i ordered a congee, waited for 30 minutes and it did not arrive. if a business cant take care of the customers then it shouldn’t be in business.

Just got there and lost my appetite. Thought it was a bean in my sticky rice but was a fly. Told the owner this is my favorite dimsum place but won’t be coming back here no more. She apologize and says things like this happens and she crossed out only the sticky rice.

Came for a wedding banquet this most current time but my family used to come once in awhile for dim sum. They let us have the larger side of the restaurant and I think the smaller side was open to public. Just walking to and from the bathroom, we saw quite a few tables enjoying their meal. I’m sure the public were either annoyed or entertained by all the Vietnamese karaōke singing going on at the wedding. It was probably the most Asian wedding I’d been to in awhile. With all giant Asian banquets, it was 10+ courses of deliciousness. Let’s see if I can remember all the courses. Soup, jellyfish & cured meat appetizer platter, quail, chicken, veggies with mushrooms, lobster, honey walnut shrimp, chow mein, sea bass, and fried rice. I would say the soup (fish maw seafood) and the sea bass was my favorite. Everything was really good. Also probably because we were drinking and food in general just tastes better after a few drinks. Haha. Service was fine, considering the large party. I left about 11 and they were still partying away and the restaurant didn’t seem to be cleaning up too vigorously, trying to get us out of there.

Still a fan, but prices have gone up quite a bit since my last review — about 20%, or 50c per plate. Most plates are now $ 3.25, with some higher and only one thing we ordered was less ($ 2.75). The service is still very good (especially for a Dim Sum restaurant), with the servers we encountered all demonstrating extreme patience with us. One in particular was exceptionally helpful. The food was also still quite good.

Good amount of food for family size and the price is decent for what you get. Food is ready for pick up fast as well! Definetly saves time to call in for a order and just pick up usually takes 15 mins minimum.

A Good & Solid Dim Sum Experience For Sacramento!
SITREP
We had some friends coming down the hill from Reno who wanted to meet up for the day and this was the first spot were going to hit together at 11am! Part of the fun was that for our friend Leslie, this was her first Dim Sum experience.
THE SETUP
The Dim Sum experience I’ve noticed at the few places I’ve been seem to feature a nice round table with a large lazy susan on which all the dishes are places — including the tea and cups — and then everyone does the Dim Sum family style where you get to sample a variety of different dishes.
Chris M., the illustrious Reno coordinator of today’s trip, was also our ringleader when it came to ordering the various Dim Sum dishes, many that she knew we would all like, but also to give the widest possible array of experiences for Leslie as a first-​timer.
* Various roasted chicken
* Shrimp Dumplings
* Shrimp Balls
* Shao Mai
* Bbq Pork Buns
* Duck
* Fried Taro
* Chicken Feet
* Rice
* Hearty seafood stew
* Hot Tea
* And for dessert, Pineapple Custard Baos
* etc., and many other delicacies!
These were all very tasty, and we literally stuffed ourselves on this feast! And with five (5) people, it worked out to an average of $ 15 per person for what was a pretty extravagant feast of Chinese delights!
THE LOWDOWN
I would definitely come back here for another round of Dim Sum!

On 4÷17÷2016, me and my buddies were heading to this finest restaurant located at the Stockton Blvd strip in the Little Saigon neighborhood. King Palace brings the consumers to taste their assortments of Dim Sums and Chinese foods right at your guest’s table. The atmosphere is quite busy and ongoing as I welcomed here. The concept is much old schooled here mixing with neon lights, large wedding ballroom stage, and worn furnitures.
The employees are doing a fine job here for making the customers like me an enjoyable service. No cons at all despite the small bumps of ordering confusions.
Now onto the food! We did have some great Dim Sums here. They are quite delicious although some of them didn’t make my taste buds very satisfied. The goods are the Har Gaw (shrimp dumplings), pork buns, and the pineapple buns in a cupcake format which these three are very appealing and tasty. The cons is the porridge. It tasted good, yet somehow, it did lacked the flavors for me. I wish this porridge needs some seasoning to make it better. Otherwise, it’s not a bad Dim Sum meal at all.
There’s plenty of parking spaces available, so you can park anywhere you want near or far.
In the end, King Palace is a fine Chinese and Dim Sum restaurant that I always enjoyed it for the past several visits ago. Perfect for friends and family gatherings. A fine visit. My rating: 3 ½ stars.

Holy apple crackers! You better come early when you have the chance cause it WILL get full and busy. The place was spacious and lively. Food and price was a decent price so don’t worry too much as portion was enough for a family. Also, the rate at when food arrived at your table is decent to slow but I guess it just depends on the time that you arrive. Overall it’s a fun experience. Food on ppl!

Only tried the dim sum and was satisfied. Place could use a little updating but besides that it’s good. The service is decent too by my Asian restaurant standard since they tend to be less attentive than American restaurant.
This place is second to Asian Pearl for dim sum. My favorite is the deep fried taro dim sum. It’s a perfect balance and very tasty.

This place is just ok. I gave up expecting good food in Sacramento. I’ve been here a few times and nothing really stands out for me. food is always oily.
well, maybe something did stand out… the Leek Pancakes, that was good.

I think this is the last of the sit-​down dim sum restaurants I have to check off my list in my search for flavors I grew up with in Hong Kong. The short summary is that this place is serviceable and has some strong points, but there are also weak spots and inconsistencies that are too significant to ignore or to overcome.
King Palace is half a parking lot’s length down from Happy Garden, and both have the same bombed out, crummy looking exterior because that whole strip mall has just not been kept up at all. (In fact, when I first got out of the car, I thought I had made a mistake and gone back to Happy Garden). Similarly, as others have noted, the interior is tired and dated (Happy Garden is a tad better, but not by much). It’s a shame because the food, although not refined or elegant by any stretch of the imagination, deserves to be placed in a better setting and ambiance.
Since King Palace opens at 9:30am, I decided to get here at 9:45 on Saturday just to give them a chance to roll things out, but they hadn’t even fully turned the lights on. The first cart came about 10 minutes later, and two more carts joined in gradually. I would say things didn’t get going in earnest until closer to 10:30.
Service was fine — typical level of service you would expect at a place like this (i.e., not chatty, not chummy, but will get the job done).
Onto the food.
1) Pork and Shrimp Dumplings /​Siu Mai — Decent and typical, but on the smaller side. Nothing to write home about.
2) Chicken Feet /​Fung Zow — A weak point. They added some curry sauce to the marinade but overall the sauce was too dry, and the chicken feet became more sticky /​gooey than I’d like.
3) Sticky Rice with Chicken Wrapped in Lotus Leaf /​Loh Mai Gai — The glutinous rice was very well done, but the meat and other fillings were of rather poor quality.
4) Steamed Pork Buns /​Cha Siu Bao — Another weakness. You can tell the pork filling is subpar just from the color alone — that same pinkish red coloring that you see in crappy Americanized strip-​mall sweet-​and-​sour pork.
5) Turnip Cakes /​Loh Bak Goh — Surprisingly good. This one beats the turnip cakes at Asian Pearl hands-​down. Smooth texture, plenty of turnip shreds and not a lot of starch, and good ratio of other accompaniments for flavor. Thumbs up on this one.
6) Shrimp Wrapped in Rice Noodles /​Ha Cheung Fun — The noodles are not as smooth and silky as the ones at Happy Garden or Asian Pearl, but good quality shrimp inside (and no fishy taste like the ones I had at Asian Pearl).
7) Shrimp Dumpling /​Ha Gow — Decent, not bad, but not superior either.
8) Egg custard tarts /​Dahn Taht — some of the best I’ve tasted. It probably helped that they were freshly baked when I got them.
$ 0.50 for tea; $ 2.50 for «small» items; $ 3.25 for «medium»; $ 3.75 for «large»; and either $ 6 or $ 7 for «specials.» The above selection came out to just a bit over $ 32 (including tax and tip).
At all five of the dim sum restaurants I have tried (New Canton, Hong Kong Islander, Happy Garden, and Asian Pearl) — the food is authentic, but mostly average and pedestrian in quality. I think Happy Garden wins in terms of consistency in execution, and Asian Pearl wins for variety of offerings and ambiance. I don’t see myself ever going back to New Canton or Hong Kong Islander, and I will probably keep King Palace as a backup, but I’m certainly not in a rush to get back there anytime soon.

Who said sac can’t do dim sum? Maybe that was me, but I stand corrected. King Palace is legit.
First of all, it seems huge! With such an unassuming front door in a terribly kept plaza, you would think you might be walking into an asian supermarket. However, the inside fully submerges you into an air of delicious, boisterous eating. A weekend brunch here gathers asian families more effectively than any holiday shopping sale. Which means you know it’s good stuff (or at least the best around).
No complaints about the food. It’s exactly how dim sum should taste, deceptively addictive. The service carts made their way around quite often. And the tea was refilled as soon as the empty teapot hit the table. I haven’t had the opportunity to try any other dim sum places in the area, but I wouldn’t mind just staying at this one.
I would warn you only about the dilapidated parking lot and ravenous roving drivers trying to snag the next available spot.

Customer service could improve, food is great, they do need to redecorate, carpet looks 10 years over due, bring your own toothpick because the ones they have is in a little dish free for all to grab run their hands through washed or unwashed.

Service at dim sum restaurants are almost never good. It ranges from passable to horrid. King Palace belongs to the later. We came here around one and everyone at the hostess station ignored us. I had to be proactive to get seated. Most dim sum place will get you seated and bring you tea immediately, after that point, they will play the disappearing game. Here, they start with the disappearing game and it wasn’t easy to find and flag someone in the stadium like interior of King Palace. It took some work to finally get tea. The dim sum we got were excellent. The variety wasn’t extensive, but everything was delicious. The pineapple bun had the perfect crumbly crust and was the best I ever had. Many tables had a surplus of pineapple buns to take home later. Most shrimp dumplings can taste bland, but here it was seasoned delicately and the texture was on point. The shao mei were meaty and didnt have that overly springy texture. I was satisfied and only wished the service had been slightly less ridiculous.

It’s Thanksgiving Day and Asians be like, YEE TIME FOR DIM SUM! This place was pretty packed on the holidays but the wait is still well under 10 minutes. It could be because I came in a small group of 4. There are two dim sum places in Sacramento that I often hear about (thought I’m sure there are more): this and Happy Garden. In terms of first impression, King Palace definitely wins. It’s more vibrant, lighting wise and people wise. Parking is the usual for both locations, cramp compartments and crazy Asian drivers.
Now onto the food. My highlights are ha gow (shrimp dumpling) and egg custard. The outer peel on the ha gow is so flavorful, not too chewy and definitely not soggy. I like dipping it in soy sauce mixed with hot sauce. The egg custards are absolutely PERFECT! The bottom is flaky and slightly crumbly but it still stays intact when I bite into it. The custard is airy and still full of the rich creamy flavor. It was also not sweet enough so I was able to eat it halfway in our meal but I did drink a lot of hot green tea to clean my palette. I loved it so much I basically ate the whole plate myself. My parents seem to like the taro cake, chicken feet and shiu mai too. This place definitely nailed the basics. Lastly, skip the mango pudding. It is rubbery and the aftertaste reminds me of plastics. My family have a huge meal planned for later in the day so we didn’t get a lot of things so I definitely need to come back and try more.
Another reason we didn’t get to try a lot of dishes is because we were seated in a sad corner of the restaurant and the carts were just not rolled over to our area. Service is where a lot stars were taken off for me. At one point, we had to call to the server to come to us and she stopped by for 3 seconds and rolled away when we were trying to decide, leaving my family and I in awe. WHO DOES THAT?
If you need to grab dim sum in Sacramento, go here. The food is certainly superior, and you (ironically enough) will not leave feeling a little sad because the lighting at Happy Garden is… not very happy.

My family has been going here for years, even before I could drive.
I only have been alerted that they started to charge an automatic 15% gratuity for parties 6 or more. For me, it’s a traditional dim sum house that has the carts that will sign your ticket that you bring to the front to pay. When I went to pay, they didn’t even tell me gratuity has been included and I added a typical 18%. That’s really shady! This could also get them in trouble too.
Food — growing up with this dim sum house, I thought it was great. The quality is subpar and it’s constantly busy. They do have many carts running around and it sucks only one cart for certain things when there is a whole restaurant of over 20 tables that will want items from that cart. Their dim sum is decent and is I think one of the better ones in the area.
Service — it’s okay. They started to speak more English but it does take a long time to get speciality drinks like iced Vietnamese coffee or just anything besides tea.

I came in here after lunch and they no longer serve the dim-​sum on the carts that roll around. I have my favorite dim-​sum plates but I always get confused of the names. I find it helpful that they have a picture of the dim-​sum with a number to identify so you can order exactly what you want. The food is good but I always like New Canton. However, this place has far more better service than NC is why I like to come here and they serve dim-​sum all day and not just during lunch. Their ala cart menu is also good too. I like the yang chow fried rice, two-​way peking duck, and roasted crabs.

So my dim sum evaluation continues with a visit to a place I have never been to before. Located in the Goldstar Market parking lot this giant eatery is actually in the strip mall next to the strip mall Happy Garden is located, weird why are there two giant dim sum places right next door to each other ?
King Palace is older looking than Happy Garden but the dining room is just as huge as HG’s. Service was fast but not as English friendly as HG. We got there around 10:15 am and we had all we could eat off of the carts in a matter of minutes. The Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) are excellent here plump, well cooked and full of shrimp. The su mei (pork dumplings) were average sized but had good flavor. The only thing we didn’t like was the Chinese rice tamales (sticky rice) these were very small and had no flavor. Soda is lame just like HG as they serve cans so you don’t get refills. There is also a charge for tea, so don’t get suckered into getting some unless you want to pay for it.
Pricing is a tiny bit higher than HG small dishes (bbq pork buns) are $ 2.75 and medium dishes (har gow, su mei shark fin) are $ 3.25. Medium dishes at HG are $ 3.00 but don’t taste as good. Har Gow at New Canton or Hong Kong Islander are over $ 4.00 dish. A dollar may not sound like a lot but for a party of four we would order 15 – 20 dishes so you can see the price does make a difference.
Our next visit we are going to sample some of their regular Chinese food and more variety’s of dim sum. The table next to us ordered beef chow fun and we couldn’t help but notice the yummy smoky aroma wafting from the dish. Overall we liked this spot and it will be one of our top candidates whenever we are craving dim sum.

Was totally packed when we came here for dim sum yesterday. Quite a selection of dishes, not the best but plenty to choose from. The price was decent, the service was speedy. If you are looking to grab dim sum, I would recommend this spot.
We purchased about 8 items or so, after tax, I believe the total was about 33 bucks. All the dishes either come, small, medium or large. Carts are pushed around, you wave them down, and let they know which dish (es) you’d like. Once they provide that dish, a card is them stamp accordingly so when time comes, the cashier knows how many dishes (and the sizes of those dishes) were ordered.
Most if not all of the waiters/​waitresses speaks English.

Dim Sum in the Central Valley? Should I compare it to SF and Oakland Dim Sum, or other Dim Sum places in the Central Valley? Since I seldom eat Dim Sum (or other Asian food) in the Valley, the choice was simple.
Setting — Kings Palace is situated in the center of a long outdoor strip mall in an Asian occupied part of Sacramento outside of downtown. There’s adequate parking in the long outdoor lot the runs along Stockton blvd. the place is spacious with at least 20+ large round banquet table that could seat 10 – 12, plus smaller table near the front. A predominantly Asian crowd this Sunday, though I don’t know if that is the norm.
We arrived in the later afternoon, sometime past 1:30 so the majority of the weekend crowd was already gone.
Musts — Standard dumpling were meaty and tasty, with delicate wrappers. Their Har Gao and Sui Mai reminds me of Oakland’s «Delicious» on 8^th and Webster. l The special order of chow mien was surprisingly tasty, with roast pork and shrimp and a dark gravy without being too soy saucey.
Wants — Service was what you might expect from a large Dim Sum restaurant, but some within our spoke Cohort and were able bark out orders to the staff and get everything we needed. Water came in brightly côlored plastic pitchers that looked more like toys than for food service use. Tea was so dark that we had to get another pot of hot water to thin it down with.
We ordered multiple soft rice noodles of both shrimp and beef and all were good. Our guests the deep fried taro puffs and shrimp puffs were crispy and hit but not at all light. They were liked best by our guests.
Mango pudding was s triple order for us to share, but we had leftovers because it had little mango flavor, and was doused in coconut milk.
Overal, probably a decent choice if you are hankering for some DimSum and are in the Sacramento area.
