Lumens Light + Living

Took my order. Confirmed. Reconfirmed with expedited shipping to get it to the job site in time. Then days later admitted they never had the product to begin with. And cancelled.
I see on Unilocal that others have experienced the same problem. Avoid this company.

I spent $ 600 on the Turbine Fan (Monte Carlo) and it stopped working in 13 months. I called Lumens and after one of the customer service managers became aware of the problem, he worked quickly to resolve the issue. Thank you Drew.

They did not ship!
I called to check availability of a light, and ordered it immediately. This was open box, which saved a few bucks. A few days later Lumens sent an email that they are out of it. So not within hours and not the next morning, but days later.
They then offer the same light for more money.
Could have bought it elsewhere, saved the trouble and not had to reschedule the electrician.

I wish I had of seen all the negative reviews and reports of shady business practices before ordering from Lumens.
I ordered some lights from rep Tiffany T. that was available from multiple vendors, and she guaranteed shipping/​delivery by a certain date. As this shipment was very important, I checked in to confirm items were shipped as agreed, only to find out they weren’t. I continued to get the run around for a few days, extended deadlines, but still a guarantee they’d get here in time. I then find out that they didn’t even have the items in stock, and it became clear they lied about their ability to get the stuff here in time in hopes that I’d go through with the order anyway… which I certainly did not.
This is a fraudulent company that has no problem lying to clients and I would never recommend placing an order with them.

Great experience. Very helpful staff who worked hard to help us get the lights we wanted — even though we had to try a few different styles in our home. Plus we had a tight deadline. Highly recommend this store.

I am afraid that I might break something if I write too much about this place, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. Lumens is one of those places where if you want lighting décor, you can actually go in a shop for something deliriously out of your ordinary. Nice place!

Lumens has a great store front with so many cool light fixtures in the windows. It is very inviting. Unfortunately, the store is better from the outside than on the inside. I recently purchased a new home and needed to buy light fixtures basically for every room in the home. I am a big believer in putting money into lighting as I think good and unique lighting fixtures can add so much character and beauty to your home. I was prepared to spend a couple thousand dollars on lighting (gulp) but I thought it would be well worth the money in the end.
I found a couple light fixtures I was interested in during my time in the store. Although I was one of the only customers in the store, no one came to talk to me or even said hello. I finally went up to the counter to ask for help after being in the store for 20 minutes wandering around on my own. The woman that helped me was pleasant enough and seemed knowledgeable in answering the questions I had.
I spent about an hour in the store and identified several fixtures I wanted to buy for my home. I wanted to customize a couple of the fixtures and the sales woman said she would call and determine if the customization options I wanted were possible to get. I left my information and was promised that I would get a call back within the week.
No one ever called me. I called back and the woman I spoke with in person was not there. There were not any notes left regarding the pieces I was interested in and I was told I’d need to come back in if I wanted more information. They were pretty rude about it. I don’t get it. Yes, please let me go out of my way to give you my hard-​earned money with that type of customer service. No thank you.
In the end, I wound up ordering most of my lighting fixtures from Restoration Hardware. I couldn’t be happier with the fixtures I bought from there and the customer service I received was just awesome.
In sum, I felt like I wasted a good hour of my time here. I would think with such pricey fixtures they would go out of their way to provide awesome customer service. Based on my experience, however, it seems that they just don’t need the business.

I’ve tried them twice and both times the order was not shipped or was delayed for weeks. However, both times their customer service redeemed the company by fulfilling the order. I have to admit it was nice to speak to a customer service representative that actually listened, responded and corrected the issue. With this being said I am still skeptical about their estimated delivery times or if the item is really in stock.

Had a bad experience with a crushed lamp shipped to our home ordered by Lumen’s. Moral of this story: have it sent straight to Lumen’s for them to check it out first.
Also we had missed communications with some bulbs with the new replaced lamp. It took several trips to the store to get this corrected. I know my HB won’t be back. Do you think I will be back? Guess.

Zack! The most amazing lighting consultant ever. This young man has the most incredible memory for detail and excellent taste. He is endlessly patient and helpful. Worked with us over time. Never up sells but offers every option possible. Wish he could take care of us at every vendor. He alone is worth dropping by.

There are some really nice fixtures — especially a $ 1200 Crown Minor by Nemo chandelier we’ve been eyeing for our kitchen. There is close parking for customers only! The problem is the prices. I’m still debating but tastes change and how long will it be before I’m tired of that $ 1200 chandelier?

Absolutely dreadful. A simple breakdown of what to expect when you do business with Lumens
— order a light that states it ships in 5 – 7 days
— receive an email 9 days later stating that the item you’ve ordered is actually not available for another 2 months.
— call to cancel order, get response that «cancellations can take several days to confirm» (for an item that they don’t even have in stock?!)
— get another email several days later, yes, we’ve canceled your order for something we don’t even have. (personally, I suspect this policy is so they have time to scramble and ship something so you are stuck with them).
— and the best part? They put through a credit card authorization for the full amount for something they don’t have and only remove it another 7 days after the cancellation. (a total of 2 weeks).
Avoid like the plague…

LOVE their showroom, but the sales experience disappointed. Quite a bit. The two salesladies I dealt with did not follow up, did not return phone calls, and I ended up having to call the VENDOR directly to get the product delivered. The two sales ladies were nice, but literally made promises and blew them off. I am surprised this store does not train/​supervise their staff better.

I have never been to the actual store, but have ordered repeatedly on the website and over the phone. When I call-​in, it’s because I have a special requirement and need help finding the item. Ryan LaCasse has been extremely helpful over the years, and is my trusted lighting adviser for my remodeling projects. He repeatedly went out of his way to search for solutions, and I was always very pleased with the products I ended-​up purchasing.
One of these days, I will visit the store (it’s a 2-​hour drive from my house) and check it out. Until then, I’m very happy with my interactions online and over the phone.

If you’re looking to spend at least $ 1000 on a lamp, then this place is for you. (Certainly wasn’t for me!) Hubby and I were light shopping for our new home and decided to stop by here since we’ve driven pass this store numerous times before. The lights and furnishings sold here are more of a retro late 1980’s look. The lights sold here are very unique and definitely not something you would find at your local Home Depot or Lowes. Don’t get me wrong, they are nice and would look so awesome and groovy in your home; but unless you have deep pockets, I would suggest you shop elsewhere.

This is one of the worst companies we ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Avoid at all costs. They do not stand behind the products the sell, their customer service is horrific. They are over priced! I won’t bore a you with a long a drawn out review, but trust me when I say «buy your lighting fixtures at another company».

I want to like this place so badly. It is a lighting specialty store that sells some really amazing fixtures and they also carry home décor and furniture. I love just about everything about this store and what they carry… except the staff. I have stopped in on 3 different occasions and they just have been less than helpful to be nice about it. It is almost as if you are asking them if you can have their first born child when in fact you are just asking questions about shipping or pricing.
They really do have some amazing pieces here. When I moved to Sacramento I got rid of a lot of things and I was super excited when I found this place. I was really looking forward to refurnishing a good bit of my house with their stock, but the staff just turned me away with their attitudes.
I’d say if you are in the market for furniture/​décor/​lighting this would be a must shop for you… if you ask no questions and want to deal with rude sales staff.

Oh my by far the best place to find beautiful lighting in Sac Town is right here at Lumen’s. While this store isn’t as big as a lamps plus they carry a huge Online catalog as well. Service is friendly and helpful something not always found in higher end stores. Really the only bad thing about Lumen’s is their prices would definately not be considered cheap :) If you really need a nice light fixture Lumen’s is a must go.

Lighting, lighting fixtures. furniture and home accessories for top dollar.
It can be a visual overload. but, it’s not such a big showroom. You can handle it.
The staff is nice and helpful.
I haven’t purchased anything here but I have found things I liked there. I’m just not ballin’ hard enough. I keep thinking about one piece so I just might go for it.

After posting this review; the owner has contacted me through personal messages and has called me on the phone to apologize for our less than pleasant experience. He has shown a genuine concern to try to make sure that it does not happen again.
Lumen’s does have a large beautiful showroom with a very large array of lighting to choose from. They also employee a number of experienced designers to help you with your selection.
If you have any problems do not hesitate to ask for the owner. He seems like he would be more than willing to make sure you are well taken care of.
