The only great hairstylist here is Masha. Ask for her every single time because she is the ONLYLICENSED cosmetologist there. The owner is so rude and he does not hold a license. Plus this place is weird. He plays Les Brown for customers to hear and expects you to listen and not complain. I asked him to turn it off and the beast said no. Really? I am not a religious fanatic and do not need Les Brown saying now awful women are. And what is with this dude’s hair? Half gone half jeri curl? He is awful and unprofessional and should be shut down.

This ratchet chick yanked the shit out of my hair like she’s never combed nappy hair before. The manager/owner/some guy was super unprofessional. He harassed the chick while I was there and then sprayed something in my hair without asking. Then he told me she was having trouble because I don’t take care of my hair. ~_~ Miss me with that. She was having trouble because she has no clue what’s she’s doing.

I went here to get my hair flat ironed. The place was dirty. The owner jay did my hair which took forever cause he was on the phone constantly. Then he proceed to soak my hair in pure castor oil. Which in turn made my hair looking nasty and greasy. Worst salon i’ve been too

Desperation never leads to successful results but I was about to go out of town and my stylist canceled last minute so I thought to try a local black salon I had seen near a bank I begin with the entrance was confusing I walked into a separate shop where they braid hair and was directed back around the corner to the dusty dark shop I had passed over when i was buzzed in I was met by the owner who was working in a space that was less than tidy or sanitary but I desperately need a cut and style he proceeded to harass me about using a no lye relaxer and how I was destroying my hair… Then when i was trying to explain how I wanted my bangs cut he told me «no normal person would want them that way» then when I tried to show him a picture he refused to look at it… he harassed me and went on and on about my no lye relaxer did a horrible cut and soaked my hair in Castor oil… awful customer service lack of styling skill I would never recommend this place ever!

I’ve been going to Jay’s shop sporadically for nine years for braids(cornrows). His braiders come and go like water, so it is hit and miss when there are good braiders with proper customer service. I find that the younger braiders tend to lack etiquette and end up getting fired or quitting. As for the owner, I respect Jay and enjoy my conversations with him. He can be very to the point at times and is very watchful of his employees but it is his business and that is what has worked for him for decades. He reminds me of a cranky but kind uncle. I do not always go to him if I think he has a batch of poor braiders but I always call him first to check because he is a staple of Sacramento.

I have been going to this salon since I was 18 years old I am now going to be 27 this year. The Owner Jay is a pretty straightforward guy, but when it comes to the care of your tresses he does not mess around. He specializes in bi-racial hair care as well as African braiding. He does it all. !!!
