My favorite hot dog stand in Sac. I always get the hotlink here and fill it with tons of sauerkraut, mustard, a little ketchup, relish and pickles. It is amazing. The hotlink is sliced in half and put into the bun. It is really yummy, I’ve never had a more perfect hot link(most good hot links are a little spicier than I would like). I used to come here all the time when I used to take a bus law class downtown(this place was right in between where I work and my class). But now since I’ve changed jobs I don’t work as close and don’t pass by anymore… I’ve only trekked over once since… but it was just as good as I remembered.

MELOVEHER! MELOVEHER(foot-)LONGTIME! SIT-REP(Situation Report) It’s great to have a great hot dog stand only 2 blocks North of my office-site! THESET-UPANDTHEFARE In fact, this is the first prong in my ritual walk: after I grab some peanuts in the shell, I get the hot dog(usually Seattle style with Cream Cheese or German style with Kraut), and walk to Capitol Park, and find on of my favorite park benches on the Southwest Quadrant of the park. And as I munch on my hot dog, I am approached by a surly group of squirrels, led by Chip & Dale, who look at my plaintively, eyeing the little pile of peanut shells on the bench next to me. I make a few teasing feints of peanut throws, but then follow through. It’s amazing to watch the little tussles between the fluffy-tailed rodents — it’s amazing to imagine squirrels WITHOUT tails and what handsome rats they would make. I also imagine how this scenario would be dramatically different if my pocket-Panthers JACK&BOBBY were there with me, watching these events. Would my cats think I lost it? Would they feel betrayed? Actually, I think they’d ridicule me because that’s the kind of basterds my cats are(since these are the same two that disect mice, rats and birds in front of me as we go on our walks). THELOWDOWN But I think I’ve wandered off the reservation and have gotten away from talking about DOGS. These are some good DOGS! YUMMM!

Amy consistently serves up cheap, tasty hot dogs with a smile. I’m generally not a fan of steamed dogs, but these always seem to hit the spot. She’s the sweetest person and if she’s not busy I like to hang out and chat with her while I eat my dog. She makes these cool little doily things and sells them sometimes next to her stand. They’re really cute and I think it’s awesome that you can get a hot dog and a doily from the same cart.

I have a dirty little secret. I’m a hot dog crack fiend. Sometimes I will buy two or three and sometimes four of them, particularly the the polish dogs and run back to my cubicle where I molest and devour them in secret. Unbeknownst to my boss and coworkers I slip into a polock dog coma my fingers and keyboard reeking of ammonia hahaha I mean aroma of mustard and ketchup, relish fragrance. Sometimes I wake up curled in a fetal position naked in the bathroom after my hot frenzy oh gawd it’s so embarasking, humiliating and I feel dehumanized from the orgy of hotdog bliss. This happens every Monday then I go back to work as usual.

Hot Dog Lady with her crochet is a downtown landmark. I think the secret to her tasty dogs is the fact that she does use hose water. Sacramento has the best tasting water in the state… and lord knows I enjoys me some hose water. Her prices could be cheaper but I don’t know of a hot dog cart that doesn’t strike me as pricey. She get four stars, only because ever since I was an intern shes offered to trade me a hot dog for my ring.

I don’t go here anywhere since recent developments in my health, but these are the best dogs from the nicest vendor in town. they’re twice as good(and hotter, and tastier) than the Capitol Dawg dogs, and quite a bit less expensive. She’s a nice lady & her dogs are excellent. You need to go here for lunch. If you need a quick gift for a grandma, she makes neat little lace ornaments/doilies for cheap too, and they’re really pretty.

Hot diggity! The hot dog lady rocks! She is so friendly and funny(buy some of her doilies, won’t ya?). While there happens to be another hot dog cart that’s in better proximity, I’d rather get in a little speed-walking exercise for my hot dog fix and visit the nice lady on 9th and Capitol. Why? Because the dogs are mucho tastier(I love the Jumbo Dog — all beef), about a buck cheaper, extra chili or cheese can be added for only .60, and they have the red onions that I prefer on my dog over the white. Actually, this hot dog stand is run by S & F catering and this dog stand is also located sometimes on 8th and H. Don’t worry if you happen to get to the stand and she’s M.I.A., she just had to go feed the meter — but I’m sure the meter maids would cut her some slack if they knew better. The stand usually closes up around 1:30pm, so don’t be a slacker like me and try to mosey on over there too late.

Pretty darn good hot dogs. The big jumbo dog with sauerkraut and mustard is my favorite. Especially for $ 3. Only draw back is they have no dill pickles. The Hot Dog Lady is usually there for the lunch rush and is gone after 1:30. And she sells handmade doillies. Don’t ask because I don’t know why the hog dog lady sells em, but she does.
