Johnny Rockets

Came here to eat with my girlfriend and we’re immediately welcomed with a smile; so far so good!
My girlfriend ordered the Bacon Cheddar and I ordered the BBQ Brisket (both comes with unlimited fries). Food took 20 mins to be delivered, and the food isn’t worth the time and money. My girlfriend doesn’t have the best palate and is definitely not picky with her food; she says it’s alright. I asked for no tomatoes on mine and welp… Sure enough there were tomatoes. The burgers were super greasy (as to be expected).
The waitress came to our table 4 times in total: to take our order, to deliver the food, and to bring us the check, and to take the check. Not one time anyone asked to refill our waters/​fries, give us napkins, or ASK HOW THINGS WERE/​IF WE NEEDED ANYTHING.
TLDR; We don’t recommend this establishment to anyone. We’d rather get a Big Mac or some Chalupas at Taco Bell.

First of all, it says in front of the door, pleas wait to be seated. Nobody acknowledged us for few minutes, until this Asian guy said we can sit anywhere we want to sit. We finally got our table and nobody gave us a menu. We literally have to go in front and grab our own menu. We waved and asked for their attention and nobody came to take our orders. The women are worst (the long braided hair girl and another short dark hair girl) who obviously ignored us. Finally we got the attention of the same Asian guy. I told him our complaints but no apology received. After he took our orders, he picked up the slack. We looked at the people around us and even the people that just came after us got the menu and was served first. We thought that this place doesn’t serve food to Asian people. We will never go back to this place, that’s for sure!

The service here was horrible. Rude staff members, and took almost an hour just to get some fries. Wow. Please hire more qualified staff members Mr. Rocket.

It was great!!! My Kids Love eating there my daughter Loves the way they serve the ketchup. I had the Club salad it was very delicious… Will eat there again and again. Thank you for the great food and great service

Service was extremely slow, by the time the correct food order came out we were there for more then an hour.

Cool little 50’s style diner complete with the music to set the mood. We seated ourselves and was greeted by a friendly waitress. I ordered the original and it was delivered quickly. The first bite was a bit of a surprise as I didn’t expect pickle relish on my burger. It was tasty, though and I enjoyed my meal.

Food was decent but service was horrible. I ordered take-​out and stood there for a good five minutes while employees looked at me and then each other like they didn’t know what to do when a customer comes up to the register.

I created a Unilocal account just to leave this review. DO NOT EAT HERE. I got some of the WORST food poisoning of my life. The chicken tenders were not even tasty; I only ate 2 and left the rest. I was very sick for the next 2 days, and the manager’s response to my complaint was that because nobody else reported any problems, it had nothing to do with their food and must have just been me getting sick. We all know what food poisoning is like, and I definitely got it here. I was very disappointed with the food quality as well as their handling of my complaint.

If I could I would give this place zero stars. My brother’s family and I were trying to find a place to eat at for my bday. We choose wrong. Not only did it take 5 mins to get a menu (its not even that busy), we were ignore several time by the wait staff. We were there for almost 20 mins trying to place an order. On top of that my newphews who are 3 and 1 were hungry and getting up set. At least two sets of tables got up and left and one table got menus and orders in while we waited. And they came in after us. This is some bs. The waitress walkes past at least 5 times and didnt even ask for drink order or nothing. I believe the staff needs to be retrained or somerthing because ignoring people is a great way to get complaints. Also I was upset because it was my bday and i was hoping to have a great day.

I don’t usually post reviews but this place literally gave me the worst food poisoning ever. I spent an entire night vomiting up the meal and being nauseous.
If that wasn’t enough, service was pretty awful. It was self seating and so the only seat left was in the corner, the server didn’t stop by at all other than to take our order and had to be flagged down. We ended up having to go up to the bar to ask for our check, and the service completely ignored us for a solid 10 minutes before I had to pipe up and ask at which point my server who had been missing the entire time suddenly reappears.
I work customer service I get when its is busy the server can’t be everywhere but the damn people were so inattentive you could have just walked out of the place without paying the bill and no one would have said a thing. Pretty shoddy experience overall, definitely NEVER going back to this place

Bad service and bad attitude! My granddaughter of 4 and I came in and he just pointed and said sit anywhere. So I needed to sit next to her then people came in after us got their order and their food before he took our order sounds typical except he never he brought no drinks at all. Then I asked him for drinks and he got angry then yelled at me… we during the best we can” yeah I get that but not for a grandmother and her 4 year granddaughter… he calmed down finally and gave us ice cream no charge. It was obvious that he ignored us. It’s really frustrating to watch everyone around us other families and ignored us until I raised my hand. It was very hard to see and experience!

FOOD
— Spicy Houston Hamburger: beef patty, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato & spicy sauce. The patty was cooked well. It’s pretty thin, which I like. But it could have used a little more flavor. The burger had a nice kick. The side salad consisted of greens, tomatoes, and onions. 3.5÷5
— BBQ Chicken Sandwich: chicken breast, bacon, cheddar cheese, onion rings, BBQ sauce, and lettuce. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The side of fries were okay. It wasn’t crunchy or crispy. And the portion was small. Sandwich 4/​5, fries ³⁄₅.
SERVICE
Our server, Hector, was friendly. He checked up on us a couple of times. Service was a little slow but it wasn’t too bad. ⁴⁄₅
FINAL THOUGHTS
Decent food, good service. If you sign up with JR, they give you a BOGO coupon for your birthday and for signing up!

This place is so good! I’ve tried 3 different burgers here and all were amazing. The ingredients taste fresh as they advertise. Only downside: they are really greasy, but hey, it’s a burger. Prices are average-you’ll pay around $ 9 for most burgers.
Service was excellent; the tall guy with guages made the experience so nice! We will be back the next time we’re shopping!

Food adequate, service slow. Probably wouldn’t go back

I decided to dine at Johnny Rockets today for the first time ever. I brought my brother and boyfriend along too. I’m sad to say what this place is pretty awful! All around awful in fact! I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!
When we walked in, it was very unclear what to do, we came in the main entrance all of the employees looked at us at one point and no one said a word. We stood there waiting in the middle of the restaurant and almost 10 minutes later (when we were about to leave) a girl said «open seating». So we say ourselves.
Service was horrible! We waited an unreasonable amount of time to be greated at our table. Our server never introduced herself. She came to our table and said «are you ready» but we didn’t even have drinks.
Drinks and food took forever and there were maybe 4 tables in the place. Believe it or not, the food was actually the worst part of the whole experience. The burgers were practically dressed with grease. It was disgusting. I am all for greasy food but greasy in the right way, if you know what I mean. A little glaze of grease is one thing but these burgers were literally dripping. My stomach is still turning thinking about how sick I was after my visit to Johnny Rockets! I should NOT have eaten the food.
I am usually not this harsh on reviews because I consider the fact that they could have been having an all around off day but based on the other reviews, this is something that has been going on for a while.
I don’t know how they are still in business! I will not be returning. If you’re thinking about dining here-​dont– your stomach will thank you.

Burger was good as always, and had really good service!!! Although I’m saddened by the fact that they took their wings off their menu but again service tonight was wonderful!

Doesn’t deserve any stars, drove from Elk Grove to eat, got there at 6:45 & told when we walked in they were closed. Unilocal says open til 8:00. Guess there doing so good they don’t care how they treat their customers. If your open til 8:00, that’s means til 8:00.

Don’t eat here… Unless you enjoy snotty, passive aggressive servers & dining with flies.

It’s just burgers and milkshakes. I been here a few times after I finish shopping at the mall. It’s nice that it’s located inside the mall. This place is big and there’s a lot of seating at the counter, booths, and tables. There’s also a restroom inside the restaurant, so you don’t need to use the mall restroom. There are times when this place can get busy, but service is quick. The workers are nice and always check on us a few times :) Overall, food is good, prices are okay, but some burgers can be a bit more expensive.

Fantastic burgers and chicken strips! The lady was super friendly and quick to refill our drinks. You can tell the restaurant is rather old, but they definitely can cook!

The food was pretty good. We ordered a tuna melt and grilled cheese. The tuna melt was good and the grilled cheese was decent. Service is pretty fast. The peanut butter chocolate shake was excellent.

Great Burgers, Had the route 66 mushroom burger. It was fantastic. The salty Carmen shake is to die for. Prices are reasonable and the people are friendly. I live three hours from sac and would go down there just for lunch at this place.

I have no idea why this place has such a low rating. Great server and solid food. Loved the strawberry Oreo milkshake. I’ve never had a bad experience at a Johnny Rockets.

We have been here several time in pass few month. The food taste amazing. The last time we were there was last Sunday (1÷11÷15). It was pretty busy. Our waiter’s name was Adrian. He did an excellent job. When my bf started running low on his drink he gave him another one. He check up on us a few times while we were eating to make sure everything was okay. Also the sun stated shining onto my bf’s face and Adrian ran over there and start closing the blinds which I thought was really nice bc he was paying attention. He did a great job!

Best friend and I have had a fabulous day of post-​Christmas shopping and decided we were ready for a quick lunch. WhatI love about this place (other than the adorable 1950s décor) is that it’s still a sit down restaurant even though it’s kind of fast food-​y. Sometimes you just don’t want to stare at a menu board while being elbowed in line.
I haven’t eaten at a Johnny Rocket since I was a kid, but I’m now wondering why it’s been so long. The food was good, the servers were very friendly, and the prices are unbeatable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone at Arden needing some nosh.

Meh, to me its a chain with pretty good food. I am rounding up to a 3, but during the busy hour they seemed a bit frazzled.
Our order was «lost,» my drink wasn’t made correctly, and my sister’s sprite was served from an unsyruped blend… so they basically gave her tonic water. I am still giving a three because our server seemed genuinely apologetic with each mistake… there just seemed to be too many.
Burger was cooked well, and my sister enjoyed her grilled chicken sandwich. And of course, we both thoroughly enjoyed the fries.
The servers ability to serve and dance to Aretha Franklin’s «Respect» was done in a way more enjoyable way then the servers at Joe’s Crab Shack.

Sadly after today’s visit, I can see why Johnny Rockets holds such a low rating.
First off, I’ll begin with this: their shakes are 5 star in my opinion! I ordered the s’mores shake — because how can you come to Johnny Rockets and NOT get a milkshake? Their list of milkshake options is the most extensive that I’ve seen at a restaurant. I wanted to try the strawberry Oreo crumble or banana milkshake, but decided on the s’mores. Marshmallow flavor milkshake with vanilla ice cream, chocolate, and graham crackers. Every component was perfect and the milkshake was one of the best I’ve had!
Now I’ll get to the reason why I’m giving a 2 star review after raving about that milkshake. Their menu has a lot of delicious options — or what seems like they would be delicious. I went with a smokehouse single burger. It’s described as a one-​of-​a-​kind burger, topped with smoked bacon, crispy sourdough onion rings, cheddar cheese and their special barbecue ranch sauce.
The burger comes served on this kid sized plate over average fries. The server delivers it without a smile… but wait! She gives us a little tray and draws a smiley face inside with her ketchup bottle. I guess that counts. But it’s not nearly enough ketchup for my fries. But there’s no ketchup bottle on our table, so I have to get myself up and grab one from a different table (I’m not lazy, I’m just sore from wakeboarding… and why is our table the only one without ketchup?!).
The burger itself is flat. The bacon is overdone. Onion rings weren’t crispy as described. And the part I was looking forward to, the special barbecue ranch sauce, was hard to taste! The layer of sauce was so minimal, I could barely taste it. I guess they have to be scarce with it because it’s so special… Overall, below average. I would rather grab a Western Bacon cheeseburger at Carls Jr, which has the same exact ingredients, but executed in a much better way for half the price.
On top of that, my boyfriend’s burger did not come with the fried egg he asked for. Knowing him, a fried egg is one of his favorite parts of a burger so I know he was excited at the option of adding one. We flagged down a server to inform him of the mistake so that we would not be charged for it. No apology whatsoever, no offer to remake the burger or add an egg.
I will only return here for their milkshakes. And even then, I will have to be at the mall already if I want to grab one, because I won’t go out of my way to come back here.

No where can you find a Smoke House Single this good! I’d have cravings, in which I would come to Johnny Rockets specifically for it. Something about that savory sauce and greasy goodness just makes me complete. I’ve tried a «smoke house single» at another restaurant (all the ingredients were the same), but it just could not compare to Johnny Rockets. And not to mention the fries! We got them super fresh, hot, and crisp. You really can’t go wrong with the bottomless fries.
Our waiter was this gentlemen that we’ve had before. He’s always cheerful and chirpy and I appreciate that. The last thing you’d want is a debbie downer serving your food, and bringing down your mood. As for the cleanliness of the place, I’d admit, they could do a little better with.
