My family stopped at this place on our way home from a ski tour. We didn’t expected too much as we were the only customers in the restaurant at that time. But it turns out the food is pretty good. We ordered the curry chicken, won ton soup, and ‘chao ma mien’. The service is also very good. will return if I ever need to stop for a dinner on my next ski trip.

Some suggestions: glass covering each table looks noble and classy but lacks customer-centric considerations. Halogen lighting also made feel digress and less comfy ’cause the intense light was beaming toward my forehead. Halogen lighting consumes a lot of power. LED lighting can surely save 80% of power consumed by halogen. The first time i was there each cuisine I tasted left the lingering lip balm effect on my lips. The second time I was there I didn’t feel it. Probably they used lard for the food I had during my first visit. A Unilocaler said a lot of MSG but that was perhaps because of the lard used for cooking. I persobally wish this business would enjoy business growth and prosperity. I will be back.

This place is SOOOOYUMMY! I would definitely come here everyday if I could! I LOVELOVELOVE their hot and sour soup, ja jang myun, Mongolian beef, chicken chow mein, and fried rice! Everything is incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked! The service is also GREAT as everyone is really friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you’re enjoying your meal! I recommend this place to anyone looking to eat authentic Korean and/or Chinese food! Everything is decently priced and the portions are pretty big! They even offer various family meals for those wanting to try a little bit of everything! :) Great place to take your family for a nice dinner! So happy I found this place! I’ll be coming back for sure! Food– 6⁄5(the BEST Chinese/Korean food I’ve had in a long time!) Service– 6⁄5(seriously the nicest people you’ll ever meet!)

My lady and went here for one of my friends birthday dinners. We read the Unilocal reviews and there was a mix of reviews so we were a little skeptical about eating here. The area is so so, I am usually never excited about the Fulton area. When we arrived Jin men is right next door to a massage parlor that closes at 11. I wasn’t too excited about that and plus the parking lot is small. Now to the food… We ordered a variety of dishes… The first one is a garlic fried chicken which was really good. It was crispy, moist and the garlic sauce was good. We also ordered a shrimp dish that was baked inside a dough(like a chicken pot pie) with a tomato sauce. That dish was really good as well, very flavorful and not too sweet. Another dish we ordered was the garlic fried calamari. Just like the garlic fried chicken, it was with calamari and it was very good! Flavorful, crispy and goes well with rice! We ordered a black paste noodle dish and it was pretty good! It was light but could use more flavor! We also ordered a veggie stir fry dish which consisted of mushrooms, bamboo, baby corn, and broccoli. Was just so so… Blend… Boring… Last, we ordered a sea food soup which consisted of noodles, clams, shrimp and load of veggies… I stayed away from that since it smelled too fishy for me… The service was excellent though!!! Steve was cool and very nice and welcoming!!! Cool dude… If u can, ask for him! Would I return, maybe, but not anytime soon…

Got the jja jjang myun to go like everyone on here and it was fairly decent. A little bland but overall i can’t argue with a okay deal. it was about 9 dollars. lol. anyways, the staff was friendly… the only thing was the waiter told me I had to heat up my noodles first which is something I am not akin to doing ever before… but the noodles came cold and I decided it was good advice. One more thing… my fortune cookie was broken in half, which made me die a little inside. So bland dish, cold noodles, and broken fortune cookie, I can’t give you more than 2 star.

Very friendly service, and great food! It’s the only place around here that has GOOD Korean chinese food. Love their jjambbong, jjajangmyun, and tangsuyook!

Excellent service. They have a spicy Jjajjang myun(noodle) that is delicious. The jampong is sensational as well. The shrimp with chili sauce is a good plate to share among friends. Definitely recommend this restaraunt.

My favorite place in the Sacramento area for ja jang myun! I like the spicy version. I prefer the noodles here over peking’s.

Food is fairly decent but the service is minimal! Please train your waitress to be more attentive to your costumers. Not even a thank you considered my meal was $ 18 by myself. All I ask for was more rice and she completely ignored me.

I would give this place a 3.5, but rounded it up to a 4 for the friendly and attentive service. Prices are of good value with decently tasting food. Jin Men is located in a very small parking lot surrounded by auto sales lots. It could be pretty easy to miss. When the boyfriend and I arrived, we weren’t even sure if the place was open because the parking lot was empty and the blinds were closed. However, we were greeted by a friendly lady who proceeded to turn on the lights in the dining area, as well as the radio. We tried the lemon chicken and jajangmyun during this visit. I was very excited to try this place for the jajangmyun, but the flavor was lacking sadly. The texture of the sauce and noodles were good, but the flavor was bland and pretty much non-existent. Some flavor come from the onions/veggies mixed in, but that’s about it. I did like the lemon chicken however. The breading to chicken ratio was good and I liked the tangy flavored lemon sauce. Overall, pretty decent meal. It cost a little under $ 20 for jajangmyun, lemon chicken, and a bowl of rice.

Found this place via Unilocal the other weekend and was excited to see that there was a Chinese/Korean place as there is not another one in the area. The notion of being able to get some good Jja Jjang Myun and Jjambong was very exciting. The person who seated us was very friendly, but the positives end there. I ordered the Jja Jjang Myun, Ggan Poong Gi(Garlic Chicken), and a couple small appetizers and shrimp fried rice. As a few reviewers have touched on, the food is very bland, and they use MSG. I’m not an anti-MSG freak or anything, but it personally makes me feel a little nauseous for whatever reason when I eat food that has it. I know some people have a bad reaction to it though others have no reaction. So just fyi. The Ggang Poong Gi was most disappointing. If you’ve ever had this dish at a proper place you know what I mean as it’s usually very delicious. It came out in these rock hard fried boulders with a little bit of chicken in the center and it was very tough. Fried rice is a dish you’d think you couldn’t mess up, but they used fresh steamed rice to make it which made it come out kind of mushy and again everything was really bland even the kim chee and I don’t know how that’s possible. I had high hopes for this place, but alas the food was almost inedible.

You know it was just A-okay. A safe choice, a solid meal, but not super spectacular. We had the mapatofu, sizzling rice soup, general chicken, jajangmyun(black bean noodles), and honey walnut shrimp. Every dish was like a 3.5 out of 5. It was average fare and a-ok…but absolutely uninspiring as you can see by this review, lol. To each his own… enjoy =I

The House Chow Mein and the Black Bean Paste Noodles are very tasty. The Spicy Seafood Noodles is ok. They serve warm Chinese tea.

My family usually go to Peking on folsom blvd for Korean-Chinese food. Since we were in the area we wanted to try it out. First tang soo yook was ok. Seemed chunkier beef yet it was tough, and beef itself wasn’t seasoned before being coated with starch. But it was crispy and sauce was pretty good. Jjajangmyun was good. Tasted pretty much same as Peking. Palbochae, flavor was good but was missing sea cucumber, and had only couple pieces of scallops. Had 3 different kinds of mushrooms, one seemed canned. Broccoli, bok choy, bamboo shoot, baby corn, shrimp, and squid was the content. Yangjangpi was good, similar to Peking. So if Peking is too far, definitely not a bad substitute, but probably we will stick to Peking. Btw had Mongolian take out for hubby but he said it was a bit blend…

I ended up here after searching for Chinese food in the Arden area because they got some good reviews. We were greeted immediately as we got to the restaurant. The person that helped us was very nice and welcoming. We ordered hot and sour soup, chicken curry and honey walnut shrimps to go. I requested that the hot and sour soup and chicken curry be prepared more on the spicy side. Everything was very bland, lacking flavor and spiciness as i had requested. The only way we were able to eat the food was by adding lots of hot sauce and it was too late to get anything else. There was a family at the restaurant enjoying their dinner… maybe this place is just not for me. 2 stars because of friendly service. Will not be going back here.

Let’s start with the notion that I was pretty stoked about this place. That’s because Koreans were serving good Chinese food. But my objective was to try their Korean food. As usual, anyday is a good day for noodle soup, so I went with the Jambong(Korean spicy seafood noodle soup). Unfortunately, even after a long wait, the jambong was not something to rave about. The noodles were a little thicker than ramen and chewy but the vegetables(kimchi, zucchini, onions) were so overcooked. Mussels, squid legs and shrimp were provided, of which I think the squid was the most predominant. The seafood mix reminded me of the frozen mixes sold at Koreana. But hey, who knows where it’s from. What I was hoping would save the jambong was the broth but unfortunately it didn’t. It was spicy yet bland, nothing memorable. There were a whole lot of patrons ordering Chinese food when I was there. Maybe that’s what I should stick with if I come again next time.

Finally, a great Chinese restaurant in the Arden/Arcade area of Sacramento — actually it’s better than any I’ve tasted in Sacramento period(though I know South Sac has some good places I haven’t been to). Ordered Dinner A(for 2 people) — choice of Hot & Sour Soup or Sizzling Rice(we went Sizzling Rice), and 2 meat dishes… once was sweet & sour pork. I can’t recall the other, though it was a very common dish, though I was blown away by the freshness of the vegetables and the excellent flavor. I don’t even know what more to add to this review — everything was outstanding. It’s owned by Koreans I believe, though their food is better than any of the Chinese owned restaurants in the area(in my opinion). Prices are fair and serving sizes are good. In some cities they would only be a 4 star I imagine, though considering our lack of good Chinese food in Sacramento they are definitely a 5.

After going here again I really have to update. My new addition to the old review: When you order a shrimp dish they make this fried wonton shell that covers the shrimp dish. It’s crispy and freshly fried and best of all you get a wooden mallet to crack it open. It’s awesomely messy and I have no idea how they deal with my mess that I create when I go but they do it. If cracking that crab shell is why you go to crab shacks then you’ll have a field day with this wonton shell because the fun is in the hammering. Hilarious. My old review: By far the best Hwa-gyo place in Sacramento. Come to this place if you are looking for good old Chinese food or if you are looking for Chinese-Korean specialties like Jja-jang myung or Jam-pong myung. They also have the spicy version of mapo tofu. BTW did I forget to mention what all the weirdly named dishes are in the first review? Why yes, I did forget. Hwa-gyo is an ethnic Chinese person born or raised in Korea. They make distinct dishes called jja-jang myun and jjang pong. Jja-jjang myun is a black bean paste noodle which is sweet and bitter at the same time. Jjang pong is a spicy seafood soup based noodle with all kinds of seafood in it. Mapo tofu is a dish made from a thick gelatinous sauce and includes tofu and veggies. The spicy version of Mapo tofu also features fermented soy beans(kind of like a rough miso), ground meat and ground red peppers.
