Midtown Bazaar

I don’t see where anyone has commented that Midtown Bazaar has been closed for several years. Not sure when it closed, but I think it was in 2010 or 2011.
I wanted to like Midtown Bazaar, I really did! But it was always a «meh» experience for me; I visited several times, always hoping that it would improve. Though I’ve never been to Portland’s Saturday Market, I have heard a lot about it and hoped that Midtown Bazaar would be Sacramento’s «Saturday Market.»
Things badly needed at MB were more food and more reliable food (there might be food there on any given Saturday … or there might not!). REAL restrooms (there was a porta potty in the corner!). An ATM (MB started before «Square» hit the scene and many of the sellers didn’t accept credit cards). And, most importantly, LIGHTING!!! It was next to impossible to see ANYTHING in that dark ol’ garage.

After I found out about the Bazaar I thought this would be a great place to be a vendor; afterall, I am already selling items on Etsy!
I called the number on their website and the outgoing message states that vendor inquiries can be done via e-​mail so I sent an inquiry with specific questions. Because four days passed with no response, I called the number on their website and left a message. Three more days have passed and still no call back.
Bummer!

Great concept to have a local artsy market going on the weekend. It would be great if there were more vendors! But then you need more foot traffic to justify more booths… however more booths might bring more people… the proverbial vicious cycle.
The Midtown Bazaar is like Etsy live. Quite a few vendors here ARE on
(one of my favorite websites)! Some highlights were:

* Handmade glass jewelry
* Adorable felted creations
* Native plants
* Homemade treats for dogs
* Greeting cards
* Much more that I can’t recall…
I remembered that it was my friend’s birthday and ended up buying some unique gifts here! A handmade card, a felt paper coffee cup holder, groovy vinyl stickers, cupcake felt pincushions and taffeta flower hairclip. It felt great supporting a fellow creative Sacramentan!
Wished there were more food options and I hope more people support this creative little corner. So nice to buy unique, handmade stuff NOT made in China.

I’ve been once, planning to go again this weekend, and planning to be a vendor there in the future.
It’s a fun selection of handmade goods, vendors were all nice and friendly.
I think it would be better with more lighting, it takes place inside of a parking garage so it tends to be a little dark. They had a skating rink in there over the winter, but I think that is done now, I’d like to see live music, get more of a personality going on!
I definitely suggest you check it out though! Lot’s of treasures waiting to be discovered.

My son and I took a drive downtown this morning to check out the midtown bazaar. I love a cool bazaar like this one. Lots of cool jewelry and knick knacks to check out. Even got to meet some Unilocal staff! All of the vendors were super friendly. I felt bad for being such a browser but I’m AFDC… All Funds De-​Creased until I get paid. I just bought my son some popcorn and a homemade cookie… both delicious. I will definitely go back with come cash in hand. I’m trying to think of what could make it better? More vendors, more variety of stuff. There was a lot of home made soap & jewelry… which I love but they probably don’t need 5 soap vendors there. Something different to do on a Saturday morning. They have moved indoors to a building that is a parking garage during the week. Great use of a bldg that is not used on the weekend. I hope the bazaar is around for a long time.

Checked out the Midtown Bazaar today… was my first time and I was very pleased with what I saw. Lots of unusual items, custom jewelry and everyone was super friendly. I think this is a fantastic outlet for local artists and foodies. I had lunch at Gardner Gourmet and that was some amazing Carnitas and Salsa. I’m going back next week to check things out and start my Christmas shopping and you should as well.

What a wonderful outdoor market. It was lovely to stroll through the parking lot and visit with all the vendors. I especially enjoyed the organic dog food company (Nerdy Dog Food), the cookies were amazing, the rum cake was to die for, and the henna artist (Bodhi Henna) was incredibly talented.

Honestly, who goes to downtown Sacramento on a Saturday morning? The bums are out, and maybe some Midtown residents, but that’s about it. It’s in a pretty good location though in the little parking across the street from the Memorial Auditorium.
When I was there this last Saturday at 11 in the morning, there were a number of jewelry, T-​shirt and produce vendors out there, but there weren’t many people buying stuff. I can’t see this open air market thriving unless it’s held during Second Saturday. And as much as I hate Second Saturday, at least there will be foot traffic so that vendors will get more business.

I was able to stop by and found it to be a great place to wander around and support fellow businesses. I was not a vendor but would be very interested in getting involved in the future !

From a vendor’s point of view, Midtown Bazaar has been great for us. The traffic was a bit light during the start, but is increasing each week. The location is ideal both from a convenience and visibility standpoint, producing a fair amount of «stumble upon» patrons. The organizers have brought together quality, local vendors — lots of artisan goods including an awesome wood-​fired pizza vendor that will knock your socks off. We have made decent sales each weekend, great contacts for future business opportunities and have had a blast doing it. At $ 10 a space (intro rate normally $ 15 – 25), we have no regrets.

This is one cool ‘Open Air Market. We stumbled upon this market while out Garage Sailing. The One Dollar admission charge was donated to WEAVE, Inc. They had some Very interesting original artisan items for sale and very reasonable prices my better half bought a beautiful mid sized flowering succulent with a very nice ceramic pot for right around 10 bucks! Great Deal… Friendly venders and live music to boot «Gonna’ find out if they have an open Saturday for my band to play»
