Had the jambalaya, unfortunate waste of money. Tossed in tomato paste with a lime. Menu says beef sausage, chicken and shrimp $ 10. Would not recommend. Plus the cook and order taker were straight arguing. Not pleasant experiece. Probably why the food was gross. Did I mention I got a cm worth of of sausage no chicken and 7 dime size shrimp! LOL

Food was awful. I got the mac and cheese that was dry and greasy. I got a seafood sandwich and it was burnt.

Decided to give this truck a try after a coworker raved about their food. Decided to try out their jambalaya with shrimp($ 8) which also has chicken and sausage. I got a decent amount of food and it was loaded with flavor. definitely has a nice spicy kick. Can’t wait to try one of their po boys next time they stop by CalPERS.

Pretty horrible experience unfortunately at today’s Chalk It Up event. Technical Difficulties — Credit card machine didn’t work, so I had to pay $ 4.50 to take money out of a mobile ATM machine. Evil things! Service — Slooooooow! I had to remind them of my order, and then it took even more time as I watched people behind me, get their food before me. Not to mention, that ½ my order came out and then I had to wait another 15 minutes for the 2nd ½ while my family sat down to eat. Quality — No bueno… borderline poisonous. * UNCOOKEDCHICKEN for my kids * UNCOOKED shrimp in my bland jambalaya * Oily(very) Mac n’ Cheese * Shrimp Po’ Boy: Eh at best… sauteed shrimp, in a french roll with a little slaw on top… pretty uninspired. If you see them at an event or your job site, I’d recommend trying one of the other trucks if you have an option. They refunded my money after a little hmmm’n and haaa’n and offering to make me new plates for the raw food. However our parking was about to expire and RAWCHICKEN is a major no no… especially when fed to children. I didn’t want more food from a business that served this stuff to my family in the first place.

I am so upset with this truck. She comes to CalTrans for lunch. Since our cafeteria has been closed the building manager has allowed different food trucks to come on a rotation during the week. This industry is small and they should all be working together to serve their customers. There is no room for selfish behavior. There was a certain food truck that was scheduled to come and Miz Shirley showed up an hour early to take their spot. Her response was ‘First come first serve” which is not true. She has created such a problem with the scheduling now some of the trucks that we have looked forward to coming every week dont want to deal with it. The last time I ordered from this truck. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken strips. I went to bite into one of the strips and there was an awful rotten smell that took over my mouth and nose. NOWAY was she serving rotten chicken. I kindly brought it back to her and even went to the back of the truck to try to be kind. She did not appreciate my efforts. She said she had cooked the chicken earlier that morning and there was no way it was bad it had to be the seasoning. She offered to make me more chicken with a different flavor. No thank you please just give me my money back. She then turned around and walked away from me. I have worked in the food industry and I totally understand some things get by you, but it is how you handle your customers that makes the difference. You can serve the best food in the world but if your customer service and kindness to fellow businesses lack then move on out of here.

This place is so good! Best soul food I’ve ever had, beside my grandmas of course! Super yummy food and great service. They were very nice but it did take a little long to get my food. I didn’t knock them down a star for it though, only because I really think the food was amazing! You should definitely try it if you see it around!

I am at the best brewery called Berryessa. This awesome food truck is here all ready to provide some awesome eats. Some awesome brew, fantastic food truck cuisine what else could you ask for? This special seafood PO boy was the best ever. Blackened fish., shrimp, fried oysters, and Cole slaw. So darned good. Comes with your choice of fries. I chose garlic and Cajun. You owe it to yo self!!! I am learning we only live once. Eat one of these fantastic sandwiches ! a whole lotta awesome !

Finally got to try the cajun fries. I was bummed! The seasoning was really good, but way too sparse, and fries came out cold. Shrimp Po Boy was still awesome, so next time I will just try a different side.

I have not had your food, though the menu/images looks pretty good, but I thought it was a pretty ballsy move to park your truck in the handicapped space right in front of Tokyo Fros.

I got the cajun burger, and let me tell you: they had a new guy in the truck which made the wait for the food excruciatingly long, and lots of mistakes happened in getting people’s orders to them. But the food was good. It was the kind of good that I forgot that seconds ago, I had been planning on how to write my two star review for them! the burger had nice seasoning, was super juicy, and the sauce was FANTASTIC. The fries that came with it were awesome too(I got regular fries), and I just kept dipping them on the sauce that dripped from my burger into the paper bowl, and… sigh… such a pleasant experience. If I see them again, I plan to try their other options.

I really wish I could leave a star rating for separate portions of this journey. 1. price is very reasonable for a food truck serving sea food sandwiches 2. The size of the food wasn’t bad could have been better but again on par for a food truck 3. Taste VERYGOOD. The shrimp Po’boy and the oyster both had a fresh look and taste which I wasn’t sure what to really expect from a food truck Those 3 areas this place gets a full 4 stars Moving onto the other 2 1. Service: Not only slow but not the most friendly either. Kinda short with the customer and when people were asking why they were skipped Over or not receiving food the lady was snappy and quiet rude at times. 2. Wait times, holy hell. I know I’m not going to get fast food times from a food truck, but nearly 25 mins for two sandwiches and fries is down right terrible. I get it was a busy event, but how about an apology an update something that says, sorry this isn’t normal we are trying. Nothing, the wait was so bad in fact folks in line we warning other customers and many moved on as time was running low on the event we were attending Additionally, can you please staff 1 more person. You have a cook who did a great job the food was awesome, you have an order taking person who did a good job on food consistency and presentation. However you would benefit from a 3rd person to focus on the customer interaction and customer service aspect. Overall food alone gets a 4 but the rest really shows me why this food truck averages a 3 star review Which sucks because I reallly wanted this to be amazing because I love the little local guys

I’m giving Miz Shirley’s one star because they no-showed at our food truck event. As part of my employer’s United Way week, we scheduled two different food trucks per day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Today was supposed to be Miz Shirley and Squeeze Inn and they were scheduled from 10am-2pm. Neither truck showed up. There were a lot of employees who didn’t bring a lunch so that they could buy from the food trucks. It was disappointing that they didn’t show up. I am giving Squeeze In a 1-star review for the same reason.

Ordered the $ 12 house special, it was just okay, I wished the food came out piping hot, it was cold. And for $ 12 there should be more rice. They are overpriced for a food truck! But I was craving some cajun food, and was sadly disappointed.

This is a tough review for me. Their Cajun burger is 5 stars all the way. However I feel I could do the steak fries at home(plain and simple) and the prices are a little on the high side, but not to bad.

I ordered a cajun burger and cajun fries from Miz Shirley Marie’s when they were at Track 7 last night and it was not awesome. The burger was just a burger, not so much cajun. The fries were mushy and there was barely any seasoning. The order took forever even though there was nobody in front of us. My friend ordered the chicken tenders and those were also not awesome. I was really excited to check out a new and unique food truck but unfortunately it fell short.

Miz Shirley was out at Out of Bounds last week and we were stoked when the smell wafted in through the back door. It was really hard to choose from their menu – we wanted everything! The food was really tasty, especially the BBQ chicken sandwich. The chicken was delighfully sweet and savory, the only complaint I have is it is kind of small. No big deal on this day because we also got jambalaya and fries to share. The jambalaya was really good, but not your typical jambalaya. I liked it because it wasn’t packed with meat but was seasoned really well and wasn’t too soft nor too spicy, but spicy enough. The service was really good, the gal made suggestions and they worked out well for us, all for around $ 30 for 4 people. I really hope to try out some other menu items next time we catch Miz Shirley’s!

The ONE good thing about working at CalPERS nowadays is that, until the Subway is completed next to Chocolate Fish, there is a food truck for lunch(sometimes breakfast or afternoon snack as well) at 400 R St. everyday. I love that, since there are lots of different trucks I’ve been WANTING to try, but haven’t had the opportunity to visit… until now. So, you can imagine my delight when I saw Miz Shirley’s on the schedule. I ordered the blackened fish sandwich with garlic fries, and tried a side of their mac ‘n cheese… 1. Blackened fish sandwich — oh so delicious! A nice sized piece of seasoned fish on a toasted roll with crispy slaw. Mmm, mmm, mmm… 2. Garlic fries — loved! They are steak fries, and they must have double-cooked them because they were all crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And the garlic was generous and yummy! 3. Mac ‘n cheese — SUPERB! I know some folks have shown photos of the oil leftover when they finished their bowl, but gosh darn it I LOVED that oil and butter because is just made the flavor of this mac ‘n cheese flippin’ GREAT! My serving was hot and fresh and had some incredible seasoning sprinkled on top that just made me wolf down my portion. I almost liked seeing the pool of butter/oil on the bottom :) Now, some folks were getting impatient waiting for their food, but they’re obviously truck rookies and don’t understand that food truck food is cooked to order and may take a bit of wait… know it, learn it, live it! Lastly, the girl taking the orders, and the cooks inside the truck were all working very hard to get food in and out. They VERY much appreciated my saying«good job» to them all. I appreciated their efforts, and the food was worth the wait. I’ll be back to try their other offerings, for sure :)

The truck was in Elk Grove for one of the weekly Food Truck Mania’s. I always like to try something different, so I decided to order some food from them. The owner enticed me by offering samples of the jambalaya, which I loved. It was spicy and flavorful. I wished I ordered it, but I wanted to try the shrimp po’ boy(with coleslaw dressing). I got the combo which included a choice of side and I went with the macaroni and cheese. The sandwich was $ 10 and sides cost $ 3, but with a combo I paid $ 12.50. It was a difference of $.50– not much of a combo. The meal was a bit pricy. The bread on the po’boy had a crisp crust. The coleslaw was kind of bland. The shrimp wasn’t fried but sautéed. There was an abundant amount of shrimp with every bite. I hate it when you eat a sandwich and you end up with more bread than filling, but that wasn’t the case here. Even so, I think I would’ve enjoyed the hotlink po’ boy more. The macaroni and cheese was good.

What a surprise! Going to a food truck gathering and seeing a truck I’ve never laid eyes on before doesn’t happen to me often, but today, I was pleasantly surprised by Miz Shirley Marie’s. Gathered with several other locals, MSM’s looked to be going for a Southern-type feel. And it didn’t disappoint! The jambalaya was tasty and pleasantly spicy. This wasn’t one that just overwhelmed with heat, but rather, the spices built a little as you ate. Very good, comfort food type of feel. I also sampled the cajun fries, and though I tend to prefer a crispier batch of fries, these were well-prepared steak fries with a very distinct flavor. Again, not overwhelming in flavor or overly spicy. Heavily spiced of course, but not something that will make you breathe fire. It was refreshing to see another mobile vendor in Sacramento, and honestly, it was great to see something not strictly a taco or a sandwich. Nothing against tacos or sandwiches, but variety is the spice of life. I hope this particular truck thrives and brings more Southern food to Sacramento! I, for one, would kill someone for some hush puppies. Bring it on, MSM!
