans of modern, bubblegum pseudo-country pop. Young women seem to flock to country Top 40 bars like moths to a light, and for that reason this could be a big moneymaker. There’s a laundry list of problems here that need to be addressed, but the largest issue by far is the layout. On a crowded weekend night, most of the patrons are packed shoulder to shoulder in the bar area while the rest of the building — two vast rooms, one with a stage — acts as spillover. To exit the bar area you must maneuver through a bottleneck into the stage room, which is basically a bright, barren echo chamber with few if any places to sit and groups of people standing around mingling. There is no access to the bar from the stage area, meaning that if you were to go there for a show, you would have to work your way back and forth through the doorway-sized bottleneck for a drink. The stage itself looks nice, but I don’t think the acoustics are conducive to live music. And why didn’t they have a band playing on a Friday night when they just opened instead of piped-in country? My personal experience wasn’t pleasant, but I know I’m not speaking for everyone. Chalk it up to the bros with neck tattoos eyeing everyone from afar or the young, drunk gals yelling«Out of the way!» and elbowing their way across the bar as a song with the chorus«candy apple moonlight» blares from above. Take this simply as a warning that this is the clientele you’re dealing with. Nevertheless, Goldfields seems to be filling a void left by the closing of the popular but low-rated Bulls and the played out scene at BarWest. There’s always a demand for that and I wish them the best. I’ll be somewhere else doing something else.
