Went here to grab a drink before my girlfriend moved out of state on a Wednesday night. Good thing, because it was happy hour all night! Well drinks were only $ 3… Talk about a fucking deal! Our bartender was super friendly too. Didn’t leave the bar, so I wasn’t able to explore the rest of the venue. Definitely have to go back one of these Wednesday’s!

Why does it smell like feces in here!!! I almost throw up in my drink. To top it off, the group behind me just farted. Wonderful. If you’re into the Port-o-potty smell, this is your place.

We were turned on to this little joint by a patron at the Blue Cue where there was a large party dominating the pool tables with no end in sight! The shuffle board was out of commission so after a little teaser round of drinks our journey through downtown’s late night offerings began. Finally we arrived to the Monkey Bar thirsty and in need of provisions. I immediately was taken back by the aroma of diarrhea and vomit. If I was not so determined to have a good time, drink some beers and get our pool on I would of suggested we leave. We endured 1 round, packed up most of our eats and escaped out of the back door! We confronted staff about the smell and they tried every attempt to divert admittance of its horrific presence. One lovely lady went so far as to state there are apartments upstairs and their smells loft down into the bar… everything from marijuana to probably the sewer pipes. I said marijuana would be less offensive than diarrhea and vomit I had amazing company and the food was actually good… Conquer the funk and I will be back!

This place has a super strong sewer oder. I’m gonna just say it. The monkey bar smells like shit. I asked the bartender if she smelled it. She acted like she didn’t know what I was talked about. Lol. So the food was alright. The fries were killer. The pool table had nobody on it. We would have stayed if it wasn’t for the strong sewer odor. Skip it… No. The drinks are cheap here. Don’t stay though. Bring a designated driver an move on.

Went here to meet for a quick bite and brew for happy hour. Overall was satisfied but wasn’t «wow-ed». The skinny: — easy to find — outdoor seating — parking is hit and miss, but a walk is nice, lots of good places in the area — Food: had the Niman Ranch sliders. Very good, with carmelized onions and a yummy sauce. BUT, the little burger buns were cold. Also tried the nachos and they were just«meh». Don’t think I’d order the nachos again as they just lacked flavor. — Staff/customer service: Friendly and efficient. — Ambiance: can be loud at times, depending on time of day, so conversation can be challenging(and it’s a bar after all so noise goes with the territory). Clean and nice layout inside. — Pool table! — Free Wi-Fi(it did go down while I was there, a bummer since it was a meeting that we needed internet access) Definitely will go back to give this place another chance(will give the vegetarian pizza a try.) Happy hour is decent deal. Hopefully the food is better next time.

This is one of the best sit down restaurants in Sacramento. It’s an over 25 bar so that is representative of the atmosphere. There isn’t any dancing however there is a full DJ. We had a reservation for a birthday and received a birthday shout out by the DJ as well as a piece of cake with fire. Such a great bar, great staff, great atmosphere. It is very busy so I would recommend making a reservation. I did not try any of the food.

Excellent Happy Hour prices on well drinks and beer. Service was okay, both the bartender and the server were very friendly and professional, but as they got busy inside, we were a little forgotten on the patio. As an afterthought, we ordered the Burrata and arugula pizza(½ price during happy hour!) and it was seriously one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The crust was thin, crispy and almost buttery. The ricotta was delicious and it was heaped with arugula. I will go back for the pizza for sure. One concern I had was about smoking on the patio. I’m not one to cause a fuss, but it after the 2nd person started smoking, we went inside — which solved the problem.

Food served is from café Bernardo which is yummy! Great outdoor seating but can feel cramped if a lot of people, tables outside are close together. Large Thai salad is huge and we split between 2 people along with order of sweet potato fries. Great spot for casual lunch on a great day!

Monkey Bar is one of my favorite Midtown gems. I love going there on Wednesdays for their all night happy hour. Although they recently changed their happy hour menu, it’s still a great deal. Both the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and the burrata and arugala pizza are excellent. The bartenders are very friendly and will pour your cocktails generously if you return the kindness. For $ 3 for wells, $ 1 for house cocktails, $ 1 draft beers? Yeah, I’ll take it. Also, the atmosphere is great. Even though the place seems pretty small, it’s great to bring groups and it’s a fun place to go. The music is excellent, the back room has a pool table, the patio is comfortable and has heaters during the winter, and the inside has fun and eclectic decorations. Café Bernardo is right next door, so the two establishments help each other out and you can bring food from either place into the other. They’re cool about it, so tip well.

My friend and I came to Monkey Bar after partaking in happy hour at another bar down the street. We originally came here because we thought it was Ink Eats and Drinks. It’s not. But we didn’t feel like walking anymore so we stayed. My favorite thing is that it’s connected to Café Bernardo so you know the food is pretty good. They have some great food happy hour specials, but unfortunately we were a little late in arriving to partake. They have drink specials for happy hour as well, but the drinks are pretty cheap anyways so it’s not a necessity to come during the discounted time. My friend ended up having a beer and I had a Crispin Cider. I was very surprised and happy to see that they had one of my favorite cider brands on tap. I was even more excited that I got a huge pint glass for only $ 7.00. So I had two. The décor inside leaves a little to be desired. You can say it’s very urban. Clean? Not so sure. I can say that I ended up sitting at the bar right next to a nice(albeit creepy) semi homeless man. The bar was pretty empty when we first arrived but quickly filled up once the Warriors Basketball game heated up. Bro central. I will possibly be back.

A very legit place for a happy hour and sandwich/burger from café bernardo next door. Can’t go wrong. The food is good, the beer is decent, and the prices are competitive.

Best bar I’ve ever taken a chance on. Walked into $ 3 well drinks all night. The blonde guy bartender is friendly and efficient. Great experience!

Perfect low key hangout for a day or night, the drink selection is good and I have tried quite a few things from both the breakfast and lunch/dinner menu… I have not been disappointed. The service in the bar area can be a bit slow but they are always very friendly. I am hooked on the black bean burger with the sweet potato fries and homemade ranch… addicting and the seasoning of the burger is on point!

I had a burger and fries with the BFF and it was good. She liked hers as well and it was cooked to a perfect medium well as she likes. All well done burgers for me, thank you very much. The bacon was wonderful. What we did not realize is that the restaurant next door cooks all the food. But we did not go for the food. Our main entrée was the drinks with a side of food! Drinks were inventive and great and we had a blast with the bartender. She came to our table and was rocking’ with information about the area and the drinks. She was not stingy on the liquor either. My type of barista bay bay! As we were finishing lunch it was the dinner hour and guess what? All sorts of contraction crews starting filling up the bar. Things got wonderfully interesting and this bar is a hopping spot! I like it here and the atmosphere is full of hardworking Americans. Definitely worth the drinks. With a side of food!

Anything named after a monkey gets a good rating in my book. Which is why I also gave a high-rating to the Dr Zaius Punch-in-the-Face Clinic, but that’s a weakness on my part. The Monkey bar is a pretty swingin’ jernt for after-work-fun. In fact, the only times I’ve ever been has been after work, with co-workers, so I’m not sure I can vouch for the place during other times, but for those purposes, it’s fun. The décor is kind of dark and clever, and the sun is kept out, despite the large window. A dark moody place to drink and forget. But it gets better: There’s a room in the back with a pool table. That in and of itself isn’t a draw, but the fact that it’s decorated with old punk rock flyers gives the place a level of class rarely seen in the area. And on top of everything else, the place is connected to Café Bernardo, so if you’re hungry while knocking back a drink? Order some food. And it’s awesome. I’ve never met an unpleasant person working here and that speaks volumes about their character, since they’re dealing with a steady stream of unpleasant drunks. Very decent folk. Everytime I go here, I think to myself that I should come here more often and without co-workers, but perhaps I’m overthinking it. Perhaps the Monkey Bar exists exactly where it should: as a place to come after work with those I work with. Perhaps. Either way, it’s a fun place. Dark, moody and they have drinks behind the bar.

On a whim, My boyfriend and I took a drive down to Sacramento to get out of Reno for the night. We found ourselves in Midtown Sac and hungry for a bite. While we were both hungry, we just wanted something light to go along with a cocktail or two on our spontaneous road trip date night. We both ordered the Thai noodle salad with spicy peanut dressing and it was perfect! It was just the right amount of spice. The peanut sauce was so delicious and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The price for a small salad, they come in small or large was just $ 5.95! A steal for this delicious little dish. Drinks were very reasonable too. $ 3.50 for a rum and coke. On a Saturday night, not during happy hour time, we were very happy with the prices. The bathrooms were lacking any paper and needed attention, otherwise this would have been a five star review because the food, drinks and service were spot on!

I’m not a huge bar person but I love monkey bar! It’s relaxed and not too loud, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bartenders are always friendly. I love that they have Crispin hard cider on tap, because it’s my favorite! They also have seasonal cocktails which are definitely worth a try! I had one called Ashley’s summer lovin’(I’m assuming it won’t be around much longer), and it was delicious. This is definitely a great place to go if you just want to hang out and talk with friends.

Where else can you imbibe with cheap tasty drinks, play pool with all sorts of strangers, eat tasty grub and enjoy the warm summer nights? Monkey Bar. That’s where. This has been a favorite spot of mine for the last 3 years. I come anytime from middle of the day for mimosas on weekends, to a happy hour stop for a quick drink after work, to celebrating various events! The staff is always friendly, it’s always clean and there’s always someone to chat with.

Pretty cool place in the Midtown area. I went here for a Meetup and it did not disappoint. Something to note: On Wednesdays they have happy hour deals ALLNIGHT! Regular happy hour: M-F 3 – 6 p. m I believe. $ 2 for Coors light, PBR and Bud light, $ 3 wells. Rest of beers on tap are $ 5 This is a pet friendly bar so you can bring your dogs to the patio. They also have a cool back room with a pool table and plenty of bar stools to sit on, so bring quarters! The tables near the bar can create a bottle neck situation in the middle so be aware of that. Also, this bar is connected to a café so if you order food it will probably come from a waiter from the café from what I’ve seen(I myself didn’t order anything but drinks). Bar staff is pretty friendly and attentive too. I’ll prob be back if I’m in the area.

Holy f balls! I hadn’t been to monkey for happy hour in a long time so I went back yesterday. Holy muther fffffer! The mac n cheese for $ 3 is the best mac n cheese in town !!! It has a nice creamy flavor and it’s sprinkled with something crunchy as in bread crumbs or panko or something that makes it even more amazing. I’ve had plenty of other mac n cheeses around from house kitche, mix, cafeteria 15L, blue cue, and a couple others I can’t think of right now and for $ 3 is the THE best! Oh ya and the sliders are also pretty damn good. I think it’s $ 6 for 2??? That’s a little pricey but still damn good. They also have quesidilla’s, grilled cheese sandwiches, fries, pizza, and something for all under $ 6
